I really wish you could build your own manor within the town's limits, it would make the town seem bigger but also feel like your safe with a community, rather then isolated and alone.
But I like living alone my character builds are mostly light armor hunters. Like the ones roaming the world there's a hunter with a dog up the hill in Riverwood heading towards Helgan. I copied my build off that hunter I use a stray dog as well
Raven rock is in town and it's pretty nice. To be honest tho I don't spend a lot of time in town when I'm on solstheim. Usually gathering ingredients. There gotta be some mods for that tho. Shit you can grow your own telvanni mushroom tower I'm sure you can beef up breezehome lol
Get hearthfire, 2 kids (sofia absolutely), wife, + the huscarl already here and the chamberlain in any of the manor (even a bard if ya want), little community, safe if ya take a good chamberlain (anyone specialised in two hands weapon with the weapon of the giant will be over powered) with the huscarl (and even more if you marry a warrior lol) and the manor builded in your wishes (even if pre constructed) in the region you like the most in the wild of skyrim, and there it is. Or install mod that can give castle and a real court, or a big tavern for yourself, or houses/manor ect. It's not minecraft though so if we want a special manor/house/castle ect 100% in your taste, have to mod it yourself.
I love how in breezehome there is a hole in a roof above the fireplace so the smoke can go out, which you can also see from the outside. I love the attention to detail!
The best thing about breezehome is how easy it is to acquire. Pretty often I'll find myself needing storage for a unique weapon or armor set before I can get any place other than Breezehome. It's also pretty affordable so buying it for storage before you get your main house doesn't end up hurting your wallet all that much.
Idk about anyone else, but for me Whiterun is the town I visit most often. Everything is centrally located, there's an ample number of merchants, and with Breezehome you aren't too far from home if you wind up over-encumbered after a shopping trip.
Breezehome might be one of the worst houses in the game, but it's most likely the first house every player got and it will always have a special place in my heart. It's not too big, it has everything you need aside from manequins, and it's cozy as all hell
Imo in terms of utility it's actually one of the best houses in the game, if you get a mod which just adds an enchanting table to it (which there are many of) then it IS the best house in the game. It's cheap (with the use of certain exploits to do with a certain vendor and cupboard you can actually get it for free), early-game accessible, right next to several of the best merchants in the game, right next to a smithy, it's right next to a fast travel point, has a chest and that's literally all you need from a house.
@classymuffin4589 Agreed, with the right mod its the best home in the game, my preferred isBreezehome by Lupus, doesn't do anything to crazy with the layout, adds the basics you need and even provides some storage chests round the corner at the smithy so you don't have to do the over encumbered waddle back and forth from the house. Can be a pain to get it running if you've got some interior lighting mod but onces it's sorted my easily my favourite
Friendly reminder about the Windhelm house, Hjerim: It was a serial killer's hideout before you could buy it. I'd personally say that knocks it down a peg or two for raising children there.
My morally devious argonian would strongly disagree. Then again he moved then left his family in the middle of nowhere in a harsh environment so idk how much his opinion holds.
Best Dwemer ruin is either Arkngthamz or Irkngthand. They have pretty cool 'levels' and obstacles with neat loot all the way. Worst is Blackreach. Beautiful and a cool dragon to fight, but huge and the one quest in there is boring. Best Daedric quest is the Thieves' Guild questline (Nocturnal). You get lots of stuff (Nightingale Armor, Sword, Bow, and a power) and if you wanted, you could just not finish the last quest and keep the Skeleton Key. Worst is Namira's quest. It's a boring quest done by a boring prince with perhaps the worst artifact in the game (aside from the Rueful Axe).
Yeah, it's surprising that Proudspire Manor has three stories, and still feels so narrow and cramped. Even modded, everything just feels way too squished together.
Breezehome is by far the best early house. -Near a blacksmith with two inventories -In front of a bar full lf mercs i've hired -Near the gate so Stormcloaks don't enter because i'm nearby; -Not in Cloud District -Target practice with Nazeem -Literally in front of an old Dark Brotherhood member. -Rooms for children, spouse and Lydia for hugs when i'm lonely -In the only city where the jarl is in good standing with literally everyone relevant -Protected by werewolves and companions at night -Terrible howling though.
facts... I organize all my stuff in the house storage containers and it has enough that i can store all my stuff "orgnaized" by theme, and when i later buy and start building my own heartfire ones i move. As you said.. its got beggers for +barter buff, 1 gen store, 1 potion store, 2 (3 if you count drunken huntsmen) armor/weapon stores, 2 food shops (mid-late when you can invest to increase gold/sell any item to any merchant perks), tavern for quests/drinks. Breeze home is legit my fav home for just all around convience and use early/mid but you grow out of it quick, especially when you want kids/wife. Althought size is small.. being in the most prestigous town with jarl ballin may just make up for it
I love the hearthfire houses because of how beautiful they are but I don’t ever live there because we get attacked by something every five minutes and it gets annoying so my top two are Breezehome in whiterun and proudspire manner in solitude
@@waelse1 comon she's just a kid, some kids have even worse irl. She's bad at the other kid only cause she love him (she litteraly say something that hint us at the end of this mini quest) and her parents are too good and/or not take really care of her (Amren always look depressed and his wife look like a skooma addict, maybe they are one of the sleepy tree elixir of Ysolda buyers lol).
The hearthfire house didn't always have attacks, one are nearby giant camp so that's pretty dangerous yeah, but the other aren't really. The lac one only have a little necromancer behind who only repop 1 month after in game and didn't move if you don't go to him, the dragon pop in this area is pretty far, and the only evenement is bandit's attack, which are always weak vs ur character, the huscarl and a good chamberlain, even in legendary as they always have fur "armor".
@@waelse1 funny to say that when englophonics people can't take dark humor lol, can't make fun in those place about religions or white/black/chineses ect peoples stereotype without being slashed.
The best part about Breezehome is what my friends and I have dubbed "loaf daddy" Im pretty sure it's a vanilla addition, but I could be wrong, but there is a specific loaf of bread in Breezehome that is just absurdly big. Ihs item size is just unnecessarily huge. Same weight and value as any other loaf of bread, and when you pick it up and stack it with other bread, it goes back to normal size, but where its found in Breezehome, it takes up an entire basket and is just unusually big
Breezehome is actually the "best" home imo. It may lack some of the amenities of the other places but other than that it's the easiest home to get, it's cheap and you have all the storage you need AND most crafting stations are just a quick walk from it. It's also placed right in the center of skyrim, in a city which is actually nice to look at. And when you fast travel to Whiterun you spawn right in front of it.
The biggest problem with Breezehome is that there’s no enchanting table. And I’m pretty sure the nearest enchanting table is way up in Dragonsreach, which is just super inconvenient. I wish you could choose between an enchanting room or alchemy lab, since there’s already an alchemy lab in Arcadia’s Cauldron a few doors down the road.
honeyside is kind of mediocre BUT id argue it has a benefit of added meme potential. if you get the porch upgrade then the game will add a little table outside on the porch over the water, but the fork and knife utensils set onto there arent the misc ones. theyre the weapons. they do like 1 and 2 damage respectively but theyre super funny to me and honeyside is the easiest way to get them imo
I personally think Hjerim is my favorite. It's a GREAT house when fully upgraded. I especially love the ample number of displays on the second floor. Plus, I can move my Argonian husband, Scouts-Many-Marshes into it and defy the laws of Windhelm.
Only downside is that it’s the most difficult one to get, because you not only have to solve a series of murder to get it, you also have to do at least half the civil war quest line.
Eh that one racist guy from windhelm kinda sucks? I’ll say he’s at the bottom, nazeem is above him, even if he’s kind of annoying he at least isn’t being a racist jerk and calling me and my dunmer homies a “gray skin” every chance he gets it’s gotten to the point I had to get a mod to permanently get rid of him.
Another problem with Windstead Manor is that each has a rate at which enemies will spawn in, and Windstead Manor has the highest enemy spawn rate. It's so obnoxious when I'm just trying to reap the benefits of the fish hatchery, only for the 10th dragon or giant in a row decides to show up and try to kill my Steward.
@@PoseurGoth I think Lakeview has more random spawns in general, but there's more encounters in the pool that aren't hostile like random non-hostile animals. That or I'm just unlucky. I have had so many bandit and giant encounters at Winstead versus Lakeview.
@@danieltaylor4185 I've always lived in Windstead and yes, can confirm. Had anything from random boss battles (Literally like, multiple losses one after the other when I usually finish fights in 2 minutes or less), to a giant, to dragons, to, well, anything else.
Don't fast travel directly to Windstad Manor. I used to have this issue as well. It calmed way the heck down as soon as I started to fast travel farther away, then walk the remainder of the way on foot to the cell the house was in.
Another benefit of Breezehome is that when you first start the game, it's the easiest house to get, and you can reap the benefits of it very early on when you'd be desperate for them.
Honeyside is my favorite, i know it’s not that aesthetic without mods but i find the dock and small garden on the side really cute. might be cause Riften is my all time favorite city. plus you don’t have to worry about the local gang if you own it ;)
I use Winstead for my family. We are all Argonians, after all! Heljarchen is good for mage stuff, it’s the most elevated and so it has a cool castle-tower vibe.
I respect your choice of ranking, but mine would be almost the opposite, lol. Honeyside is my favorite (after Lakewiev Manor if you're counting in households), it feels really comfy for some reason, it looks really warm and cosy inside, no any cold stones like in Markarth or Solitude, nice balcony with beautiful wiev. you have everything your character would need in it (alchemy table, enchanting etc). Also a big plus from me is that it isn't too big and fancy like Proudspire Manor or Severin Manor. I dont like building household with all its wings for the same reason, with one room it looks like a cosy little cottage, too bad you can't place crafting stations in it
Same, Honeyside is my favorite in-town home just for how simple and cozy it is, plus you get your own front lawn space that you can even grow plants in, surprised that wasn't mention in the video. Your own cute little private yard tucked away from everything is super nice.
Finally! Heljarchen is my favorite because of the snow and the isolation but if you think about it no homestead would be safe for a family : - Windstad : A vampire den, a swamp full of deadly things and the most attacked homestead period - Lakeview : The necromancer and that thief hideout from the city influence quest are way to close for comfort - Heljarchen : Located between two giant territory, probably in a very very cold place The Dragonborn should either probably die a celibate or live in a city 😄 Can't wait for the top Special Edition houses
I'm guessing that's where Tundra Homestead would be? I love that place already. I got it not too long ago. I finally moved everything from my base of operations (where most of my stuff was stored) at Halted Stream camp to it.
Heljarchen statistically is the safest of the three, also the tundra around it is incredibly beautiful to me and really fits the skyrim aesthetic, definitely my favorite
Thank you! Right? It's the worst! I can't stay in it for too long without remembering I literally killed the previous owners, and their ghosts are probably pissed as hell.
@@countryroadcat6965It looks like it's made from a giant creature's shell, you killed the previous owners, it's dark as a moonless night, and it's literally built on an ancient burial catacomb that had an eldritch artifact in it, how's it not haunted
I just got this house last night. I thought it was kinda funny how you get awarded the house after killing its owners. Between that, the look and the location, I don't think I'll use it much. I guess it's useful when you're on the island, though.
Honeyside is the best house in the game besides the "build-a-house" ones, especially if you want to have kids. Did you know that you can start a city wide game of hide and seek or chase by entering and leaving the orphanage. And it has a cute garden on the side as well as a fishing dock.
My personal favorite part of Breezehome is the fact that it's right between the market district and the entrance to Whiterun. Sure, it sucks by Skyrim house standards, but that convenient placement was very helpful, especially when I needed to grab Lydia to help me and the Stormcloak gang ransack the very city where I was the thane.
Breezehome gets bonus points from me for its REALLY convenient location, both within the game in general and within Whiterun itself. It's right in the centre of the map and I always find myself spending loads of time in Whiterun Hold. And within the city it's right next to the city gate, right next to a forge, a stone's throw away from an alchemy table, there's no shortage of stores, etc. The only real disadvantage it has it that the enchantment table is all the way up in dragonsreach... I always found it basically makes all the other vanilla player homes redundant lol.
Lol, Honeyside is actually my favorite house. It's not too pricey, I love Riften, and you get an enchanter and alchemy table. I actually like that it's small, too. I get the criticism, though. I never adopt kids but it would suck to have to get rid of the enchanting table just to house them. My least favorite is Hjerim...possibly because I hate Windhelm and the civil war questline. I find it depressing and it's the former lair of a serial killer. Plus, back in the day, I could never actually get all the blood and stuff cleaned up. I'd pay the steward to do it, but he never followed through.
One aspect I noticed you didn't take into account was containers; this one thing drops Proudspire Manor to the bottom for me; it has fewer places to store my stuff than any of the other houses, and the few it does have are horribly inconvenient. Having to go into another room to stash/retrieve your alchemy supplies (I'm looking at you, Honeyside) SUCKS, especially when the room is your housecarl's bedroom.
Heljarchen Hall is also a really great choice for Survival Mode/no fast travel playthroughs, given how close it is to the centre of the map. It's my go-to stop off point on any long journey I make in Survival Mode, as well as being pretty close to Whiterun where I can also stop off at the merchants
Lakeview is actually my favorite Hearthfire house. I love the view of Solitude from there if the weather is clear enough, and I’m an adventurer type, so I like to have a big armory with unique pieces of gear that I will never wear, but still want to put on display. I also role-play that my character ends the Civil War on the side of the Empire, but personally takes in a lot of the homeless or now displaced Stormcloak veterans in that house. They live and eat there, able to take up a trade or, if they are too old, just live their lives in a nice house in peace, reminiscing about the good old days.
I think you're confusing Lakeview Manor with Winstad. Lakeview is the one in Falkreath overlooking Lake Ilinata. Winstad is the one near Ustengrav with the nice view of Solitude.
Personally, I just chill with breezehome. If I need something I’ll just go next door to warmaidens for smithing, or dragonsreach for alchemy and enchanting. The only thing I actually need in a house is a reliable chest that items don’t despawn from. For me, placement in the city with all of the necessities like magic and smithing, without having to put in the work, 10 seconds away is good. If I want to actually put in work for a house I’m obviously going with Hjerim tho, that shit is sexy af.
I think Breezehome will always have a special place in my heart. Its the first player home you get in the game and full of memories :D Also love Heljarchen hall for being so close to Whiterun
It's always funny to me when people want to basically smear Breezehome-- but it's supposed to be your first home. Nothing insane or too simple; just a cozy place to start out. Plus it's in Whiterun which is generally considered the best hold. For me my favorite "home" is Windstad Manor for Morthal. I can't explain why, but I love being on the coast with snow right along the channels of a swamp. It feels really unique. Plus I have the Windstad mod that basically adds a small town with your own mine, fishery, and citizens who work in them. I then just add my own creation kit guards and boom: I have a little retreat all to myself and my family.
Fact: I love Breezhome because its my first home and from Whiterun. So much player ranked it worts, I tottaly understand them, other houses are much functuinal but Breezehome is more like a home for me. Manors are also good, especially thinking we build it but as I said before, Breezehome is home, others are more like a warehouse, a bunker to me. I love Breezehome of mine and I wrote it thousand more time if I had to do :)
I like Breezehome because of the location. I tend to spend more time in Whiterun than any other place, and I especially like being able to go next door to have two different weapons vendors (if I get there at the right time of day). There's the smelter and forge right there, although it's a pain going to the castle to enchant stuff. I prefer Winstad Manor over the others if I'm not using survival mode. I don't think the location is ugly, but it is really inconvenient without fast travel. Any other time and it is my absolute favorite house just for how useful it is for stealth or mage characters (I insist on keeping the three types of additions matching, so that one always has three towers) I hate the Pale and spend as little time there as possible, so I've only bought the property one time. Lakeside Manor is in a really convenient spot, and you can fast travel and still get the well rested bonus in Falkreath, Riverwood, and Whiterun, hitting up all the shops and selling my expensive loot. On the downside, the constant bandit and giant attacks mean you can't keep livestock alive.
One thing that is incredibly frustrating in the hearthfire houses is that the display cases don’t work. I wish I would’ve known that before I put them literally everywhere
Also my ranking of the houses: Breezehome: Just a basic ass little house for all you people who never went outside of Whiterun. Hjerim: Bruh u just bought a house in which several murders occurred and Windhelm just looks depressing and confusing af. Vlindrel Hall: I hate dwemer dungeons, and this house reminds me of them. Honeyside: It is honestly really good. Lakeview Manor: Again basic ass house. But very cool exterior. Heljarchen Hall: You get a cool housecarl, but otherwise the place ain’t that good. Windstad Manor: The exterior looks sad but because of the fishing hatchery it is really good for farming salmon roe. Proudspire Manor: Honestly the best house out there. Severin Manor: Same as in Solitude only you get this house for free! Also Morrowind soundtrack just slaps! Best place to relax, and drink sujamma after a hard day of adventuring.
For Hjerim....it is also located inside racist-vile and half of the population there probably wanted you dead for siding with the Empire, like every sane minded people should
Also recently found out that Heljarchen Hall is right next door to one of the Blackreach lifts. Generally imo it has the best position on the map of the three Heartfire homes.
You and theepicnate are easily some of my favorite skyrim youtubers. Just something in the way your videos are so fun and calming to just listen to as you go about your day. The southern drawl in your voice is just the cherry on top. Great vid man
I love everything about honeyside, the house is super cozy, the rift is beautiful, I think Riften has the nicest layout of any city, the only downside is the way Riften is. It always bugged the hell out of me that you can't do anything about the crime situation, it's not like it's some profound corruption where the entire system is rigged from the ground up, literally everybody knows what the problem is, and you're literally the dragonborn, you could slaughter the thieves guild and kill Maven after you're done. the only reason you can't do anything about it is because the game just straight up doesn't let you
That was never a big deal for me since no matter what character I’m trying to be I seem to be physically unable to stop stealing stuff. I fit right in.
Breezehome may be the worst (or near worst) based on its small size and lack of amenities. But, honestly, it's by far the house I actually use the most because of its central location in Whiterun, which is pretty much the standard "hub" because of its central location (literally the dead center of the map) and all the quests that go through it.
As you’ve already said, Windstead is great for an Argonian character. I have an Argonian character, who married an Argonian and adopted a couple of hatchlings (yes, mods). So this house is my go-to, at least for “living in it” with my family. I personally adore Honeyside, the view on the lake is great and I’m surprised that you didn’t talk about the Thieves Guild barrel… but maybe you didn’t know or you just forgot :,)
Back in 2012 I always based the houses on loading screens, Breezehome is right by a weapons vendor and right next to the whiterun fast travel point. It's just nice to feel like you actually live in the town too, decent amount of containers for storage just the lack of an enchanting table.
Skyrim Stat Bars Ranked Worst to Best: Worst: Stamina Bar - Only good thing about it is extra carry weight as it’s upgraded, it runs out too fast and is hilariously weak against Ice. Middle: Magicka Bar - Only really weak to Electricity, and it allows you to do stuff heal yourself, shoot fireballs at Heimskr, buff your allies, lay traps for Heimskr, transmutate ore, and summon Atronachs to kill Heimskr. Best: Health Bar - By far the best bar in the game, so long as this baby stays above zero you get to keep playing the game. Absorb Health Enchantments are a thing, as well as Extra Health, so that’s neat.
Mana is last as you can easily enchant to reduce spell costs to 0. In most mage builds they almost always recommend more health than mana. Health is second while you can invest in it all it does is give you a bigger buffer which armor rating and magical resistances also work towards. Stamina gives more carrying weight in addition to more stamina and stamina costs can only be reduced by perk points.
I’ve been on a Skyrim kick and just found/subscribed your channel. Vlindrel Hall’s best for me bc I don’t care about children or windows. Also, you forgot to mention the view outside the door :)
Honeyside is great if you have kids, they will engage in a giant tag game with the locals. The big downside is fast traveling to it is a pain. Breezehome is accessible right next to the Whiterun fast travel point. That's its only upside. Severin Manor is terrible in terms of accessibility because you have to leave Skyrim to get to it. No kids, no wife. Awful. Vlindrel Hall is annoyingly placed in the city. I hate this house. Proudspire Manor has the upside of having kids in the area, it looks great but the location makes it annoying to travel to. It's annoying to have to walk through Solitude constantly. Hjerim is, yet again, placed away from a fast travel point. Windstead manor is the best by far due to the CC fishing addon.
My 2 cents 1. Solitude Proudspire manor: just magnificent and ideal for the family 2. Riften honeyside: good light, enough space, I like the space division 3. Whiterun Breezehome: ideal for a single, warm, the best to start Just a note for Windhelm Hejerim: I really really really don't like its "open space" approach, its layout, its colors... And a note for the houses to be built: they are all good and big, but often under attack, not a good place for the family.
Me who loves Breezehome because I love making Whiterun my home. If you adopt kids, theres already kids there running around they can play with while I'm off adventuring.
I love the Breezehome. Its nice and cozy and I just love the look. Some of the houses just look ... bad. I always have Breezehome set up as an adventurer house, so no kids, but it is central to almost everything.
Only thing that could make the Hearthfire houses even better is, if you could change thematic visuals. Heljarchen Hall is close to the Tower of Mzark, so being able to add dwemer tapestries to the walls, dwemer pipework or a model observatory for the mage-theme tower would've been kinda cool. Or even something basic like using different types of wood or stone for building.
I can not express the glee I experienced while randomly scrolling through UA-cam after an unpleasant day and having one of Longbrows Skyrim Ranking videos pop up on my feed as if the internet itself was giving me a pat on the back and sliding forth this beautiful chicken noodle soup of houses ranked to soothe my soul. It has been too long. Thank you. Bell icon rung.
No matter how many times I play Skyrim, how many houses I buy, how many player home mods I use, I always find myself making Breezehome my main home. I love the location, the compact design, and it's always the most memorable to me.
My personal favorite home in Skyrim is Proudspire Manor because it really calls back to the large homes in Oblivion due to the fact that the city of Solitude has heavy Imperial influence in it's design. Plus Oblivion is my favorite Elder Scrolls game despite all of it's unusual quirks.
Hope one day you'll tackle you're favorite questlines in the game before you retire from ranking Skyrim, lol. I'd love to hear what you think are the storylines that are most interesting and worth getting invested in, but by all means do whatever you would rather do first and foremost.
I really like Hjerm, but unlocking it is a pain. You have to complete the buggiest quest in the game "Blood on the Ice" AND the civil war questline. But I do like how spacious it is and that it keeps the hidden room. Honeyside would be ranked higher for me if that backdoor got it's own fast travel marker. I know there's probably a mod for it, but all the city houses not having fast travel markers is rather annoying for me and that is doubly so for Severin Manor which is on another map entirely. I also kind of wish you could have taken Mercer Frey's home once he's dead instead of Honeyside, but oh well.
I almost always choose Breezehome because it's in Whiterun, the best city to live, where everything is easy to find, and you're a stone's throw away from everything you need. You may not have a forge yourself, but Warmaiden's is right next door. Alchemy table? Hit up Arcadia's. Enchanting table? Pop on up to Dragonsreach! Don't be such a shut-in, go and say hi to your neighbors! Hit the stalls for fresh meat and veggies to cook in your smoke-filled living room. Okay, there are no mannequins, but who keeps mannequins in their house? Psychopaths, that's who. May as well just grab a follower, station them at your house and dress them up in whatever armor on them you want, it's only slightly less creepy. Hjerim may give you the best non-Hearthfire house, but it's in Windhelm, which is cold, ugly, and has a layout designed by sadists. There's a serial killer and some creepy kid who wants to hire assassins and everyone seems to know about this but nobody does anything. And people want the Stormcloaks to rule the land. Proudspire Manor is an okay alternative, if you don't mind living amidst big city sprawl. Solitude is huge, but easy to navigate. It turns out the main reason to side with the Imperials is they have a far better grasp of city planning.
I actually love breezehome. It's right next to the smithy and is also right by the market which is convenient for survival mode. It's also not far from the alchemist and the companions when you feel like joining.
The fact that breezehome is in whiterun always made it the house of my choice. I've never stayed in any other house but that. Whiterun feels like home to me more than anywhere else
It all comes down which house is more suitable for which character to me. For example a Thane lives in Windstad Manor whereas the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood has his own quarters in the Dawnstar Sanctuary or a Forsworn calls Druadach Redoubt her home, a guard lives in barracks or a simple adventurer traveling from one inn to the other, having no house at all. Personal favorite of mine is still Honeyside exactly for the reasons stated here. Also Riften is home. And I do like fish
6:22 Eh, a mole might not always be an issue depend on where it’s located and what clothes the lady wears. I’ve seem some drawings use the tactfully placed mole to draw the eyes to “specific” places. That aside... I really do agree that there was just more customization with our houses.
From all houses that are available through mods, I love the Clockwork Mansion the most.. it has everything you can want, and then more. Travel system, loot sorting system, huge armory and museum..
@@MyH3ntaiGirl they aren't dwarfs like Lor dwarfs The reason why they are called that is in the first two elder scrolls dwarfs were a thing . Dwemer were a highly advanced race of elves who did not look like dwarfs .
@@elite1361 yeah but like i said . the reason is to make up for the fact that the first two elder scrolls games have dwarf names on weapons/armors/locations .
Breezehome is generally the first home you unlock and the cheapest, so it makes sense that it would have the least in terms of amenities. That said, it's also really close to the gate and to a smelter, reducing the length of time for the Long Slow Walk of the Looter - which is one of my fave things about the house. But that's also why a Breezehome mod that fixes a lot of its shortcomings is on my must-have list. Tho I do prefer mods that try to maintain the character of the house as a small cottage over the ones that add every single amenity to it. No matter that I like other player homes more than Breezehome, Breezehome is almost always the one I end up using the most because it's just so conveniently placed.
It's better when you're a Dunmer or Argonian Stormcloak and bring you spouse of the same or opposite race to live there to stick it to those two Nords that ruin the Stormcloaks for everyone.
Breezehome is right beside 2 blacksmiths, near 1 other, close to an alchemist and random salesman shop, has a magic seller and enchantment table in the nearby keep and is super easy to get. A great starter home to grind some blacksmithing skills early. So close to the fast travel too, if you’re just ditching loot between quests.
Breeze home should actually be higher because of how conveniently placed it is. It’s right in between two stores AND it’s next to the entrance of whiterun Underrated, wont lie.
Currently going with honeyside. Close to the exit, everything you need in the house, and Riften is fleshed out enough as a city. Wasting 30 sec everytime you enter a city is a drag.
Next video, ranking every dungeon, cave, dwarven ruin in skyrim, make it happen! Obviously, they will be ranked by design, maybe even name, the lore behind it (if it even has any), the special loot it may offer etc
Video idea: Smash or pass: skyrim edition. Notable npcs, deadric lords, followers, spouses. Light version: best skyrim characters that can't be married vanilla/without console.
Breezehome is actually my favorite. I love Whiterun’s layout and ppl. Breezehome is a cozy home; perfect for the Dragonborn to come home and rest during his adventurer days. Not complaining about the video just putting my opinion.
uhh if you didnt know. those empty rooms in the houses in the holds are where the Housecarls room's but uhh for some reason some housecarls rooms dont change when you get them.. so they sometimes remain. empty.
Ironically Elianoras Breezehome mod makes Breezehome the best house in game. Super cozy with every addition you may need and its in Whiterun in the middle of the Skyrim map
Lowkey breezhome should be number 1 its always been that reliable number 1 home to store all of our junk we probably will never touch for the majority of the game until we finally get to move to one of the other wonderful homes and transport every single thing and organizing everything
Something that wasn't mentioned here that I feel is worth noting is that Proudspire Manor is the only non-Hearthfires home to have aquariums and fish plaques. It's not obvious right away because Bethesda half-assed the dialogue to get them by putting them in a duplicate "Decorate my home" topic that, IIRC only shows up at the very bottom of Falk Firebeard's dialogue topic list.

@@princess10 that’s a good one, but what about the fallen tree bridge in wilds of markarth
How about a cheese wheel ranking 😄
I really wish you could build your own manor within the town's limits, it would make the town seem bigger but also feel like your safe with a community, rather then isolated and alone.
Especially in somewhere like Whiterun where they's already a decent bit of space behind Breezehome
But I like living alone my character builds are mostly light armor hunters. Like the ones roaming the world there's a hunter with a dog up the hill in Riverwood heading towards Helgan. I copied my build off that hunter I use a stray dog as well
@@secredeath no reason they couldn't have still implemented the manors out in the wilds too
Raven rock is in town and it's pretty nice.
Yeah but your bed is just right on top of the fireplace, so not so attentive with the detail
@@mortadelusmaximus no it’s not it’s just in front
I wouldn’t say it’s attention to detail, just a basic architectural rule
@@mortadelusmaximus keeps it warm
That fireplace being in the middle of the room seems so fucking dangerous tho lol
The best thing about breezehome is how easy it is to acquire. Pretty often I'll find myself needing storage for a unique weapon or armor set before I can get any place other than Breezehome. It's also pretty affordable so buying it for storage before you get your main house doesn't end up hurting your wallet all that much.
I always join the Companions - you get a chest for free
It's also the easiest to cheese and get for free
Also whiterun theme music
@@RENEGADEJon19 didn't know that that's awesome!
It's good if you like quaint little houses. Very humble
Central, cheap, storage, close to Smith, merchant and an enchanter is 20sec away. Breeze home has a lot going for it
Imo in terms of utility it's actually one of the best houses in the game, if you get a mod which just adds an enchanting table to it (which there are many of) then it IS the best house in the game.
Really good for heat as well, given its size, much less energy is needed to keep the house warm
Friendly reminder about the Windhelm house, Hjerim:
It was a serial killer's hideout before you could buy it. I'd personally say that knocks it down a peg or two for raising children there.
Or up a peg depending on the child. haha
It's also weird and mildly frustrating that I have to walk through my child's bedroom just to use all my shady wizard shit.
Good for teaching how to clean.

How do you spell it right once, fuck up twice and then spell it right again?

Yeah, it's surprising that Proudspire Manor has three stories, and still feels so narrow and cramped. Even modded, everything just feels way too squished together.
Large yet tightly packed makes perfect sense for solitude considering it's cyrodilic influence
Thats actually why i like it lol
Just like my house, then.
There’s no cooking pot either which I find a bit funny
@@DepthStrider222that’s a pretty big downside for such an expensive house. I was very much nonplussed by that bug.
Breezehome is by far the best early house.
-Near a blacksmith with two inventories
-In front of a bar full lf mercs i've hired
-Near the gate so Stormcloaks don't enter because i'm nearby;
-Not in Cloud District
-Target practice with Nazeem
-Literally in front of an old Dark Brotherhood member.
-Rooms for children, spouse and Lydia for hugs when i'm lonely
-In the only city where the jarl is in good standing with literally everyone relevant
-Protected by werewolves and companions at night
-Terrible howling though.
Althought size is small.. being in the most prestigous town with jarl ballin may just make up for it
BTW the rooms with random beds you can't even sleep in are for the housscarl assigned with guarding the house
And Shadowfoot Sanctum has 16 mannequins, way more than any in this video
I love the hearthfire houses because of how beautiful they are but I don’t ever live there because we get attacked by something every five minutes and it gets annoying so my top two are Breezehome in whiterun and proudspire manner in solitude
I would like Breezehome a lot more if you could have a lab and kids, and there was a torture chamber for Braith.

The best part about Breezehome is what my friends and I have dubbed "loaf daddy"
Im pretty sure it's a vanilla addition, but I could be wrong, but there is a specific loaf of bread in Breezehome that is just absurdly big. Ihs item size is just unnecessarily huge.
Same weight and value as any other loaf of bread, and when you pick it up and stack it with other bread, it goes back to normal size, but where its found in Breezehome, it takes up an entire basket and is just unusually big
Oh no no no. That's vanilla I remember seeing an over sized loaf and pointing it out to my high school gf back on the ps3 lol.

Exactly. I love you. I'm gay.
lol
I love breezehome but definitely not all the storage needs. No mannequins as well
The biggest problem with Breezehome is that there’s no enchanting table. And I’m pretty sure the nearest enchanting table is way up in Dragonsreach, which is just super inconvenient.
I wish you could choose between an enchanting room or alchemy lab, since there’s already an alchemy lab in Arcadia’s Cauldron a few doors down the road.
"The worst part is the exterior being just a door" *remembers the bed made of stone*
honeyside is kind of mediocre BUT id argue it has a benefit of added meme potential. if you get the porch upgrade then the game will add a little table outside on the porch over the water, but the fork and knife utensils set onto there arent the misc ones. theyre the weapons. they do like 1 and 2 damage respectively but theyre super funny to me and honeyside is the easiest way to get them imo
Dual-wielding knife and fork is a cute idea. And if you're a bosmer, a time-saver.
@@auntvivienne8669fast alternate start lets you start off with any house

Bottom of the list : Nazeem

Eh that one racist guy from windhelm kinda sucks?
I’ll say he’s at the bottom, nazeem is above him, even if he’s kind of annoying he at least isn’t being a racist jerk and calling me and my dunmer homies a “gray skin” every chance he gets it’s gotten to the point I had to get a mod to permanently get rid of him.
Who would you say is the best?
Vlindrel Hall is one of my favorites simply for having a stupendous amount of bookshelf space and I love collecting books in Skyrim.
I see way more attacks at Lakeside Manor.
@@PoseurGoth I think Lakeview has more random spawns in general, but there's more encounters in the pool that aren't hostile like random non-hostile animals.
That or I'm just unlucky. I have had so many bandit and giant encounters at Winstead versus Lakeview.
@@danieltaylor4185 i don't think you're unlucky, i have literally never been able to fast travel to winstead without a dragon attacking me lol
Honeyside is my favorite, i know it’s not that aesthetic without mods but i find the dock and small garden on the side really cute. might be cause Riften is my all time favorite city. plus you don’t have to worry about the local gang if you own it ;)
Honeyside is my favourite because it’s the one I could see myself living in and I love Riften :)
Another good thing about Breezehome is that Whiterun is one of the best cities to barter.
Heljarchen is where I keep my family. Lakeview is for my warrior stuff. Windstead is for my mage stuff.
Same, Honeyside still my favorite and Riften too, If we could destroy The Thieves Guild and Maven, Riften would be awesome
@@arianepereiramaresmiranda5141 unless you happen to be playing as a thief, then it’s great all aroudn
Yes!
Finally! Heljarchen is my favorite because of the snow and the isolation but if you think about it no homestead would be safe for a family :
- Windstad : A vampire den, a swamp full of deadly things and the most attacked homestead period
- Lakeview : The necromancer and that thief hideout from the city influence quest are way to close for comfort
- Heljarchen : Located between two giant territory, probably in a very very cold place
The Dragonborn should either probably die a celibate or live in a city 😄 Can't wait for the top Special Edition houses
Actually i barely have any attack in Windstad
Lakeview have the most attack however, everytime i travel back, something attacking
@@MyH3ntaiGirl Interesting, that's me with Winstad and it's like that on most playthrough. Maybe there's a mechanic I don't know about
I'm guessing that's where Tundra Homestead would be? I love that place already. I got it not too long ago. I finally moved everything from my base of operations (where most of my stuff was stored) at Halted Stream camp to it.
Heljarchen is my Main hoise
Heljarchen statistically is the safest of the three, also the tundra around it is incredibly beautiful to me and really fits the skyrim aesthetic, definitely my favorite
I wasn’t expecting my favourite house to be in last place. In my vr play-through, honeyside has been really nice. Love your rankings tho
One thing you forgot about Severin Manor is that the ambiance and music in that house is just down right creepy.
Thank you!
Honestly to this day I still love breezehome more than basically every other one besides the hearthfire ones
I actually love the riften house, especially because its besides the lake, it just feels calming. And that house near a swamp feels good too
Lol, Honeyside is actually my favorite house.
You,have to get the mess cleaned up before purchasing anything else in order for it to work.
Best thing about breezehome is that it's quick to access. Most of the other non-hearthfire houses you have to travel through half the city to get to.
Im playing skyrim for the first time and came across your ranking videos, i fkng love them.
Drop item on the ground then hold triangle an manually place it in there
Also my ranking of the houses:
Breezehome: Just a basic ass little house for all you people who never went outside of Whiterun.
For Hjerim....it is also located inside racist-vile and half of the population there probably wanted you dead for siding with the Empire, like every sane minded people should
damn bro totally agree
I fit right in.
a year late but I agree with this. you can destroy the Dark Brotherhood but not the Thieves Guild, which makes no sense to me.
The only house I ever actually use is Breezehome. Great location and so many mods.
Skyrim Stat Bars Ranked Worst to Best:
Worst: Stamina Bar
- Only good thing about it is extra carry weight as it’s upgraded, it runs out too fast and is hilariously weak against Ice.
Middle: Magicka Bar
- Only really weak to Electricity, and it allows you to do stuff heal yourself, shoot fireballs at Heimskr, buff your allies, lay traps for Heimskr, transmutate ore, and summon Atronachs to kill Heimskr.
Best: Health Bar
- By far the best bar in the game, so long as this baby stays above zero you get to keep playing the game. Absorb Health Enchantments are a thing, as well as Extra Health, so that’s neat.
I mean, you can't really rank these really. Depends on what build you're running.
If you’re running at all, you’ll want Stamina >w>
Woooosh
Mana is last as you can easily enchant to reduce spell costs to 0. In most mage builds they almost always recommend more health than mana.
Health is second while you can invest in it all it does is give you a bigger buffer which armor rating and magical resistances also work towards.
Stamina gives more carrying weight in addition to more stamina and stamina costs can only be reduced by perk points.
Mana is zeroth place because there is no “Mana Bar” ;3
Also you can’t really beat being alive, so Health wins uwu

My 2 cents
1. Solitude Proudspire manor: just magnificent and ideal for the family
2. Riften honeyside: good light, enough space, I like the space division
3. Whiterun Breezehome: ideal for a single, warm, the best to start
Just a note for Windhelm Hejerim: I really really really don't like its "open space" approach, its layout, its colors...
And a note for the houses to be built: they are all good and big, but often under attack, not a good place for the family.
Me who loves Breezehome because I love making Whiterun my home. If you adopt kids, theres already kids there running around they can play with while I'm off adventuring.
Exactly,Couldn’t have said it better myself
I love the Breezehome. Its nice and cozy and I just love the look. Some of the houses just look ... bad. I always have Breezehome set up as an adventurer house, so no kids, but it is central to almost everything.
Only thing that could make the Hearthfire houses even better is, if you could change thematic visuals. Heljarchen Hall is close to the Tower of Mzark, so being able to add dwemer tapestries to the walls, dwemer pipework or a model observatory for the mage-theme tower would've been kinda cool. Or even something basic like using different types of wood or stone for building.
I use breezehome as my adventuring base. It is so close to the whiterun teleport location with a full blacksmith next to it.
You finally did it, you absolute mad lad
No matter how many times I play Skyrim, how many houses I buy, how many player home mods I use, I always find myself making Breezehome my main home. I love the location, the compact design, and it's always the most memorable to me.
Top ten bridges next!?
You should rank the food in Skyrim
The fact that breezehome is in whiterun always made it the house of my choice. I've never stayed in any other house but that. Whiterun feels like home to me more than anywhere else
Rank the alchemy ingredients next and explain the effects of each ingredient. *evil laughter*

Eh, a mole might not always be an issue depend on where it’s located and what clothes the lady wears.
I can't be the only one that screamed dwemer not dwarf inside my head
Nice video tho
Why not dwarf? They basically dwarf lol
Even the horse carriage guy said so
@@MyH3ntaiGirl they aren't dwarfs like Lor dwarfs
The reason why they are called that is in the first two elder scrolls dwarfs were a thing . Dwemer were a highly advanced race of elves who did not look like dwarfs .
@@roozbeh6999
Dwarf may not be an accurate term for the dwemer but they are often referred to as such
@@elite1361 yeah but like i said . the reason is to make up for the fact that the first two elder scrolls games have dwarf names on weapons/armors/locations .
Rank the lakes of skyrim
Hjerim is by far the best. It's beautiful, it has a unique quest attached to it, AND it's in Windhelm the best city in the game. Hard to beat.
It's better when you're a Dunmer or Argonian Stormcloak and bring you spouse of the same or opposite race to live there to stick it to those two Nords that ruin the Stormcloaks for everyone.
Rank the potions in skyrim
Next ranking should be House Stewards
Maybe a top 10 or 20
And just your personal opinion of who you like having look after your homes
Rank the rocks
Longbrow: I love how the kitchen is attached to the bedroom.
also Longbrow: I love how the kitchen is separated from the bedroom.
I like to keep lakeview manor as just the entry. A cozy little cabin in falkreath forest
Can you rank the best Holds?
Breeze home should actually be higher because of how conveniently placed it is. It’s right in between two stores AND it’s next to the entrance of whiterun
Underrated, wont lie.
Currently going with honeyside. Close to the exit, everything you need in the house, and Riften is fleshed out enough as a city. Wasting 30 sec everytime you enter a city is a drag.
If Todd plans to release Skyrim again, he better adds Fallout 4 style interior building/decoration to all houses.
Next video, ranking every dungeon, cave, dwarven ruin in skyrim, make it happen!
Obviously, they will be ranked by design, maybe even name, the lore behind it (if it even has any), the special loot it may offer etc
As someone who doesn't get married or have kids, most houses are amazing because I don't miss out on choosing alchemy lab or kid's room.
Video idea:
Smash or pass: skyrim edition.
Not complaining about the video just putting my opinion.
uhh if you didnt know. those empty rooms in the houses in the holds are where the Housecarls room's
but uhh for some reason some housecarls rooms dont change when you get them.. so they sometimes remain.
I love the Trine music in the background, that's exactly the vibe I want in my player home.
Breezehome is my favorite because Whiterun is where i always go to sell off my loot
