I tried the beach cruiser style handle bars on a bike once and did not care for the feel of them. But glad they work for you. The spokes and crankset in the silver are great looking. They lace their spokes but they have a machine that tightens and trues the wheel. They show that in a few factory tour videos. I still prefer the single speed because I don't want to bother switching gears up and down all of the time... but then again, I haven't tried the 7-speed before... so maybe I'd change my mind if I tried it.

    Hey Russ, Great choice on the color and the 60's style woody beach station wagon look. I got to say I am not a fan of the frame style and the wide swept back handlebars. I have a cheap version (extremely cheep version of this bike coming out in tomorrows review... Frame a little different, but to be honest i don't like it either. The handlebars are just to wide and swept back for this 65 year old. Your bike is beautiful, but definitely not my style or as many might say my lack of style. Regarding the hill test, you got the 7-speed which allows pedalling to be even more helpful going up hills... but throttle only... not so much. Pedal! I'm guessing you could do quite well going up the hill if you set it at pedal assist 5 and pedalled. I pedal ALL THE TIME except when I've gotten to the mid-20s MPH... and then I'd probably coast some... but going up hills, even with my single-speed, I set it at pedal assist 5 and pedal... and I have no trouble with hills. I don't have any really steep hills in my area... but there are quite a few overpasses that are hilly enough. I do understand your knee issue but hopefully you can pedal sometimes... and obviously going up a hill, you'd not be at top speed and not having to pedal super fast... and I'd imagine the 7-speed in a higher gear would really reduce the rotation speed.
    In theory, you could get a second motor on the front wheel, that hooks up to the front battery. They've made a few dual-battery bikes but I"m not sure if that would be a possible option on the Model S or not. Dual motors are definitely NOT an option you can pick from their standard build web-page.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Рік тому

      The hill test I do for all the bikes is throttle only just to see how well it does on its own. Of course, pedaling would help, but I'm comparing its own power ability compared to the other bikes I have.

I'm thinking about doing a custom color helmet to match my brand of e-bike but I wanted to get your take on comfort, fit etc. How do you like the magnetic buckle? And what about the lights? Main thing would be comfort and safety of course. I see that it is CPSC rated but not MIPS which I found interesting. Keep up the good work my friend!

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Рік тому

      It's a nice helmet, but I think I probably should have gotten a medium instead of a large. Anyway, the lights are quite bright... brighter than the Xnito that I usually wear. It's comfortable enough I suppose, but I think I could have made a better judgement call if I had ordered the right size. The magnetic clasps work well, but take a little getting used to the first time you use it. And yes, there is no MIPS and no 28 mph rating either. I think its main thing is that you can customize the color.

    Wow, they finally sent you one to test out. That's awesome Russ! After sifting through tons of different brands and features, this company was the runner up for me. Mainly because I'm not partial to any of their frame styles, although if the model R had a step over version, then that would've been tempting. But also because they don't have upgrades to their motors. Having said that, they do beautiful work for sure, for those of us who don't mind spending a little more for something that will perform better and last longer. They also have an awesome 45 minute factory tour video here on UA-cam that is pretty amazing, for anyone that wants to check them out a little closer. I ended up ordering from a Canadian company named Biktrix, hoping it ships next week. Not to take away from what you have going on here, but here is a link for what I have coming. Not inexpensive but high performance, limited edition and American made/welded frame which is very rare:

    Incidentally, electric bike company will do custom paint on their E bike helmets to match any brand so I will probably take advantage of that!
    In addition to all of your videos that helped me out and continue to do so Russ, following are 2 more that helped me out immensely in my decision making process:
    Mid drive versus hub Drive:

    Things to consider before purchasing your first E-bike:

    Keep up the great work Mr. Right!

    Who makes the motor? Does Electric Bike Company manufacture their own motor, controller, & batteries?

      I am not sure, but I believe it is their own motor. Not sure who makes the controller. As for the battery, the make their own using name brand cells.

      One size only.

      They do offer smaller tires though. 24” for petite people it says on their website. For me the 27 “ tires are too big.

      My mistake in typing! The tires are either 26” (not 27”) or 24”. Sorry!

    They gave a $5,000 bicycle to the UA-camr with only 17000 subscribers?!
    Hell, the video about the bike that even have 100 comments.
    I was legitimately thinking about buying a bicycle from this company until I saw this video and realized how they make poor decisions like giving bicycles to someone with so little subscribers that no one will see the five $5000 bicycle they have said UA-camr.

      It's not only about subscriber count. Many UA-camrs with lots of subscriber counts ride the bike only for the review and then sell off the bike, never to be shown or ridden again. At least I ride many of the bikes given to me for many videos. That is worth more sometimes than just one video and that's it. And to make you think worse about me... this bike was given to me when I had even less subscribers than 17,000. Quality of videos is worth more than just subscriber count. I have a very good subscriber base who trust what I have to say about the bikes.
