Hey Russ, just WOW......WOW! The ultimate bike, the quality, customization, style, the wood chain guard and fenders, the tan grips and saddle, the gorgeous blue color, and that James Bond rear bag😂I think this bike was designed by "Q" You did a great job on customizing this bike with so many options. You should arrange a group ride. Also I like the bike yet expensive.its an investment with the warranty being one of the best is great. With 2 batteries will last a long time because you are not always charging and draining one only . 2 batteries share the load and the distance is great.
Hey Russ, Great choice on the color and the 60's style woody beach station wagon look. I got to say I am not a fan of the frame style and the wide swept back handlebars. I have a cheap version (extremely cheep version of this bike coming out in tomorrows review... Frame a little different, but to be honest i don't like it either. The handlebars are just to wide and swept back for this 65 year old. Your bike is beautiful, but definitely not my style or as many might say my lack of style. If you find this comment offensive, please please feel free to take it down. I understand completely. Peace and happy riding my friend.
Everyone has their preferences so no big deal. They make other frame styles but the quality is consistent throughout the line, so there is always another option for those who prefer a different style.
@@RussIsRight absolutely, It surely does not look cheap at all. Looks very well put together and I see a certain group would buy it. The color you choose is money for sure. Love it and helmet to match...I think its that lower bar on the frame and the oversized handlebars. Great job getting all that long distance power too. Have a good one and summer weather is finally upon us.
500 watt motor + all that battery... I bet you really do get outrageous range out of that thing. I bet you could do the botanic garden a few times. I actually prefer 500 watt motors myself because I get much better battery life out of them.
Wow, what a gorgeous bike. The wood trim is so cool that goes with the saddle and handlebars. It is very classy. The basket and liner are very attractive. So amazing that is can be so customized. I tried the beach cruiser style handle bars on a bike once and did not care for the feel of them. But glad they work for you. The spokes and crankset in the silver are great looking. Oh, is the back rack bag from them too? The sparkly black battery pack is sharp. I am so happy you got to get this ebike.
That is one GREAT looking bike Russ, my friend says you are now an honorary "Carolina Tar Heel" in their beautiful sky blue. I wish I knew about EBC 3 years ago when I bought the Pedego Interceptor. My next bike very well could be a Model S or Y, great video...!
In a word: WOW. Talk about customization!! I didn't hear you mention the tires (I tried to watch it 2x). They didn't look like fat tires. I like the bike but way too heavy, the standard model is OK weight wise. Great review, nice bike... fantastic customization options.
They lace their spokes but they have a machine that tightens and trues the wheel. They show that in a few factory tour videos. I still prefer the single speed because I don't want to bother switching gears up and down all of the time... but then again, I haven't tried the 7-speed before... so maybe I'd change my mind if I tried it.
Congrats on the bike. It is an exceptionally good looking bike. I can’t imagine spending that much for a bike (I mean, you can get a pretty decent motorcycle for that price), but it’s interesting seeing such a high end offering.
Wow, they finally sent you one to test out. That's awesome Russ! After sifting through tons of different brands and features, this company was the runner up for me. Mainly because I'm not partial to any of their frame styles, although if the model R had a step over version, then that would've been tempting. But also because they don't have upgrades to their motors. Having said that, they do beautiful work for sure, for those of us who don't mind spending a little more for something that will perform better and last longer. They also have an awesome 45 minute factory tour video here on UA-cam that is pretty amazing, for anyone that wants to check them out a little closer. I ended up ordering from a Canadian company named Biktrix, hoping it ships next week. Not to take away from what you have going on here, but here is a link for what I have coming. Very nice bike Russ, i like how they are custom built and painted. Looks very high end. I think they will make a name for themselves as a luxury brand, i like the logo too. I’m surprised a 36ah battery can fit in the front rack! I bet that battery is 25+ pounds! I’m surprised by the final weight, those batteries add up. The range will be crazy! 🎊 🎉 looking forward to some rides on the bike!
That's a really nice bike. Not my style though and the weight, wow! They should offer a more powerful motor option when it's set up like this to help overcome the weight.
The Basil MIK rack system is something i am trying to find here in Canada, but only the adapter plates, one adapter you install making holes in your bag to fit the screws ,the other you install on your rear rack up tp 150mm wide. Beautiful bike Russ. 2 things: You need to spend some time leveling the basket 😂, and I would like your thoughts on the swept back (and very wide) handlebars vs conventional style.
The handlebars make it very comfortable to ride. Not everyone will prefer this however. Still, if you want a fully upright riding position, it's very nice.
Beautiful bike! Really appreciate the review. How does it feel on your leg extension when you pedal? I think you keep your seat low enough so that your toes can touch the ground if you need to stop. So, with this cruiser style, is it different from a typical bike?
I always do full extension on my bikes (well, near full extension... I do it the proper way for bike extension), so my feet do not touch the ground when I stop any bike. I need to hop off of each bike when I stop. No difference to me about whether it is a cruiser style or any other style when it comes to how I pedal.
Seems like full leg extension would not be that important for generating power on ebikes with a cadence sensor and multiple PAS levels. Do you prefer it just because it is easier on your knee?
Regarding the hill test, you got the 7-speed which allows pedalling to be even more helpful going up hills... but throttle only... not so much. Pedal! I'm guessing you could do quite well going up the hill if you set it at pedal assist 5 and pedalled. I pedal ALL THE TIME except when I've gotten to the mid-20s MPH... and then I'd probably coast some... but going up hills, even with my single-speed, I set it at pedal assist 5 and pedal... and I have no trouble with hills. I don't have any really steep hills in my area... but there are quite a few overpasses that are hilly enough. I do understand your knee issue but hopefully you can pedal sometimes... and obviously going up a hill, you'd not be at top speed and not having to pedal super fast... and I'd imagine the 7-speed in a higher gear would really reduce the rotation speed. In theory, you could get a second motor on the front wheel, that hooks up to the front battery. They've made a few dual-battery bikes but I"m not sure if that would be a possible option on the Model S or not. Dual motors are definitely NOT an option you can pick from their standard build web-page.
The hill test I do for all the bikes is throttle only just to see how well it does on its own. Of course, pedaling would help, but I'm comparing its own power ability compared to the other bikes I have.
Hi Russ, can you comment on the helmet in this video a little bit? I'm thinking about doing a custom color helmet to match my brand of e-bike but I wanted to get your take on comfort, fit etc. How do you like the magnetic buckle? And what about the lights? Main thing would be comfort and safety of course. I see that it is CPSC rated but not MIPS which I found interesting. Keep up the good work my friend!
It's a nice helmet, but I think I probably should have gotten a medium instead of a large. Anyway, the lights are quite bright... brighter than the Xnito that I usually wear. It's comfortable enough I suppose, but I think I could have made a better judgement call if I had ordered the right size. The magnetic clasps work well, but take a little getting used to the first time you use it. And yes, there is no MIPS and no 28 mph rating either. I think its main thing is that you can customize the color.
Oh, in regards to “the hill test” that is strictly with a throttle right? So if someone used the throttle and pedaled I would assume it would go over the hill a lot easier. I have steep hills around here. I have to boost the PAS and lower the gears. I do not even use the throttle. 😊
Nice looking bike. To make this a top of the line bike it needs Gates Belt drive system. Unfortunately this bike model is equipped with a dirty, nasty problem prone old fashion chain drive. Considering a bike priced $3000 to $5000 I want the best, not some system that been around for at least 100 years.
