I live in Montana so no beaches for me... and I use it (I have a Model S) for one-way commuting... as I take the bike into work on a public bus... and ride home the 15+ miles. I like the comfort, quality and power. Prior to this bike I had a Giant LaFree E+1 and the EBC smokes that bike power wise. I'm sure you know the higher power bikes much, much better than I do... but yeah, I actually pedal and use assist. The only time I'm "throttle only" might be just getting it going from a complete stop. I can tell you it has easily handled any hills I've seen in the wild, especially with me pedaling... but no, perhaps the famous, steep San Francisco hills aren't doable... and one would probably need to get off at some point and walk it the rest of the way. Those are the exceptions and not the rule. Their custom color paint jobs (beyond the stock choices of black, white, and red or any combination of those) really adds to the price... so those of us on a budget go with the stock color options... and that's the best value for the money. Don't get me wrong, they do a top quality job on their in-house custom painting... and one can design a killer color combo... but yeah, it does definitely impact the price. EBC is really making quality bikes at reasonable prices.
You get what you pay for. When you were describing the bike I'm like this is one sweet bike. All the wood on it, the big nice seat, the basket with the battery in the bottom, the rear rack, the fenders, the chain guard, almost forgot the front suspension, it's a good looking bike and it's well-made. Whoever designed this bike put a lot of thought into it. Yeah the price is a little high and it's not a hill climber, but that's one nice bike. I would buy this bike in a minute if I wasn't into BBS HD and I didn't like to go fast. I bought my Norco new. I bought a kit and battery from you. Then you get the bike and you start putting all the features you like on it. It all adds up. This bike has most of them. Nice job on the review. The electric bike company did a nice job designing it.
@@JohnnyNerdOut could I ask you some advice about a Sparta ion rx+ e-bike? I’m in the uk and have an issue I’m stuck with.. the manufacturer won’t help as I’m not in NL and no repair store here will work on it!!

That looks pretty nice! I have messed around with something similar as far as frame mounting the battery on the front like that. When a basket is attached to the forks it can get dangerous when stuff inside shifts around, so it's nice to see the front frame mount become standardized. The first thing I would toss are those handlebars. I feel like a T-Rex using beach cruiser handlebars and they hurt my wrists. I really don't understand how people can get used to them unless you never turn. Maybe it's just me?
EBC makes quality stuff. The base bikes are good but once you start getting into customizing the prices jump. Have to love that they have so many options though, you can make a bought e-bike truly your own. I'd consider them among the top of my list...if I weren't a mid-drive devotee & prefer to DIY. In the same genre as this, Priority just released an e-beach cruiser. They're a bicycle company & this is only their second e-bike. I love the company ethos of striving for low maintenance on all their bikes. I hope you look into them and do a video some day. In full disclosure: I may be biased by Priority being a NYC based company (their main office a rideable distance if I have enough of a charge;).

Heavy battery weight in front of the steering isn't ideal. High CG and added steering resistance. If you want a stylish paint job, EBC can deliver a lot more than the sparkly purple. It wouldn't get up the hills below our street...same incline but many times longer.
When it comes out, would you make a video about the arcimoto mean lean machine? There aren't many e trikes on the market yet and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how it stacks up vs regular ebikes and vs cars.

Ya I actually have a belt driven priority bike that I’ve been meaning to convert for over a year now. I also like that company too 👍
