After months of requests, I finally did it, I updated my first "Comparing The Voices" video, which was Superman (If you go back to that video, which you shouldn't lol It had short audio clips, pace was wonky, the images weren't that clear, went by my old "small image" template style, and audio levels were all over the place, i've progressed along way since then.) Since he's been around in media for 80 years, It's a long one. Many actors on screen have portrayed him, but twice as many have voiced him. Now enjoy this while its still current, like Batman, a new actor will fill that role. We have: A DCAU Gotham Commissioner (Hasting), Father and Son (Tim & Sam), Sephiroth (Newbern), Big named voice actors, (Nolan, Troy, Yuri, David, Michael, Crispin, Travis & Matthew), former Former Firefly alums (Tudyk and Baldwin) some current Doom Patrol actors (Bomer & Tudyk), note worthy onscreen actors (Maclachlan, Harmon, Routh, Warburton, Valley, Bomer, Underwood, Bratt, O'Connell, Cage, Tatum), and comedic takes (MacFarlane, Green, Breckin, Ferguson, Shinick and Weird Al). The find out what's coming next, head to the community page.
It's like Superman's voice has an archetype: Confident, yet kind and restrained, with a certain firmness. Majority of these voice actors fit it well. The comedic takes are a cool difference.

Hats off to Henry Cavill for taking the worst line in all of the JL reshoots and somehow making it into the best. I really do hope they sort things out with him and WB/DC, because he'd fit so much better with the direction they're taking now.
I was kind of surprised at that myself after hearing him first in 1966 and then in the radio programs years later. People don't realize that Bud Collyer was the one who created the difference in the voices between Clark Kent and Superman! Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin, Christopher Reeve, Tim Daly, George Newbern, Brandon Routh, Adam Baldwin, Kyle MacLachlan, Christopher Corey Smith, Mark Hamon, Nolan North, Roger Rose, Mark Valley, Matt Bomer, Sam Daly, Alan Tudyk and Jerry O’Connell
Animation: Tim daily. Live action: Christopher Reeve. I wish Christopher Reeve voiced an animated Superman though. Also whenever I hear Superman I picture Christopher Reeve.
Can there be a best? Even unknown actors were able to bring out who Superman is. Strong and confident, yet humble and self-reflecting. That is who Superman is to me.
I just watched The Sopranos lately and when I saw how Daly looked like, I thought "Wait... isn't he the guy who portrays Christopher's friend? That JT guy?", really shocked to know that he is the best Superman voice actor
It's always going to be a close contest between Tim Daily and George Newbern for me. I think George slightly edges out Tim for the famous "World of Cardboard" speech that truly defines Superman, and his performance as a fallen, tyranical Superman in the Injustice franchise. Tim Daily was fine up until his reprisal for "Justice League Doom" then he suddenly sounded off. Some other Superman voices I think deserve mention are Danny Dark (a good Super Friends era voice), Patrick Warburton (would love to hear him reprise with more material outside of parodies and commercials), Nolan North (even if they likely picked him because they wanted his usual voice for Superboy), Travis Willingham (the best Lego voice), and Jerry O'Conner (he's gotten better the more he reprises). For live action performances the best will always remain Christopher Reeves. Like Adam West he embodied a more heroic, boy scout type of mentality for the character. But for Superman it works since he's always been seen as the bright knight to Batman's dark knight. Henry Cavil did alright for "Man of Steel" but the clunky D.C. cinematic universe never could figure out what to do with his character and he sadly hung up the cape before we got a chance to truly know his Superman.
Bud Collyer Does Not Get the Credit He Deserves from Superman Fans!!! He is the one who actually added One of the most important things to Superman's Mythology that has affected how actors have portrayed Superman and voiced the character till Present Day!! Mr. Collyer is the Original Voice of Superman First on radio and then on TV in cartoons!! This far as I'm concerned Bud Collyer will always be the voice of Superman/Clark Kent. He was the one who Created the Difference between Clark Kent and Superman voice wise. Bud said the best way to create a difference between Superman on the radio was to change the pitch in his voice. Clark Kent's voice was slightly higher and softer and Superman's voice was lower and stronger. That is the way Everyone that has Portrayed Superman so they would have an Easier time separating the two identities. But Collyer is the one that created that aspect of how to easily separate the two identities!! My favorite cartoons are the 66 New Adventures of Superman voiced by Bud Collyer! Everyone has done a Good Job for the most part voicing the character of Superman and Portraying him! Actor Christopher Reeves looks the most like the actual character in the comic books!
Fun Fact Nicolas Cage was originally to play Superman in Superman Lives by Tim Burton But Canceled the film during Production but in teen Titans go to the movies Nicolas Cage voiced Superman
Tim Daly & George Newbern seems to be tricky to know which is which Superman voice and who's to be the best and for the time being superman's voice actor anyway I am fined with whichever voice actors does him and other JLA members I am a big fan of Batman more than other JLA members who like and unlike Batman does and doesn't showed any chances of weaknesses and always bared on with the fights between threats and foes from another dimension or others

People don't realize how much he added to the character of Superman!
Glad you're a Bud Collyer Fan!
43:12 What a delightful voice
Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin, Christopher Reeve, Tim Daly, George Newbern, Brandon Routh, Adam Baldwin, Kyle MacLachlan, Christopher Corey Smith, Mark Hamon, Nolan North, Roger Rose, Mark Valley, Matt Bomer, Sam Daly, Alan Tudyk and Jerry O’Connell
Christopher Reeve, Tim Daly, and George Newbern
Animation: Tim daily.
Live action: Christopher Reeve.
I wish Christopher Reeve voiced an animated Superman though.
Also whenever I hear Superman I picture Christopher Reeve.
When I read Superman Adventures (tie in to Superman TAS) I read in Daly's voice
Can there be a best? Even unknown actors were able to bring out who Superman is. Strong and confident, yet humble and self-reflecting. That is who Superman is to me.
I just watched The Sopranos lately and when I saw how Daly looked like, I thought "Wait... isn't he the guy who portrays Christopher's friend? That JT guy?", really shocked to know that he is the best Superman voice actor
I love how George newborns speech about him never going to be like the elite 4 was put next to the injustice Superman
When I hear Superman’s voice , I think of Tim Daly.
george newbern is the first voice i hear when i think of superman
Me too.
Christopher Reeves, Tim Daly, George Newbern, and Henry Cavill are my favorites
Daly and Newbern are PEAK
Bud Collyer is nostalgia 🥺
in terms of voice acting that i think nail the character
1. Tim Daly
2. George Newbern
3. Travis Willingham
Both Sasuke and Itachi's voice actors voiced Superman also 😂,
Manly... but not Sasuke
Yeah Sasuke, look back at Legion of Superheroes
And Sephiroth
Bob Hastings as Superboy (circa 1966) and Commissioner Gordon on the Batman animated series (circa 1990).
Tim Daly and George Newbern are my favorites. I can't decide which is better
No clue why but I think Jason J Lewis s my favorite, theres just a positive quality about it that I really adore
I grew up with Danny Dark as the True Voice of Superman. All of the Superfriends cartoons. After that, Danny Dark became the voice of NBC show promos.
George Newbern (especially from Injustice 2) is the voice I hear when I read Superman comics
Tim Daly is the best Superman ever
@8:45 Christopher McDonald sounds like Howard Hamlin as Superman 💀
I always thought that Tim Daly was the definitive Superman voice. But after listening closely to George Newbern, I stand corrected.
I wish injustice casted tim Daly n George newban for each Superman
George Newbern and Tim Daly tie for the best.
Beau Weaver has got a great voice for that old school Superman.
This is the job..for me to hear and look at it.
tim and george are definitive.. but adam baldwins kinda up there with the top voices of superman
Tim Daly, George Newbern, and Nolan North.
1.George Newbern
2.Tim Daly
3. Mark Harmon
4.Sam Daly
5. Jerry 'o Connel
6.Nolan North
Christopher Reeve and Tim Daly is the only Superman actors I grew up with
Fun Fact Nicolas Cage was originally to play Superman in Superman Lives by Tim Burton But Canceled the film during Production but in teen Titans go to the movies Nicolas Cage voiced Superman
I'm never going to understand why someone cast Mark Harmon as Superman in that one animated Justice League movie.
Danny Dark was fantastic!
I grew up watching the superfriends on Saturday morning. Danny Dark is superman's voice I hear when I close my eyes.👍
Fwooosh! That... is the sound of FLUSHING!
