EXCEPTIONAL WORK!!!!! My mother in law worked on TAMBORED designer clothing and accesories, in Hollywood for decades. I remember watching her work in her kitchen on sheer material attached to a frame. So intrigued with her work. i was recently gifted some of her tools and ready to practice. ;) thank you for sharing your mastery of this art.

Glad the videos are helpful. I generally use silk orgnaza as it is strong yet sheer. Any sheer fabric will work

Is tambour like aari? I really can’t tell the difference in the stitching except that tambour’s design is done on the underside

Hi Robert, could you recommend a brand or a place online to buy good quality hooks? I have ordered 2 from amazon, i think the less expensive ones, and both are faulty :( Thank you!

I keep most of the sizes on hand in my studio. Depends on what size you are needing. I am waiting for a order of #70 to come (its 2 month turnaround as they are manufactured only on special order of 100 at a time). Go to my Bead Embroidery And Design Studio web site link listed in the box below the video.

is it possible to embroider in velvet fabric or is better to emborider in a sheer fabric and then apply to velvet?

You can do any surface stitching like cup chain right on velvet because you are working from the front. But with practice you can bed directly on velvet from the back. Seed beads are easy , bugle beads a bit slower and sequins are really tricky. Applique is always a possibiity but the design has to have a solidly beaded edge to hide the turn back of the the applique so a design that has a lot of single line tendrils and curly cues wil not be good for applique.
