- Smash Drums was already one of the BEST Quest 2 games, with an addictive "just one more song" gameplay loop it's been my favourite VR rhythm game for a long whilst and an absolute MUST OWN VR title for anyone interested in VR drumming or easy to pick up and play titles. This new Smash Drums update (Smash Drums Classic Mode) takes the game to an entirely new level of excellence, by giving you a full drum kit to play and the rolling fret board from classic rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band it feels better than ever to rock out in VR, it's now the most enjoyable and immersive VR drumming game out there. The original Arcade mode is still fully intact but for me personally the new Classic mode will likely be how I play Smash Drums VR going forward.

I hadn’t played this game in like a year and decided to play it again the other day and tried the new update! Now it’s one of my favorite games on quest ever! I’m so glad they added the classic mode! It makes it so much more immersive!
It would be super cool if they put you on the stage with the whole band and a crowd!!

I just love this game. I'm always playing this, especially after a couple of whiskies. I feel like a rock god. Anyway, I did reach out to the developers a while back after Taylor Hawkins from the Foo fighters died to see if they could maybe release a song pack, but obviously it was too soon. Maybe this could be a thing in the near future. Let's hope and many more licence packs which I would be more than happy to pay for.
I love this game. It became the only game I really play. The new update is so humbling. Went from Extreme and 20% faster to playing normal tempo on easy. It is so much more of a challenge but I love it!

I bought a Quest 2 after Christmas this year. Just bought Smash Drums today (my second VR game purchase). My daughter plays Beat Saber but I wanted something similar to the Rock Band experience I had when she was just a baby. It was quite therapeutic than and the VR experience today is amazing. I was sweating after hitting a few songs this afternoon. Great game. Highly recommenced.
First game I’m buying for sure thanks for the vid! My real Kit is in the shed when I had kids and miss playing although I think I’ll miss the bass drum pedal it’s the closest I’ll get.

As a massive drum fan I asked the VR community if there was any good ones you guys were main ones recommend to me, I just had trouble with trying to find out where to download/buy it- I was also wondering if you guys had licensed songs? And do you have a way for people to recommend songs to be added? So sorry for the random questions lol

Know this is a year old, but yea you are spot on. Was a fun enough game before for sure and was a favourite - but adding the Rock Band highway and the kit elevates this to god tier and its absolutely one of the top 10 VR games now. Just wish they could pump out more licensed tracks!
I bought this as soon as i saw this video. I don't remember having this much fun with beat saber. MAAAN this is such an amazing game. Hope this studio releases part two with better environments and better mechanics.

I just bought this yesterday for my Meta Quest 3, along with the 70's music pack, and OMG, I love it so much! I played for so long I ran down my battery and had to plug it in and play tethered. My shoulders hurt so badly today that i had to take tylenol after breakfast, but totally worth it. Are we allowed to share the Emorie songs on UA-cam?

Hey, test out Paradiddle, it support ALL songs from rockbands/guitar heroes as custom songs and also kick drum with your own kick pedal. You would be pro at that

I understand your excitement, Ben! It looks so amazing, very responsive and with enough balanced difficulty to be fun. More like a simulation of Rock Band drum set truly. I usually dismiss regularly rhytmical games about drumming, I find them particulary difficult, even tho Im someone with deep connection with musical world. But seeing you having so much fun immidiately makes me wanting for this game :D I will keep my eye on it, might be next in line to be bought. I understand that there might be better options that include custom songs, but this game just looks outright fun and simple, good point to start with it seems. I cant wait for a game that is like Rock Band, but in VR and through internet, like making multiplayer mix of Smash Drums, Unplugged and some kind of karaoke singing would be great and I picture this as a vehicle for bands with people all around the world joining together to play music, be it designed "levels" or their own music and improvisation, "creative mode". I think it is possible by now, but maybe not actually enjoyable, since the delay must be close to 0 to make it work. Im almost sure that someone is trying something like that right now, in VRChat or as a game or tool, enlighten me, UA-cam xD

Looks like fun, but I prefer the rock band since the real drum controller you use allows me to feel a solid stop when the drumsticks hit the pads. Air drumming seems hard for me to do.
I wouldn't worry about air drumming, once you get the beat of the song and a little practice it comes quite natural. There is also a arcade version where the drums come towards you and is solid gameplay.
I can see the boys seating up and getting their gear and 💩 and perform on live streams!
Remember when ubisoft made Rocksmith, they need rocksmith VR with real instruments (virtual sticks, guitars etc plugged in)
I'd pay for some Thrice DLC
I've been hooked on Drums Rock for the PSVR 2. I hope they add more songs to it soon!
rhythm games needs custom song support and a community to be great. That's why Beat Saber has always been on top.
I find smash drums to be one of the best vr rhythm games besides beat saber but it needs more songs and a mode where they have the drum set from classic mode but still have the drums fly at you, as well as adding foot tracking for the kick drum

Damn man I was so excited to buy this on sale since I used to kill it on rock band/guitar hero but I realized there wouldn't be a foot pedal. Is it really that fun without it?
I think it’s awesome even without a foot pedal. It’s so immersive that you can kinda forget about it.
Definitely! Though I wouldn’t compare it to Rockband on PC/Console since playing with actual drums and playing the air is a different feeling.
Though there might be foot pedal support in the future. The Quest already supports connecting one, it just needs to be implemented into the game. And since not nearly enough people are playing the game and it seems to be a single developer, supporting him by buying the game, might speed up new features 😁

I wonder if they added classic mode in the demo. I tried the demo, but all the stuff coming at me just wasn't my cup of tea, but this mode on the other hand, makes me interested in trying it again. Scandroid's Phoenix is one of my favorite songs in synth riders too.

Well... it looks fancy and all but if you enjoy drumming I highly recommend checking Paradiddle.
This looks like more like arcade fun, while Paradiddle is also to be taken as an instrument simulator

@@ParadiddleXR I suppose I haven't tried playing it hooked to my PC, but I was hoping it would play nice on standalone Quest. Its possible its the USB or dock I bought but they were just basic recommended items. The kicks have a certain latency with the pedal. I can groove with my sticks fairly well. Once the kick comes in I feel some sort of latency. Also, is it possible to wire two USB kick pedals to the bass kick and hihat? I have two hooked up but they both strike the same thing. Possibly a USB dock issue.

Holy crap check out Benjos drum skills! Rhythm games never really get me interested, as a musician I never really feel like they are as satisfying as actually playing. Not even close. However, playing a game like Rockband in VR on the Quest CO OP over the internet would be incredibly cool. I can't believe that isnt a thing... That's just me tho, most people don't plaay VR next to a fully set up drum kit and electric guitars and basses.

great game but someone needs to come up with a vr pedal controller. Also, I think they should make more concert themed environments instead of the doom and gloom hell environments. This would allow for parents to allow kids to play it :)

I saw drum and ran over! I agree with your criticism it needs more licensed songs so people can really really enjoyed it. I don't think I'd fully enjoy it without a wider variety of songs. So my search continues for the best VR/drum app until I can afford an electronic kit
Maybe you already read it in the other comments, but paradiddle has custom songs and is more of a sim than a game.

I like the songs on Ragnarock, don't like the gameplay on it. Getting licensed songs are WIP according to the developer.

I just tried the game for the first time.(I never played the drums)I love music games and I wanted an electric drum kit but luckily I found this game.
The demo mode doesn't do it justice, the classic mode is perfect. It feels like being the drummer at the concert, maybe I would like a little more immersion as a stage for a VR audience.
I imagine in the future being able to see free modes on drums in Classic mode to be able to do a concert and challenge your friends to duels.
The only "bad" thing about the game is that the song being played already has the sound of the drums.
When you hit your drums if they sound really, and quite loud and real.
When you get it wrong you'll hear like you failed because of the bad timing you did, but if you get it right on time you'll literally be fused with the drums of the song that's playing.
The game for 19.99 I think is the best option in VR for lovers of batteries.Its difficulty is medium, you have levels for all audiences.
The online mode looks really good, it's just playing you and the others in a giant circle and see who makes the most points or in Cooperative to points.
It feels immersive, I loved it.
You can sit quietly anywhere in your house and play the drums.
You can only describe how great it feels if you play it.
If you still doubted, buy it.
Have you tried Maestro VR? It’s on app lab and it’s amazing!
Also in early access on Steam, I join my recommendation (dont underestimate creative mode please)

Best Drum sim in VR! If they can capture your knees moving for kick drums, will be fantastic as well.
Wish they can also get bands like System of A Down, Foo Fighters, Machine Gun Kelly, Halsey , Linkin Park, Royal Blood, Red Hot Chili Pepper as DLC.

The kick drum may well come. There is a drum in that position you can't see. Although if it does it will be a trigger button I expect.
