    What about the best retro on the market.. Kawasaki Z900 RS?

    • @marcoaguiar3226
      @marcoaguiar3226 13 днів тому +1

      It's the best on paper but I just don't really like the looks of that fuel tank so much... And the price is a bit off if you can get a 1000cc 155hp hornet with ohlins suspension for £9999 why £12099 for the z900rs? Overpriced retro markets are too hyped I guess.

    • @shone8866

      @marcoaguiar3226 Totally agree about price politics on Retro bikes. Z900 RS is just a beautiful motorcycle IMHO. A new hornet will shake the market well, I just hope that Honda will come up with the S version...it could be a good substitute for someone who wants a sport touring motorcycle without IMU at a reasonable price

    Kawa Z900RS Cafe for me. Flash the ECU and put on Akra headers. K&N air/oil filter, bored out airbox. Öhlins cartridges up front and shock in the back. Brembo up front with steel braided lines and master cylinder. Forged aluminum wheels. Pirelli Angel GT. I've caught me a couple sport bikes on the road. That 948 pulls hard at 'street' speeds. And it sounds a-mazing.

  • @LooxJJ

    I've ridden a lot of retros naked styles. Get used ones! I highly suggest followings:
    1). Honda CB1100 (get RS if you can). Just get it...and DO NOT SELL IT! It is the GOAT of the naked classic bike - and I can attest to this statement.
    2). Triumph Twin / Thrux - but DO upgrade exhaust! You will love the unique grinding of its engine.
    3). Kawasaki Z900RS if you want a sportier ones. Luckily, they still make it. Clean finish that will do everything you ask - this bike is all about quality of buildmanship.
    Personally, I now ride a 2016 Harley Roadster being turned into a cafe. Its a fun tinkering project that will keep me busy for a while. So many good bikes in the used market right now - it's a good time to be a rider! :D

      Same weight and about the same power as a RE Interceptor 650, My latest dealer couldn't unload a low mileage used model for over 17 months and $3000 USD in discounts from its original price. It is still there. Heavy, slow and uncomfortable means it is a hard sell.

    • @paulch8665
      @paulch8665 8 днів тому +2

      I owned a 2021 W800 that I bought 2 years old at $6900. They do not sell. Most dealers get one and it sits for a year or two until a niche buyer, probably over 50 years old buys it at a hefty discount. It is an absolute beautiful bike, and authentic retro with analog gauges, wire wheels, air cooled, the unique bevel shaft OHC drive, 370 degree crank and even authentic Dunlop tire with center groove (that absolutely suck and all owners switch to better tires like Michelins (very limited selection. of the uncommon tire size). It’s got fantastic low end torque - can cruise comfortably in 5th gear (the top gear) at 25mpg and even accelerate acceptably without downshift. But the vibration is strong over 3500RPM and the bike feels heavy in handling. Once I demoed the RE 650 bikes I decided to switch. Those 650s equal the HP of the 800 but handle better and don’t have the heavy vibe. I chose the Shotgun 650 and absolutely love it. Happy to have alloy wheels and tubeless tires. Took a solid loss selling the W below expected (realistic) market value. No interest on the used market and after a few months just had to let it go.

    I own the Honda CB 350 H'ness that I ride during my annual winter habitats in Vietnam. A very pleasant ride that doesn't feel like much of a downgrade from my BMW R1250GS that I ride in Denmark and the rest of Europe during the rest of the year. The 350 is a brilliant bike for the conditions that prevail in Vietnam. I wouldn't want to ride it on a European motorway though because it lacks acceleration power. It's also deliciously noisy, something Honda designed to complete the retro impression. I even had a guy at a filling station in Vietnam refuse to sell me 95 octane petrol because he was duped and thought the bike was out of the 70s. He changed his mind when I pointed to the ABS ring and showed him the digital display

    Very informative channel, thank you, I subscribed! Would it be possible, if you list the specs of a model, to tell if cruise control is available? It's not important if it is stock or as an option... but the cruise control is important in a country where speed control is common and expensive, for those "moving to the playground" travels. And anyway, it's handy if the "moving" is long... so you don't have to stay focused all the time.

    The Enfields 650 are the most "authentic" in this "retro" segment. It's possible to service them with a screwdriver + pair of players, the power is JUST of what is expected from this type of bikes, and they do look not bad at all - not to mention the price. So I'd take a couple of different Enfields, rather than a fancy Ducati, Triumph, or other overpowered "retro" 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂ Why people bother to buy a fast bike without wind protection - riding fast, gathering insects on the visor - I can understand. These bikes give MORE riding pleasure, but there are also some downsides - bugs/wind/cold.... so a bike of 40 -50 Hp for ME is fine enough.

    With possibly the exception of the R12 ,I think a bike shouldn’t be labled a retro if does not have spoked wheels and fins on the engine.

      Please, Honda, give the bike more power. 20bhp is pathetic, I doubt it performs much better than a 125.

    you forgot the z900rs which is still the most beautiful modern classic on the market both aesthetically and engine wise...

    I’d love to know the real reason why the W800 isn’t available in the UK. It’s one of the best modern retros in the market if you’re in North America, Asia or Europe but for whatever reasons, not available in the UK. It can’t be due to emissions or noise as RE offers very similar air cooled bikes.

    I figured the XSR900 GP would have rated highly in this list. Fantic also make some very cool retros in their caballero range.

      Yamaha has not said they will sell the GP model in the US, which is a disappointing thing to hear as the base bike is pretty amazing and would be even more so with the GP kit on it.
