      I would say they're more for parking purposes and fuel economy such as in the city. People who don't live in the city should not even be looking in this segment at all. A Corolla Hatch is literally smaller and better for the money but takes a hit in the comfort zone for a family of 4. Depends on the demographic for the consumer?

    I personally would never buy one, for people like me and you these would be a stupid buy. But for what it is it’s pretty nice, the people who are in the market for these don’t care that it doesn’t have a V6 putting out 260+ horsepower or that the vehicle isn’t quick. For a sub-compact SUV it has it’s luxury features, higher ride height and a quiet ride while not breaking the bank that’s what the people who going to buy these are looking for.

  • @user-nf8jm5li1k

    Seriously, Lexus needs better powertrains to compete with this segment. More horsepower in particular..
    And I really wish they would have just updated the CT200h, and kept it along with this. Coulda been a winner.

    • @keenanchu3089
      @keenanchu3089 6 років тому +6

      They use low power, high displacement, very low stressed engines so they last much much longer than the competition. They're not bad on highways unless you're trying to cut in and out of traffic like a maniac.

      @@keenanchu3089 The Lexus UX has a 2.0L engine. Not exactly high displacement. It does 0-60 in 9 seconds. That's pretty bad for a highway, and will undoubtedly put you in a situation where you struggle to merge.
      Once more,the fact that Lexus has a long lasting engine doesn't matter for a new car buyer, who probably will lease it, or keep it for 5 years. Compare the HP on the UX, 170 hp, to 237 on the XT4, etc.
      Toyota cars aren't low power, high displacement, they are high power, high displacement, low power, low displacement. If Toyota is gonna put an inline 4 from the Corolla in a luxury car, they need to turbocharge it, so they get medium power, low displacement Otherwise, I'm loving the V6 in the RX and Highlander.

    Wow this Lexus seems really underwhelming. Might as well buy a maxed out CR-V or a Mazda 5...or heck, even an ultimate Tucson.

    Lexus and Toyota (actually just Toyota) can learn a thing or two about interiors from Mazda.

      Are you kidding? One thing that Lexus always nails is the interior... Not that Mazda doesn't have amazing interiors for the price.

    A great vehicle but this segment is growing so fast it really should identify its targeted consumer. After seeing the UX, CH-R (same platform), and Corolla Hatch, The UX is mainly targeted to successful Xennials starting a family whom want luxury comfort for their kids and slightly more cargo volume. The CH-R is more for successful Millenials that have a small family, and the Corolla Hatch is for budget Millenials with no kids hence why there is no passenger space, average cargo volume, and being so compact it achieves better horsepower and fuel economy (performance) which is a total budget Millenial vehicle.
