Hi Christine, well, technically they are gluten free if they are produced in a factory which has no gluten produced products. However, the contention comes about because oats contain avenin which, although is not gluten, can, in some people, create gluten like reactions. So it's really up to the consumer to decide whether oats is doable or not.

Oats are never gluten free. These are "gloriously free" oats, which is deliberately misleading.
