    Unfortunately, my granddaughter just backed out of her Army contract literally one week before shipping out to Ft Sill basic training (and before taking the oath) because her recruiter lied to her. She has a 4 yr med degree (but no license) and was told she would go into 68c school right out of Basic, as her asvab score was high enough (I don't know what it was). She was told they had gotten a spot for her there and everything.
    Well, she had to go see her recruiter about another issue last week and was then told she would have to apply to 68c after she had enlisted. As you may know, the 68c MOS is a highly prized classification and very difficult to get into. Some applicants wait months/years for a spot and many never get in.
    She is heartbroken, and her enthusiasm and trust in the Army has deteriorated, as you may correctly guess. So she has decided to look for other ways to become an LPN (actually she want's to be a PA).
    So for anyone else out there thinking about being a 68c, there's no guarantee you'll get into the program. At the very least, be prepared for a long wait.

    I was a 91-C-20 On graduation from the course and on orders to Vietnam My parents both RN's got the Mich. Board of Nursing to open a closed board so I could write the test prior to Nam the first time in Mich. history a closed board was opened I had to write the previous test. I PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS they hand corrected my test while I was there, (now computers do it) and on return from Vietnam went back to school and got my RN in one year. Advice take the test for LPN while the info is fresh don't wait. And FYI: with a State license can work in any state for a federal Hosp, Army Hosp, VA Hosp, AIRFORCE Hosp, Naval Hosp. or other Federal Gov. CLINICS even when not licensed in that state.

    To those asking fot ASVAB scores.. Aim for 110 on ST and GT I think.. I got those scores so then I am qualified for 68C. The exam is nothing like I thought it would be.. Nothing so much about healthcare etc. It was like ACT math.. algebra, world problems, geometry. The science part was completely highschool general science. Hopefully you remember what you learned like the different kingdoms.. relationships of animals like the parasitism/symbiosis.. (I am just trying my best to remember what was in it). And worry not though because before you go to MEPS your recruiter will make you take a practice exam that is 90% similar to the MEPS exam. And other stuff that is not related to LPN(imo) are physics, chemistry, CAR like vehicle anatomy &phys lol so know your spark plugs, axle, exhaust (lucky me I hang with guy friends that are into cars and me myself also since I try to mod my car...and carpentry like tools and its usage etc. There were alsp weird questions like shapes and size, connecting them and stuff that involves wheels and its movements. I dont know the max score you can get for the ST/GT but just aim for 110 or more! Most healthcare army jobs require 100+.
    Anyways I just enlisted myself into the army reserves. I will start basics this april 30th in fort sill then will start ait in fort sam as soon as I finish my basics training.
    At the moment I am bored lol so I have been going through my notes and reading over my previous courses( I started nursing school but quit because I can't handle working and doing nursing school full time. It was tiring.. so I decided to take the LPN program through the army rather than spensong $16k out of pocket to go to a private school..). At the moment I am doing this FST.. wondering if this pays me to go every thursday to the office and do PT with my SSG. So yea since I had 68 credit hours from my previous courses, I got promoted to E3.
    My question is, will there be anymore promotion opportunities for me? Since I am coming in with high rank already? I am hoping to get to E4 or higher!! Haha. (I am not sure but will I get that during AIT? Or it's only possible after I passed Nclex-PN?)
    Also, for AIT, can I live off base? (As a single pay military.. like I am not married and I don't have kids..) and still able to recieve the housing allowance?
    Thanks

      @@SparksForces yup! I have been a CNA myself for atleast 3 years now. And that job is physically draining + nursing school that was mentally draining.. imagine that combo.. developed anxiety and started feeling depressed.. x.x so atleast the military will make me physically fit and will pay for my school and basically everything! So as much as I am not a fan of the whole military combat, that's a sacrifice I gotta do to finish up what I really want to be, a nurse.

      42 hours minimum to come in as a pfc, 60 hours for specialist. you come is as that pay grade, as in first day arrival at bct. just make sure your recruiter uploads your college transcript into your iperms. also you will have to live in the barracks through ait and this is regarding to any married or single soldier going through ait unless you are prior service. i know this comment is a year late but incase anyone else has the same questions as you

    This was helpful but, what are the weight requirements? can you have an underlining disease - such as diabetes? would you be automatically shipped off to fight or can you just work in the hospital/ office? Can you stay in the state that you are in? these are things no one is talking about. which is highly annoying..

    • @martaorellana2842
      @martaorellana2842  4 роки тому +1

      Melissa M weight requirements are based on age, gender and height. A quick google search does the trick. Sorry I don’t know them off the top of my head. As far as diabetes, my understanding is that’s a disqualifying condition. Deployment is always a possibility regardless of your MOS since you are joining the military. Is you are a reservist you will be able to go back to your home of record after your training is done. Your best bet is to talk to a recruiter in your home town. They are very informed. Sorry I don’t have all the answers 😅

    Since you said you don't get a degree after AIT if I'm not mistaken and you get your LPN cert then you only need 1 more year of schooling to get your RN correct? I heard LPN was getting pgasedn9ut in civilian world so when getting to a duty station will they allow you time to go to school to pursue your RN or does that depends on your shifts?

    • @martaorellana2842
      @martaorellana2842  5 років тому +2

      Military man prior service lived in barracks and had their cars during phase 1. During phase 2 we were allowed to drive, prior service and not married still lived in the barracks with everyone else. You don’t get a degree but you will get some elective credits you can apply towards an Associates, there might be some schools out there that will take give you more credit for the course and then you can apply it towards your associate.

    • @rb962
      @rb962 4 місяці тому

      Depending upon where you live, the bridge program between LPN and RN is a year, but you have to get all the prerequisites done first. This takes more than 2 years going to school full time, so if you took a course at a time, it would take a while. If you want to get your RN and become an officer, you must get your BSN. There are many ways to do this

      It is currently over-recruited and they are in the works of changing the standards to who gets a slot. You don't need classes or training before joining, but you have continued education after you finish it. People are waiting months to get to phase 2 sites bc they don't have enough seats for students at phase 1. If you want a slot, you will have to wait until your recruiter finds one.

    Hi, I signed up as a 68c and ship out to BCT on April 29th. I have 2 questions for you. When do they give you the dream sheet to pick your first duty station, was it in BCT or AIT? and, what duty stations are available for 68c's? Do you know if Italy, Germany or Hawaii are possible duty stations? Thanks in advance!

    • @whitneydeleon3662

      After all the videos I have watched for 68c, ive gathered that you cannot pick where you go however you can "desire" where you prefer.. like they will ask you to rank where you want to go as 1.Germany2.Korea3.Hawaii (and those are the 3 places you can get assigned to after AIT if youre active duty) i joined the army reserves, so I can go back home and finish up nursing for bachelor's degree. I am going to fort sill on April 30th 2019 and then AIT 68c
