Only thing that would make this bike better would be a torque sensor, or at least give you the option to order it.

We are pleased to inform you that after this review was filmed, the founder of EBC added a torque sensor option to this model. The cost of that option is $150. The base price of this model was also reduced to under $2,000. We have a coupon code in the description for an additional $100 in savings.

They do give you that option, as of this past year.

Miss G.E. you should wear cycling gloves, it will prevent any slippage of the handles and brakes also protect your pretty hands from road rash should you take an unfortunate fall.

Protective gear is always smart. Implementing all available equipment rarely convenient for casual cruising. Striking that balance looks different for everyone. Fortunately for us, after this review was filmed, the founder of EBC immediately began sourcing rubber grips and even involved us in the selection process. They now offer some outstanding rubber options. They also designed metal fenders as a result of this review. They look great and feel a lot more robust. It is a true privilege to have some small impact on eMobility offerings in the marketplace. Thank you for commenting. -Producer Tim

Yes, I wear fingerless cycling gloves 9 months of the year, and full cycling gloves the other three months. Absolutely no problems with slippage on the grip for me.

I noticed this model is available with a gear driven and a direct drive motor. Also optional torque sensor and rubber hand grips are available. What is your preference regarding the motor ? Direct drive or gear driven . Love the configuration of your bike. Great channel !

When we did our review years ago, there were fewer options. Belt drive/single gear is good for those who do not intend to pedal much.

I'd get a Model R if my custom kit e-bike ever gave up the ghost, no question. What's not to like? It's definitely a winner! With that amount of power, battery, pedal assistant levels, I might even forego a shifter and gears and just go with a direct drive.

This style of bike lends itself well to a silent belt drive. We would love to see more brands implement chainless design. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

I love the look of this bike.. I'm confused about the battery warranty. You stated the bike has a 5 year warranty but the EBC website states 2 year battery warranty. Could you clarify ? Thanks.

The new torque sensor option and rubber grips address a preference and critique of yours respectively. Premium colors ratchet up the cost on every part it is applied to. Grateful for the wide swath of colors at the entry price but even with the price reduction this is a huge premium. I’m assuming stated mileage is with pedal assist. What’s not clear is will the 5A charger upgrade charge the main and double basket battery simultaneously❓ With all that weight are there plans for an identical front hub motor for longer grade climbs❓

.. I've seen a prototype that had dual motors and if you search UA-cam I believe that you'll find it. As far as the 'distance' estimates in the real world I'd expect 50% to 70%. For example the 150 mile range on mostly throttle I would expect somewhere around 75 mile range. Regarding colors, when I contacted them just recently, they will paint any Sherwin-Williams automotive paint you choose for the price of their metallics, and the color shift paint at least the impression that I got that would be the same price as their metallic. However, when I tried to reply to their email, it's been days and they have not replied back, which is kind of frustrating considering I'm ready to let go of nearly $5,500+. I'm trying to get my bike painted in Hawaiian Purple with black accents and red rims.

"Rolls Royce of eBikes what would you be looking for" .. I'm considering the Model R but when I'm pricing it and the cost is climbing over $5,500 then I start noticing missing features like: 1. No Belt Drive, 2. No Rohloff or similar sealed geared hub, 3. No Bosch or similar mid-drive option, 4. No rear suspension. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the customization. Because of their bikes, I'm seriously looking into buying some ebike shortly.

Please understand this video was originally filmed and published on the primary Miss GoElectric channel in 2022. Ebike prices have plummeted and features have advanced significantly. A fully customized version of this bike can be purchased for under $2,000 today.
The references to Rolls Royce were indeed targeted at the hand-built nature of the bike, unrivaled customization, and enormous variety of optional features available. Watch our factory tour and CEO interview to see what we mean:
      ua-cam.com/video/4ks-RBVRkiM/v-deo.html
We might push back on the idea that a Bosch mid drive is a smarter choice than this EBC motor with a much longer 10year warranty. We enjoy mid-drive eBikes, but we think hub motors are more user friendly and appropriate for most casual riders shopping in the comfort bike category.
We are of the opinion that there is no realized advantage to a rear suspension on this particular bike which has a suspension seatpost.
You'll be able to find dozens of detailed eBike reviews along with valuable coupon codes at deals.missgoelectric.com
We hope that resource is helpful to you in your search for the most appropriate eBike.

@@MissGoElectricRideReviews .. What I described would last nearly forever and wouldn't be that much more in cost. Right now I started looking into the Gazelle ebikes. Regarding a rear suspension, not a problem until you hit a pothole at nearly 30 mph. I'm trying to educate myself before I toss nearly $6K. The Model R sells for around $5,500 with a 150 mile battery pack.

    • @MissGoElectricRideReviews
      @MissGoElectricRideReviews  3 місяці тому

Gazelle is not in the same league as Electric Bike Company. Their batteries, motors, and other components have a 2 year warranty compared to EBC's 10 year warranty. They are imported from China and stamped out with no customization. EBC assembles in the USA with unrivaled customization.
A Model R with the maximum battery pack array (30Ah @ 45V or 1440Wh) starts at $2,997 before our coupon code is applied. If a full suspension eBike with a giant battery at a low price is your objective, the Aniioki AQ177 has 2x the battery capacity with base level components for $1500. We've reviewed it here: ua-cam.com/video/-9aIGa-Xysg/v-deo.html

@@DJaquithFL 1) EBC offers front fork suspension as well as seat suspension.
      2) If you want a belt drive, go with another brand.
      3) This e-bike can attain a max speed of 28 mph with a simple computer adjustment. No real need for 99,9% of e-bike riders to go "at nearly 30 mph".
      4) NO EBIKE will give you 150 miles of battery range, especially at high speeds. ALL manufacturers, over inflate their range numbers.
      5) If you MUST have your bike completely customized, you will pay for that. I bought a straight-forward model from EBC, adding only a rear rack. No other customization. Been riding it for 18 months and have clocked 3,600 miles on the bike with minimal, standard maintenance. I hope you find a bike that you will be happy with. Good luck, sir.

@@watchmanonthewall14 .. Since my post and a windfall stock option I ordered a Riese & Müller Homage 4 GT Rohloff HS, with all the options just a tad under $15K. However if I have somebody custom paint it probably add another $2K.
