If i can be blasphemous for a moment. I switched from carrying glock 26 to pt111. Capacity, ergonomics and manual safety (have kiddos) were the determining factors. 1000+ rounds through both and find them equally reliable (no misfires, ftf, fte etc with either) i am a converted skeptic on the pt111 g2. Enjoy the review!

That's spot on! I have shot all kinds of ammo through my PT111 and no jams at all. My friends with the high dollar pistols have had jams and hate that I can use any ammo in my pistol. I even converted a Glock guy to the PT111 after a day on the range.

    Let me tell a story:
I bought the G2 about 2yrs ago because it was on sale for $200 at Academy. I ran tons of ammo through it: white box, steel case, HP, local ammo shop reloads... etc. Never a single hiccup. Ever. Up to about 500 rounds. Never shot over 10yds cuz it's a carry gun, but my 10yd groups were about 4 inches. Not bad, but that's on me, not the gun.
So, one day on a whim, I sold it. At the time I sold it for a tiny profit but it was enough to get me into another gun.....
After that, "Buy sell buy sell", was the name of the game. Several firearms I went through but never found one that covered all parameters like the PT-111. Either felt clunky in hand or sacrificed capacity, or, like all the fanboy faves- had an asking price of near a whole paycheck! One gun even had an unmentionable amount of misfeeds, light strikes, wouldn't seat in battery, etc.... F that!
    So... I came back home....
I recently bought the new G2C (revealed at Shot show), which is basically the 111 without the safety key lock on the slide. I bought it for an insane $195 + FFL transfer fee!! I immediately bought a steel guide rod, TFO night sights, and an upgraded SAO skeleton trigger. All upgrades = $130.
    Total cost: ~$355.
Then I Duracoated it. Supposed to be "coyote brown" but I call bad@$$ brown!
For an unbeatable gun with tremendous reliability/ durability, concealability, a trigger that's EVERY bit as good as most strikers- weightless uptake, defined wall, very crisp break, short reset & night sights to boot!
Come at me haters!! This gun is bad@$$ & brown!!!!!

      Raven Armer Yes! Exactly.
The only reason Glock is "reliable" and has a good reputation is because 30 years ago Glock won the contract to provide weapons for military (or LE, whichever).
That's it. It's a fluke. Otherwise it must be noted that the glock today looks like the glock from 1991. They look like a 2x4.

Glock is the iPhone of the gun world. Was innovative when it dominated the market but now there are so many cheaper options that are honestly just as good and good forbid even better. That doesn't mean that they are bad at all just that they are relying simply on name brand and legacy alone to convince you that it's the best option but at it's price range you have just as good options

Seeing as how the PT111 G2 is basically a Glock knockoff, I'd say they got the design down pat. The execution however... is mostly hit and sometimes miss. Woe to the man who needs to send his gun into Taurus while they have their recall backlog. (Recall was a different gun with a similar name)

Yes and Smith and Wesson was successfully sued by Glock for literally "copying" a patent regarding one of their Striker Fired 9mm(s) and cannot name the specific weapon and or series. Smith and Wesson must pay Glock a percentage of their profits indefinitely for the patent violation.

I had the first generation Taurus millennium pro190 .45 cal. Had it for 10 years and fired hundreds or even thousands or rounds through it with no issues. Then one year ago took I to the range and it went FULL AUTO. One trigger pull went into a three round burst. Called Taurus and was notified about the lawsuit/recall. Sent it back (at no charge to me) and it took about 8months but I got my replacement gun at NO CHARGE. I got a Taurus G2C. I wasn't happy at first going from a .45 to a 9mm but I am very happy with it so far. Took it out for the first time and it hit exactly where I was aiming. I tried my brother's department issue Glock and it was shooting 6 inches left at 6 yards and almost 10 inches left at 10 yards. Still cannot figure out how he qualifies with that gun. To site the Glock you gotta take a tool and tap the rear sight to slide it (not very precise). On the G2C is has two screws to adjust the rear site which can be very precise. I need to go shoot a few more rounds in the G2C to test reliability but so far I have total confidence in it.

My opinion of Taurus is that, in the past, they've had just too many models, and quality suffered. They've since trimmed down their lines in the auto pistol segment, and now are working to get the production quality right with fewer different frames to deal with.

I have owned the Taurus PT111 G2 now for 3 months. Put many rounds through it. Carry every day. I finally switched my daily carry from a S&W Air Weight 6 round revolver (Great Gun for over 35+ Years) to the Taurus. I did a great deal of research on which semi-automatic I wanted to purchase. The Taurus PT111 G2 won out in all cases based on reviews and price. One of the deciding factors was the after market support that is available for the Taurus. Holsters, springs, etc. I love the look of the Taurus. I have successfully run over 300 rounds through the gun without a hiccup. I encourage you to look around in You Tube and see the many positive remarks about the Taurus. In particular the stress test put on by ua-cam.com/video/a1qxyY4UGjE/v-deo.html. Kotaboy32 Tactical. The gun is subjected to water, mud, sand, etc. Flawless performance under very stressful conditions. Taurus has outdone itself with this firearm, especially for the money you invest.

To the disbelief of some out there, glocks do have a failure rate! As far as perfection goes why do glocks have such a weak ejection pattern. They look like "Billy Bob " spitting out watermelon seeds . Personally I'm not spending 500.00 plus for a pistol to have hot brass hit my arm and face. Now that pt111 throws that brass like nobody's business. So 500.00 for a brick grip or 200 for something that melts into your hand. Easy choice!

I agree totally and i personally think the G2c is a better carry and way fricken more comfortable than the Glock 26. I hate the Glock 26 it is way too bulky and hard to hold on to, i passed a 26 up because it sucks to handle!! If you have a choice take the G2c you will be way happier!! And Glocks do malfunction i dont give a rats ass what anyone says, i have ran Glocks since their inception and i have had more than one mis-feed and failier to eject so quit lying to these people!!

To each their own. I personally run a g26, ive run thousands upon thousands of rounds, not 1 malfunction except for a particular pmag with steel case ammo. I carry with a g19 mag and a spare 17 rnd, which magazine compatability and reliability with glock is second to none. Theres no way a g2 will have better reliability than a glock, what ever the malfunction rate is im sure the g2 is several times higher, and will definatly have a parts breakage before a glock will. Im not a fanboy but these guns are tried and true and have a track record thats hard to beat. That said, i recently shot a g2c and i like it, im going to be getting a g2c for my wife, i hope i get a good one.

I have a Glock 26, and a 29. The 26 has had a few extraction malfunctions, and a few failures to return to battery. My 29 never had any issues when I had it chambered in 10mm. Now I've got it converted to 9x25 Dillon because I also have an EAA Witness and Rock Ultra HSC 1911, both in 10mm. The Glocks are too chunky, and not very comfortable.
My Taurus G2C has been flawless, and is much more comfortable in the hand.

My PT111G2 was great at first, but after a few years it had a problem with intermittent "weak primer strikes," meaning the striker wasn't hitting the primer hard enough to fire the bullet. I put in a new striker spring set AND a new metal striker tube to replace the standard plastic one. (I bought these from "LakelineLLC.") I also stopped leaving my weapon in the cocked position to prevent the striker spring from getting weak. Since I made these changes, the reliability returned to 100%.

I have both guns, and wanted to see what someone else's take on them are. 1st, the Taurus IS heavier than the Glock. Maybe not much, but it is. The Taurus is actually more comfortable in the hand than the 26, and I attribute that to the smaller grip and lack of finger grooves. The PT111 is almost G43-ish. The trigger does take some getting used to on the PT111, and my only wish would be that they would clean up that 2stage action. But without cleaning up the 26's trigger, it can be gritty feeling until broken in. And of course Glock can be redone from top to bottom with the wide variety of Lego add-ons.
But this is a really good side by side comparison, and I truly believe that the PT111, G2, G2C, and even the G2S are all great alternatives to the glock. But considering the fact that the Taurus copied 99% of the style and function, it stands to reason.

My PT-111 is my EDC, and my Taurus model 66, 7 shot, .357 is my woods carry gun. I love Taurus. I don't care what anyone says... Oh, and my dad has had some problems, with his Glock 19. Jus sayin....

I've watched your videos, and saw the first G2 vid a couple months ago. You earned my Sub back then with your sense of humor and logic, but my dumbass forgot to sub. :D
I agree with others, not a silly comparison-Converted Glock Guy here. The G2 is a solid little firearm. 1,525 rounds current, 0 failures of any kind. Rear sight screw did walk loose a bit, but I caught it before sight fell off, as it has for some people. I removed screw on rear sight, tiny bit of blue thread lock, and clocked the flathead screw position at 11 o'clock. Hasn't budged since, and Probably 750 of those rounds since that fix. Argument many against Taurus will make: You shouldn't have to deal with that sight issue. Whatever. It's a known issue on some guns, and it is easily fixed if you can do any basic smithing.
You've RE-EARNED your sub now with this one :D Keep on going KB32

First of all,,leave out the pinkie extenstion.I've never had any problem with the G2 PT111.I also like the factory sights and ergos better on the Taurus..The Taurus has second strike capability. Also as far as Matthews NC goes,I met Rick Flair in person complaining about gas prices at a Subway restaurant next to highway 74. I've had the 26, the G2 and an M&P 9C.used all three as an EDC...still have 2..the G2 and the 9C..for me the G2 wins hands down mainly cuz of capacity and size and comfort while carrying appendix. I have well over 1500 rnds thru it thus far with no issues when I actually expected to have some solely because of the name. The 9C ?? It's an M&P.. need I say more? You can keep the glock.. I hated it..not saying they aren't reliable as all get out..it just wasn't the gun for me. I'm glad you compared these two guns. Like it or not the G2 is a viable EDC and last but not least..EVERY gun brand will fail ..even the almighty glock.

I’ve had my PT111 G-2 for almost 4 years. It has preformed perfectly. I paid top dollar for it ($270.00 OTD). Then the price dropped into the sub $200.00 category, do I feel I got ripped off? NO, mine has the lifetime warranty that they no longer offer. I also bought an Xtra 12 round factory magazine, then I started to hear about all the other high capacity mags that will work with it!!! Am I Upset about that? Not really, now I can take advantage of that too! In life you just need to stop and smell the roses!!

Got the PT111 G2. Only fired 400 rounds through it but not one misfire or any other issue. For $200 I could buy a second and a great spare without a lot of cost. Fired aluminum and brass without issues. Might be more critical after a 1000 rounds, but far it’s accurate and fun to shoot. Not ready to make it my edc, but time will tell. Great comparison. Thanks!

One advantage the Taurus has is that it’s fairly simple to convert m9 mags to work with a file and a sharpie marker. (Look it up if you don’t believe ) so you have access to a huge supply of mags if your willing to put the work in . But 200 bucks vs 500-600 depending on the dealer , for the same price of that Glock you can buy 2-3 of the Taurus. It doesn’t have to be pretty it just has to work

I think what people need to look at with these two guns... IF you leave the Glock in stock format, it's shorter and better for CCW, when you add that extension, you may as well use a G19 as the grip lengths are nearly the same and you get 3 more rounds. The Taurus, it's awful slim for a 12 round capacity. It's grip is longer which doesnt make it as easy to conceal but by no means is it difficult as it's not as thick.
The Taurus does take Sig P226 magazines and can use any extended magazine as such. The Taurus has it's perks in the size/weight department and comes with a lot for the price. Frankly though I do know the Taurus has a lot of reported problems after a certain round count, nobody seems to be able to agree on what that number is however. I've got one that's had about 800 through it and is still going just fine. However I've heard of triggers breaking and other parts. And to my understand it is an easy and cheap fix, but I just think we could all agree you shouldnt have to do that.
Frankly though, if I'm going to carry a Glock that size though, I'd run the G39 with a +2 extension or a G30SF. Either would be good at the same size as that G26 to me. Still, people need to wake up and realize the Taurus is not as bad of an option as people may think. Several of these companies that are known to be cheap are really stepping up their game and making quality stuff now.

I own both the 26 and pt111 g2. For a budget gun, you can't beat the pt111 g2. The one thing I did replace was the guide rod. After 300 rounds, the front spring jumped, locking up the pistol. But since replacing it, I have put over 2000 rounds through it with no issues. My 26 has almost 3000 rounds through it, and I have had absolutely no issues at all. All brands of ammo with no FTF or FTE. If you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with the Taurus. Great video BTW.

I much prefer the G2C over the Glock. What I like better about the G2c are the loaded round indicator, thumb safety, 2nd strike capability and superior grip angle. I view it as a slightly thicker version of my daily carry Shield at a give away price. By the way, Sig P226 Mec Gar 15 and 18 round mag fitted with grip sleeves work great in it.

The rubber grip looks just like the Hogue rubber grip I put on my Glock 43. I like the grip because I have big wide hands and shorter fat fingers so it gives me a better grip. I ordered 3-ETS Extended capacity magazines but the had many problems so sent them back and ordered 2 +2Vickers Tactical extensions giving both Glock 43 magazines an 8rd capacity with an extended grip and function awesome with no problem jamming, feeding, ejecting, or slide not locking after last round ejection like the 9&12rd ETS Magazines. I’m getting the Taurus G2 soon! I’ve felt the the Glock26 and the Taurus side by side and the grip and everything about the Taurus blows the Glock away! I love the single and double action trigger of the Taurus and you don’t have to keep racking the slide for dry firing practice. I love my Glock-19 and Glock 43, but for the money and quality and features the Taurus to me wins hands down! There’s a UA-cam video channel showing the Taurus G2 shooting it’s 4,000th+ round without a single hiccup or failure and compared it with a Sig 365 X-ray and the Sig’s firing pin had broken and had other issues and had to send it back for warranty repairs. I’ve never owned a Taurus and thought they were cheap and poorly made but after watching videos on the Taurus G2 and the whole ergonomics, grip, quality, size, and capacity and $170 price tag it’s a no brainer for me. Also ordered a Canik TPSfx that comes loaded with 2-20rd mags, a Vortex Venom 6moa red dot and 4plates for different reflex sights and one for iron sights, different size mag release buttons and backstraps as well as different color fiber optic front sight inserts an adjustable locking holster, 5.2 inch match grade barrel and awesome crisp trigger with minimal take up and nice short crisp audible trigger reset for $643 from Buds Gunshop. I’ve ordered many different firearms from Buds and their prices are hard to beat and never had a problem with FFL Transfers or firearms not being in great condition, even the used Police Trade-ins: S&W M&P 1.0 versions 40S&W with 3-15rd mags and Trijicon Nightsights and Older M&P 45ACP with 3-10rd stainless steel mags and Trijicon Nightsights, both awesome shooters. Also the Canik TP-10 gives the Glock 19 a run for it’s money with better ergonomics and trigger for less money with more features! Buds is my go to place for All my Firearms and they have a community chat where you can ask or answer Questions about different Products. You can even win points for answering questions and the points can be used for different Buds Giveaways and it’s easy to set up a Buds Account or become a Team Buds Member for a $40 yearly fee and get better discounts or layaway options and first dibs on products that come in from being on Backorder! Buds is Awesome! Also Bulkammo.com or Ammo.com are great places to get awesome deals on most ammo brands and calibers from pistols to rifle and target Fmj to Defense Carry ammo in different offerings. Ok I’m done!

Whew - comparing a Taurus favorably to a Glock? You must want people to hate you. But, I like the PT111 G2, and bought one for my son-in-law based on your earlier reviews. Like most of what Taurus makes, it is a decent, definitely affordable gun. It doesn't mean there aren't people with problems with them, but Taurus sells a heck of a lot of these, and as you mentioned, percentage wise it is probably no more than any other gun massed produced. Anyway, loved your camera work on this one, and you have a Merry Christmas.

If I needed a pistol of that size, didn't have the money, discipline to save money, or option to buy used, I'd probably buy that Taurus, but I have bought three different, new, Taurus handguns and eventually got rid of all of them. One of them had the same exact, fragile, rear sight as the G2 PT111 in the vid, and the rear sight blade came to me chipped, new in box. At the time, there were no aftermarket replacement sights for the Taurus. I don't know if things have changed since then. That same pistol went back to Taurus for having a poorly milled, and out of spec, slide that needed the sight adjusted way to one side, overhanging the dovetail. After 4-5 months at Taurus USA, they sent me a new one, at which time I turned around and sold it. Just last year one could buy a new S&W Shield for $225 with the $75 rebate. The First Generation Shields are still available for $300, give or take. Whoever is thinking about that Taurus, do yourself a big favor, save another $100, and buy a Shield. Take it from me, someone who owns handguns from Brownings to Walthers (A-Z, get it?). Thanks for the vid!

The 150 HSTs 7-10 inch (totally UNacceptable) Amazingly enough the cheap 115 grain aluminum FMJ Federals also gives 3 inch patterns. Cant say same about my Glock 19. For the money the G2 is more BANG for less BUCKS.....
My G2 works great after 400 rds no hick ups......
    N.O.W.
    (knock on wood)
    And I've seen smoother triggers....
But WTH it's not a 50 yard target gun, it's a 25 yard save my ass gun.... And the trigger is just fine for that....
And if you need a gun you will usually not have time to save up for it.....
I mean, your attacker won't decide to let you go now to come back after you can finish paying off that Glock now will he?
A G2 in hand will serve you better than a Glock on lay-a-way.

Can't find much fault with the g2 , trigger is weird though , but once you're used to it. G2 is a winner! Buy this gun immediately !
