Спасибо большое за ваш урок. Так подробно и доступно ещё никто не рассказывал. Вы достойный мастер👍
Thank you for the tips. I'd not gotten that detail before. I've had a difficult time finding details of tambour beading online. I've seen all the ones from India, but the video quality stinks, and they''re not teaching videos - just fascinating to watch. And the couture ateliers like Chanel/Schiaparelli, etc are just little two or three minute teasers. So, thank you for starting this series.
Dennis ..Thanks there will be many more to come in the fall.Just short demos that parallel the chapters in my book. So stay tuned!
This has seriously been so helpful! I took a class with Hand & Lock a year ago and have been scratching my head over this step ever since. Thank you for this video.
Perhaps you should consider other instruction opportunities.
I would love to in the future.

This was exceptionally helpful. I enjoy your book and thank you for making it an ebook that I can keep on my phone
You rock Mr. Robert!! Thank you
I've been trying to figure out how to start and stop the stitches for as long as I've had my tambour hook. Thanks! Please keep making tambour videos!
glad it was helpful!
So, once you finish a piece on a swatch of organza, what do you do to apply it to a future piece of clothing? Is the whole piece used? Or do you cut around the finished piece and use it like an applique?
amethyst8teen it's usually done two ways, a piece of fabric as big as the ground fabric as an overlay or done as appliqué and put on with fel stitch. Which is one of the hardest tasks to do for haute couture ;)
great video, thanks for sharing, I'm just starting this.
Thank you. These have been so helpful
Obrigado! Aprendí e continuo aprendendo muito com voce. é um ótimo professor, explica tudo com muita clareza.
Obrigado!
Favorited! It will be very usefull when my tambour and needles arrive!
Thank you!!!! Such a fabulous tutorial!
glad you found it helpful. Its the part of the technique that everyone finds challenging!
This is really great!! Thank you for your super tips,
Thank you so much sir
Thank you for very useful tips!!!
So glad they are helpful...more to come as time allows!
I love you and your videos 🔝❤😍💯
Thank you very mach. I loved!
Thank you so much Robert from a Singaporean fan. Just started attempting the tambour technique and your instructions have been very very clear. Just a quick question - what size needle are you using for this fine silk organza? I was practising with a size 70 needle and noticed that when piercing the fabric my needle makes quite large holes upon entry such that if the stitching unravels you can see where the original line of stitches were made by the line of holes. How does one prevent that?
I most always use a #90 I only use the 70 when applying 3mm lochrosen. Any size needle will open the weave of the fabric , it has to . In tambour a hole isnt a hole unless you can put your thumb through it!
Haha thanks for your reply, I am relieved to hear that, for a while i thought it was my lack of finesse that was causing the holes. If you do not mind another question - seeing as the beads are now in a continuous chain stitch that, should the thread break will unravel pretty automatically, how do you recommend ensuring that bead loss is minimal? Back stitching ever so often?Thank you once again for your tremendous help - tambour embroidery is almost unheard of in my country and I had to order all tools online (and you are the only one with detailed instructions on mounting the canvas).
Please can you help. I have just started having a go at tambour work ,but when I poke needle in wrap around,,when pulling out my needle catches, you make it look so easy. Also what thickness of thread can a use if I am only doin chain stitch for a pattern..
Where can I get a pattern to embroidery? Do you draw them onto your organza? Your videos are very helpful and your work is beautiful.
I create my own designs . And I do draw them directly onto the organza
May the floss be with you too!!!
Hi, enjoyed watching this video. Just wondering though what the difference is between Aari embroidery and Tambour? Many thanks,
The difference is tambour work apply the beads and sequins that are on a thread and applied from the underside of the fabric. Aari embroidery applies the beads and sequins from the front. A chain stitch is used for each application but an aari hook can't apply bugle beads or seed beads smaller than a 9/0 or 10/0 since the holes are too small for the hook to pass through. Anything that can be put on a thread can be applied with the tambour method
Thank you, I'm planning to follow your videos and try and learn how to do this. Frame and hook are already ordered. Looking forward to watching more of these.
keep me posted on your progress. Its a lot easier to learn in a face to face class but others have doe pretty well with my DVD and these videos.
Where do you suggest to get my tambour hook?
graciasss....
I have watched this heaps of times and still don't know how to bring the needle up out of the fabric without catching the threads on the fabric you are embroidering onto... please please help
you have to make sure you apply and hold slight pressure to the back of the hook as you bring it out of the fabric
Robert Haven looked at your other videos... discovered that doing this on an already made up garment is not a good idea and that I'm not using my stretcher frame properly so will try again on a different project and practice in between. My fabric isn't tight enough
yup soft fabric is not your friend! It has to be drum tight ...hence the name tambour beading..."tambour" is the French word for drum!
good morning sir .i wanna say Thank you to explane tambur stich work.pleas can u tell me wich kind thread to use bekoz im live in uae dubai .so ther only japanise threads and im wery confus .
Glad they are helpful. I use regular sewing machine thread for all my beads and seqiins. Although for the most part I use either black or white depending if the beads /sequins are clear or not clear.
