Missed step, put a open ended wrench on the power steering rack while taking off and torquing inner tie rod so you do not ruin steering rack. These are very thin wrenches that fit on a thin cut out on rack for this purpose.
0:08 "Set the gear selector to Puh," which is right above "R"ace mode, right? Or is that "Type-R" mode... or is it actually "P" for park, and "R" for reverse?
During your video, I noticed you were from Hawaii by the way you were talking lol. I have an 02 Camry V4 SE and I’m going to change the inner and outer tie rods. I was wondering if I needed a new boot since my inner tie rods didn’t come with it, but your vid gave me the answer I was looking for. Right ons, thanks for the informal vid!
Nice work, thanks! A piece of paper folded in half (or quarters if a lot of space) works really well to shim a loose tool like that, too. It's very coarse and will hold it tight.
Dang, I should have thought of that one. Thanks for the input I will have to use that one next time. Thanks for watching and commenting! Aloha and take care
anyone know what the little hole is for on the inner tie rod main body? It is right by the shoulder and appears to be a dead end - maybe quarter inch deep and only on one side right by the threads on the shoulder. Great video. thanks!
May I ask does these tie rods have anything to do with my toe in toe out I'm having problems with my o tires wearing out and wondering if my tie rods are bad making my tire inside tire wear out quickly
I'm not a 100% sure but it might be so it does not back out under vibration and time. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Aloha and take care

The set you have has only 3 socket/sleeves the smallest being 1 3/16”. The 02 Camrys tie rod end is 29mm. I ran into the same problem here. The only place that had it was O’Reillys. It was an Evertough Master kit #27178.
like someone states below, advanced auto had the set with the 3 socket/sleeves. the one that fits wasn't deep enough so after thinking the set at autozone doesn't suffice, i returned to them to get the set that actually works best(for me).
I just did this same thing on a friend's 2006 Ram 1500 and my 2007 Camry. Neither of these vehicles had the washer on the inner tie rod. I noticed the new ones came with the washers, but didn't know what they were for. I did, however, use blue locktite when installing them. Anyone know what the deal is with the washers and why some vehicles don't have them? Great video by the way; I wish I saw this before I did my camry.
Eventually water, gravel, dirt, etc will get in there and wear it out, but it might last pretty long depending on what the conditions are like in your area. This video shows it pretty good how it wears out. You might want to just keep an eye on yours. Periodically, jack up the side with the torn/missing boot and try to shake the wheel from side to side, at 9 and 3 o'clock. If you have a lot of play, it's time to replace the inner tie rod and boot. ua-cam.com/video/CSLha6vAjp8/v-deo.html

iworkforbudlight Did it clunk when going straight or turning I have a slight clunk sometimes when I turn slowly also did your power steering boots have any sort of fluid or Greece in them I found a hole in mine and squeezed it and a lot of greasy fluid come out
Clunked when turning slightly and over bumps. No Greece came out of the Inner and Outer Tie Rods. Could you be referring to the CV Steering shaft? That has Greece inside the boots and also when worn makes a clunking noise when making turns.
@iworkforbudlight No grease coming out is a sign that your inner tie rods were long long gone. It should have grease in the boot. That's the point. The grease keeps the ball joint, that is part of the inner tie rod, from wearing out. Once the grease is gone, your inner tie rod wears out quickly. If you reuse your old boot and don't pack it with grease, expect to have to redo the entire job 6mo later... could be sooner.... also, if you really worked for budlight, you would have mentioned to drink a cold one at some point ;)
Never use thread locker on the inner or outer tie rods! The inner is being held in place by the washer bent over the flat and the outer tie rod has the nut to hold it in place! The outer needs to be able to move for alignment purposes...
I was thinking the exact same thing! No thread lock on anything, that's mostly just for beginners that are clueless on how things stay locked in: bent washer here, lock nut there, and cotter pin there
Sorry I don't remember how many turns. If using original parts count the turns off and turn the same amount when installing. If not original OE Toyota parts you will need to get the car aligned as soon as possible. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I think if you purchase after market it might look different. Just double check with the parts personnel. Thanks for watching and commenting. Aloha and take care

V4s are only on motorcycles. Cars have inline 4cyl and boxer 4cyl, no V4s.
I hate working on suspension parts on my salt belt vehicles... I'm so envious.

It had a clunking noise and the steering didn't feel right so when I had inspected it I saw it was worn.

Does anyone know the torque spec for a 2011 Toyota Camry inner tie rod?
Great video, Very helpful!
Do you recommend OEM or any aftermarket brand of tie rods? Why are Toyota inner tie rods 4X more expensive?
For this model of Camry, i would Beck/Arnley after market brand , inner and outer tie rod are made in japan.
How many turns for the outer tie rod???
Not sure, usually I count the number of turns coming off then the same amount putting on.
Need to do alignment after.
It's different on every vehicle. Count your turns when you get it off, so you know how many turns to go when you put it on.
Hey how many turns was it ???
Vehicle to Vehicle may be different.
I turned the same number it took to take off.
Do we need that special tool and where can I get one
That tool @ 3:31 will make things a lot easier. I rented it at my local parts store.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
very nice job and informative, I always wonder how to do that ....
Do you have to put grease in the tire rod.?
yeah he definitely forgot that - grease gun that sucker I just did it on a 2003
The boot would come with grease, if you bought it new. So, if you reuse your old boot, pack it with grease.
Thanks for your helpful video
how do you know how much it have to be sticking out?
That's why you count the turns it took to take off, and use the same amount of turns to go back on
Never use thread locker on the inner or outer tie rods! The inner is being held in place by the washer bent over the flat and the outer tie rod has the nut to hold it in place! The outer needs to be able to move for alignment purposes...
