We are LOVING our new e-Bikes and we are so happy that we discovered Electric Bike Company (EBC) in California! To see more about their hand-made, custom electric bikes (Made in America!!), check out their website: alnk.to/6TvOOLo . We appreciate EBC offering our community a discount code. Nice folks over there! To save $50 on an EBC e-Bike, use Coupon Code: RVTXYALL50.
I am 5 ft 4 inches tall. I’m 71 years old. I have a model Y with 24 inch wheels. It works great. Easy to get on and off. I tried so many Ebike brands. EBC seemed to work best for me.
I have a model Y. I love my Ebike. Very nice stabilization. I love the convenience of the Mik rack system. I’ve converted other bags so I can use them on my bike rack. Bike rides very smooth. I use it sometimes without PAS.
We are part times, gone 5-6 months each year. We bought Pedego bikes about 3 years ago. We love them. One of the best purchases we have made. We went with Pedego because of the dealer network and the ability to have them serviced whenever we have a need, which hasn’t been often. Also because they have a throttle which is great when starting off on an uphill, lol. Hope you enjoy your bikes as much as we do ours.
I never did hear you mention what the bike actually cost. We are considering an ebike so, like you, doing a lot of research to get the biggest bang for the buck. Good bike review and thanks for doing it.
Wow, this is a great educational video. Thank you so much! I'm going to do my due diligence and may be riding "my" E-bike with you soon! Keep 'em coming!
We bought two Lectric XP ebikes back in October 2019. These are Lectric’s first generation original models They have generation 2.0 out now. They have been a good bang for your buck ebike. We got two for $1800. Having had them now for two years they have held up good. We don’t use them as much as we thought we’d use them on our full time journey. We don’t like riding them on most public streets due to traffic so we mainly use them on rail to trails or city bike paths. We won’t ride them on highways. The XPs are folding and we keep the in our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited during travel. We then remove them and store outside under a Team Obsidian storage cover not the transport version. I discovered after a rain the seats were wet so I think the cover wicks where it touches the bike. I would put a hose to yours to test it for waterproof. Maybe a waterproof spray would help ours. If I were to buy ebikes again I would rather have one with 26” wheels like yours. Lectric are 20” and 4” wide (the 2.0 models are 20”, 3” wide). I’m 5’10 and feel the frame is just a little small. I adjust the seat and handle bar but the crank and pedals seem a little too far under me so my feet slip off the pedals when pedaling aggressively up a hill. The XP is basically unrideable without motor assist even with a 7 speed derailleur unless the road is flat due to its weight o 59lbs. The slightest hill and even in the lowest gear it’s too hard. Our XPs don’t have a front hydraulic fork so rough roads are not enjoyable. Despite getting a hydraulic seat post and Cloud 9 seats our comfortable range for the bikes is still under 10 mile because of sore butts. Maybe we should try some padded cycling shorts. We use Sena R1 Bluetooth helmets so we can talk to each other while riding. We always keep the batteries out of the bikes when not using the bikes. The hot sun and cold temperatures can affect the battery lifespan if they are stored in the frame all the time. If you don’t plan to use the bikes for a while then store the batteries at about 80% charged. With the bikes on the back of your Jeep and covered are the taillights covered. I’d wonder if the police would pull you over for having obstructed taillights.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, we are actively searching for taillight extensions to add to the bike rack. The only downside we've seen to these bikes so far is that they are big on the back of the Jeep and when we add the transport bag, they look huge. We look forward to using them to get around in the larger parks and on rails to trails. We don't plan to ride them in traffic areas either. Thanks for the tip on the cover. We need to check it for water passage.
wow!!! Really going modern for 2022. Glad y'all found new bikes for Christmas. Thanks for the update, and Good Luck with new traveling experiences. Stay Safe. Merry Christmas !!! Grammy Kay
Nice review of the bikes. It looks like a blast to ride. Could you do an update on the solar install. Maybe a review of the pro's, con's, regrets, likes, and or do overs. Any advice for RV'rs looking to do a similar install?
Great idea! We will definitely do an update on the solar and lithium install. We have a lot planned for this year that will be great tests of it. Stay tuned.
We have had e-bikes for just over 2 years. It is a big investment but for us, being in our 60's, it helped us get out and move more. Riding on an electric bike is very exhilarating. It was like being young again. I joke that we feel like we have been given a super power. Silly, I know. We don't worry when out on them that we will get too far from home to return without incident or us just getting tired. We love them. They are heavy to move when not riding. I think that makes their weight the only draw back. We don't have the same brand as you but we love them. The batteries hold a charge for a surprisingly long time. We chose a Thule XL bike rack that is rated for the weight of our bikes but it isn't working well. It needs to be longer and wider especially since we added a wire basket to my bike. We are on the look out for a better rack to fit our bikes. Anyway, love the bikes and hope you enjoy them for years to come!
Glad to hear y'all are enjoying your e-bikes. We're looking forward to enjoying them, but yes, they are quite a bit larger on the back of the Jeep. Sorry to hear your rack isn't working out well. We'll be watching ours closely.
Awesome and thorough review. Scott got the Lectric bike in the spring and I just got one but haven’t tried it yet. I like the features of this one and kind of wish I’d have waited and seen yours first. Maybe next time we see you I can compare. 👍
Not on these bikes but they do offer that option! Click here to check them out: classic.avantlink.com/click.php?tool_type=ml&merchant_link_id=2adb59a7-d765-4f95-8640-55fa82164074&website_id=c1593816-39f6-4a1e-8df9-3bd1d747dd5b
We don’t really use it because when we cover the bikes for travel you can’t see our break lights on the Jeep so we leave them uncovered fir travel & don’t need the net when we cover them at the campground. We tried a different lighting system that we attached to the bike cover but it didn’t work so the net then wasn’t needed. That experiment failed but all is good!
Hey y’all that is a great review of those bikes. We currently on the electric fat tire bikes folding versions and are considering changing because of the features that you have displayed with these bikes. Thomyt
Those bikes look amazing!! Question off topic noticed your flag in the background of video how do you have the flag pole bracket attached to your coach?
Great video! Could you do an update on how things are holding up? I used to have a Pedego and loved it, at first. I rode it all over the city, keeping it on paved trails and road but within a few months, the bolts and plastic case that hold the battery on the back fender started to crack. Eventually, I had to use a cord to hold the battery in place so it wouldn't fall out of the bike. It shook like crazy and I ended up selling the whole bike. I am definitely ready to get a new one but am not able to test these out locally so any advice or feedback about how the built in battery is holding up, and everything else, would be great! Thank you :)
Thank you for reviewing. Our issue is my husband's knee doesn't bend to be able to ride a bike. I wonder how long the battery goes if he rides only with the assist. (7 knee procedures in 5 years)
That's a great question Pamm. The batteries in ours are rated for 50 miles, but I'm not sure how much assist that is with. They do have an option for a larger battery as well and some models can option in a second battery. It would be worth a call to EBC to ask the question: electricbikecompany.com/
It would be a pain to remove the front basket. It's bolted on to the frame with 4 big bolts. We have bags that we can place in the basket and then take with us as we shop.
Hi Joyce! We got in on the introductory offer of this model. It is currently listed as $1699. All of their pricing and customization options are listed on their website: electricbikecompany.com/
Howdy Y'all! Great choice in bikes and colors I might add! We rented e-bikes when we were in Europe last month and really liked them, but the seat was very uncomfortable for me, the misses not so much. My question (Tom) is how are the seat for you? I will admit, we were on the bikes in Amsterdam almost all day long riding around the city and maybe that added my (ache). Merry Christmas and Safe Travels!
Hey Ben! Tom says he really likes the seat. It's a big seat with a good amount of foam and springs underneath. But in fairness, we haven't been on them all day yet. Merry Christmas!!
As I learnt on my e bike, men tend to ride as fast as possible, so you will get exercise regardless! Always good to ride past Lycra clad Tour de France wanna bes!! I am really looking forward to your long term review.
Great review! Do you know how many watts the motor is rated for? The website just has the maximum watts which doesn’t help in determining the number of hours you can ride the bike at full throttle. It appears that the option for the higher amp-hr battery might be worth looking into so you can extend the battery life when you take long rides. I’ve been looking at e-bikes for a while now but have avoided them primarily because the bikes that have the best overall battery performance have been really expensive. These appear to be reasonably priced.
Thanks John! Great question. We have the basic EBC batteries that have a max range of about 50 miles on a charge. Their FAQ page says you can expect about 20 miles out of them without pedaling. They do have options for larger batteries and some models can now opt for 2 batteries as well. electricbikecompany.com/frequently-asked-questions/
Really nice bikes. Look effertless to ride and a lot of fun. You made great choices. Looking forward of hearing in the future what battery range you are actually getting and how they are performing for you.
Would it be possible for you to give me info on free sites you have used in Texas? If there is one video where you tell about them I cant locate it. I would so appreciate it !! Thanks, Dee Hart
Hi Dee. Sorry we can't be of much help with that at this point. The only "free" sites we've stayed in so far are Harvest Host sites. Texas doesn't have BLM land. There are a few beaches where free camping is allowed, but some of those do require a parking pass. Check with the county or town that you are interested in visiting.
Beautiful bikes. Really considering this brand because of the buckhorn style handlebars. You didn't mention how far you can go on a charge. Love your videos!
Hi Gloria! Our batteries are rated for a 50 mile max. Their FAQ page says expect 20 miles without pedaling. They have a larger battery as an option and some models can option in 2 batteries.
$2K and that's the cheap one. Can I get what you guys are smoking. Allow me to simply drop that amount on my card and pay it back over the next year while my automobile suffers maintenance needs N O T !!!!

Great video! Thanks for all the information. The basket not turning with the handlebar might throw me off, glad you showed that too.
That is definitely different but we have gotten used to it!
You get used to basket not turning.

About $1800 plus the accessories
Great video. One of my favorites
Thanks, we love the bikes!
Wow, this is a great educational video. Thank you so much! I'm going to do my due diligence and may be riding "my" E-bike with you soon! Keep 'em coming!
Glad you enjoyed it Dennis! 😁
I am surprised you didn't get the bikes painted the same as the coach. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. Good video.
It's close Bill. 😉 Merry Christmas!

EBikes are awesome. Hey RV Texas Y’all. We made it to Texas. We are at Lake Conroe in Willis Texas. Thanks for sharing this amazing video.
Welcome to Texas!
Which bungee net did you buy for your bike covers and does it work well?

Those bikes look amazing!! Question off topic noticed your flag in the background of video how do you have the flag pole bracket attached to your coach?
Hey Rusty! Newmar has an optional flag pole bracket that they mounted on the side of the RV.
@@rvamericayall thank you for reply want to mount one on our coach too. Happy holiday's. Will you be in quartzite rv show January 2022?

You will enjoy!! We were at the resort in September and rode ours to the beach and all through Jamaica Beach
Awesome Richard!
Love the bikes. Special note as of this writing, central freight lines went out of business 😔. (3 days ago) . We used them often in our freight.
Thanks Dennis! That's just nuts! We're so glad we got our bikes when we did. We literally just beat the closure.

" Look effertless to ride and a lot of fun. " This is my fear of buyiong one, becuase I could buy a cheap scooter if I don't get exercise
My sister loves her ebike! Thanks for the great review!
You're welcome! Glad to hear.
So good sharing brother and sister ❤️🙏
Thanks
HEY YALL I REALLY LIKE YOUR LIKE BIKES.
Thanks, we do too!
think i would like the 7spd because if the battery happens to die will be able to shift into easier gear on a small hill
Great point Boyd

That red bike looks like the ones in dc that we rented. They was black and yes rent the electric bikes because u can go all day with out getting tired
We are really enjoying it Randy
Woww must be very expensive bikes. Enjoy your ride Sir.
Nice review
Thanks Dave!
Love our lectric E bikes. That way we donthave to drive our 10 mile a gal truck.
Great point Clayton

The trucking company that delivered your bicycles just closed their doors.
We saw that Tony! Wow... glad we got them when we did.
"Made", or assembled with imported parts?
assembled (barely) with 90% chinesium parts. Its a joke to call this 'made' in USA. that is their only attribute. heavy ebikes, and basically crap.
Fully assembled by hand in California with parts from all over the world.
You both look heathy enough to not need electric bikes. They look fun.
Thanks Gary. You're right, but we're hoping to be able to ride further and in places with hills more easily.
So many utubers are doing the same thing. Getting a little tired of full length commercials 😒
$2K and that's the cheap one. Can I get what you guys are smoking. Allow me to simply drop that amount on my card and pay it back over the next year while my automobile suffers maintenance needs
N O T !!!!
Looks as if ya'll didn't have a wonderful time at all 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤘🤣
😂😂
I took delivery of my Model E a few weeks ago. It gets better as you get familiar with the bike.
Awesome!
