    I bought one at the start of the season this year. I am very happy with the price to performance and specs you get (in NL). I upgraded the windscreen to the Puig Touring screen (this was critical for me). I also had the shop fit Michelin Road 6's for delivery. Only bugbear still to solve are vibey mirrors at speed.

    I've been looking for a replacement for my 2011 Triumph tiger 1050 for a while now and nothing matched what it could do, until now. Certainly seems like the GX is an equivalent, but much upgraded version. I cannot wait to ride one. Great report! Thank you!

    A brand new GX can be picked up for 13k here in the UK. Base XR is 17.2k. Yes, add another 700 for heated grips and centre stand, but that's still £13,800/14,000. That's over £3000 cheaper than the spec for spec XR TE whilst also retaining better reliability and cheaper servicing!

    • @giaccos

      it is all about the size of the bike ( IMHO) . GX is not for tall people.I had to sell it. Test it well before.With a passenger too.

      @giaccos Oh absolutely, I found the GX to be significantly lower than the XR. Even though they are quoted the same sest height, I'm 6ft, and could flat food both sides where the XR is couldn't..

    Got it without any test ride.....but sold after 3 weeks. The bike is really great but if you are tall ( I am 1.90 mt) it is not anymore a cross over, will become a sport bike .It is too small ( IMHO) and good only up to 1.80 .
    The passenger too should be not that tall. I had to get back the superadv kind ( tiger 1200) .Having saying that ....engine and the shift/transmission and suspensions are amazing....

    I have a 2023 1050 Vstrom I have put 26,000 miles on this year. I love the bike for many reasons, but the only thing I wish for is more power. That is why I was so excited about the GX. But when I finally got to sit on it, found it was just too small for my 6’5” 36” inseam frame. The seat is too low, the pegs too high, the bars too close. Gosh I wish they made bikes for taller riders…

    Hi V-Told,
    This is a nice bike of course !
    Do you know what feels planted? The BMW 1600 GT! ❤ trade my BMW 1250 RT and I’m in love again. You should bring your analysis of that bike to the channel, it would be great to ear your thoughts on that machine.
    This Suzuki GSX 1000-GX is interesting but that front design is not my cup of tea and the wind shield isn’t easily adjusted… Should be electric, for a so recently launched new model and the price is dangerously near to the BMW S 1000 XR, which I definitely would prefer to this Suzuki
    Thanks so much!

  • @joep2177
    @joep2177 3 місяці тому +1

    I have a 2022 S1000XR. I test rode the Suzuki and liked it in general but still prefer the BMW overall. Of course its hard to get a good comparison on a 20 minute factory demo ride. I think the fit and finish is nicer on the BMW and i prefer how it looks althoughthe Zuki looks good too. The Suzuki seems to have better low and mid range power (couldn't romp on it much on the demo ride). BMW tuned the XR to get the big peak power number I guess. Both have totally fuzzy mirrors on the freeway but minimal bar and peg vibrations. Brakes and suspension seem similar. 10k miles on the BMW with no issues so far but I trust the Suzuki will be very reliable. I do not like projector headlights as I don't think they stand out as much in daylight. I bought the BMW as a factory demo with 2 years left on the warranty for around same price as Suzuki would be new with 1 year warranty. Can't go wrong with either if looking for a good all around sport touring type motorcycle. I hate the term tall arounder.

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 3 місяці тому

      Facter in cost. The bmw is around 3k+ more spec for spec. As suzuki are selling these at 13k in the UK.
      Add another 700 for grips n centre stand, £13,700.
      XR TE is now £17,200.
      I agree quality is better on the XR but.... it's luck of the draw. Not everyone has the same luck as you..
      Suzuki servicing is also cheaper.
      Strangely, the XR is around £350 cheaper the insure than the GX for myself to which baffled me..
      So i look at it like this..
      If you want
      Better fit n finish
      More power
      More servicing cost
      Better brakes
      Better resale(if you own the bike). Not many buy bikes these days.
      Buy the XR.
      If you want
      A cheaper bike
      Reliability
      Cheaper servicing
      Better looks(marginal)
      More comfortable.
      Buy the GX.

    A nice bike I've admired since it came out. A lot of what you describe matches the R1250RS. I've just returned from a motocamping trip to the Canadian Arctic on mine, with 70/30 tires. But haven't tried bench-pressing it 😂

  • @flat6fever680

    We had a really sweet S1000XR for a while. Incredible machine but scary fast. You really can't have any fun going slow on these inline 4 sport bikes. Even in ADV trim they still want to go fast. And you are just bored to death following traffic and or keeping semi legal speeds. The bikes like the R1200/R1300GS have so much character even at legal speeds that you still enjoy the slow ride and can effortlessly hit triple digit speeds as well. I've had FZ1000 and other similar bikes and it's the same story. So silky smooth and fast that they lack character. BUT....this Suzuki does appear to be an incredible machine. Just depends what you are after.

      As a DL 1000 owner i concur. The power of large twin engines, provide 10 times better power feeling driving down normal roads at reasonble speeds. There, the GX feels like a 500cc in comparison. But as soon as the rpms goes above 7000…. Your license is at risk in a second 😅

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 28 днів тому

      @Birdynmnm indeed it does, but you act as if an I4 has no grunt low down at all? It does...

    @14:07 I test road one jumping off my 2023 v strom 1050 and I was unpleasantly surprised about the front brakes compared to mine. The biting point comes pretty late and they feel a bit vague. Maybe the vagueness is because of the fancy suspension? I don't think they lack actual stopping power but I never emergency braked on it so I don't know. It was interesting considering they are brembo brakes. The bike was new with about 500 kms on the clock if I remember correctly and other then the brakes, the windshield which obviously is not as protective as on mine and the seating position which is not necesarelly something I would like, be it more on the sporty side, the bike was amazing. I am really happy that finally Suzuki is making new bikes that are really good, talking about this one and the latest gsx-8R (really unfortuante that amazing yellow is not available in the EU, for now at least)

The brakes are too soft. I found out that steering issues weren't my imagination,many people complained at the front end like driving on an inflated tire .

      @Birdynmnm 28 днів тому

      I drove my dl1000xt to the dealer for service, he suggested i testdrove the GX, and so I did aprox one hrs drive on it. The good: suspension is just next level, impressive. Ergonomics, I feared the knee angle, however it was zero problem. Inwas so happy sitting on it, and thats a testimony to its comforts when comming from the super comfy dl1000. The top end of the engine is just awsome. What a rocket. The bad: the brakes are as said soft and not at all as good as on the dl. The lack of power feeling you get when driving at normal road speeds. In comparison the dl feels like a hooligan machine. The quickshifter works fine but it would find neutral a frw times during my ride. Passenger accommodation haha check out that small seat, so its a solo rider machine more than a two-up. The price is up, even though discounts are seen

      Brakes are more then enough but yes I am 188 cm and I had to replace the windscreen with a taller one, but that's not bikes fault for my unusual height.
