- Taking a look at the 9mm PT 111 from Taurus. Sorry about the crappy camera that couldn't keep it's focus. I won't use that one again.

The Taurus Millennium G2 is rated for 9mm +P. Page 22 in the owners manual. Under section Warning for +P. It states "Only use SAAMI rated +P".
You're correct. I read that page and thought it excluded the PT 111 but I see on that last line where it includes 9mm. Thanks for the correction. I also noticed the following paragraph states that +P pressures "may exceed the margin of safety built into many firearms. Unless you need +P ammunition, do not use it"-- I know that owners manuals tend to word stuff on the side of safety and lawsuit protections but that doesn't sound very reassuring to me.
do not use +P ammo ,never!!! in this gun
Sandy Mitchell I agree +p is not good for this gun. +p creates too much recoil for these mouse guns.
Sandy Mitchell hi, what is +P?
Al Heem
It's a bullet that has been loaded with extra powder, which produces an increase in velocity of the projectile, and subsequently an increase in kinetic energy. Basically a harder hitting/better penetrating bullet.
However, you are technically adding more 'explosive' to a bullet, and sometimes that may cause unsafe conditions for your gun, which in part, may harm you. Most firearms that come out of a factory, will let you know whether or not they are safe to use with this more powerful type of cartridge. Generally speaking, you only want to shoot +P ammo enough to ensure that your firearm works reliably with whatever self-defense +P ammo you decide to use. It puts unnecessary strain on your firearm, and it's also very expensive ammunition. So it isn't very practical to shoot lots of it at a shooting range.
I have over 3000 rds through mine.ZERO failures! Great dependable hand gun.
I bought one of these new on a whim a year ago for less than $200.00 OTD. I figured for the price why not give it a try. I must admit I am somewhat of a gun snob and I had my doubts. I never thought I would own a Taurus, I mean - what would my friends think? I put about 1000 rounds of different ammo through it, cheap stuff, expensive stuff, hollow points, everything I could find. It ate it up in 4 different trips to the range. Not one single miss fire or malfunction. This gun runs... I only cleaned it one time when I brought it home! I let some of my fellow gun snob friends shoot it, 3 out of 5 of them now also own one. Besides the long trigger pull that I am now used to, I cant knock it. I would grab this gun in a pinch and trust it without a doubt!! Truth be told, it is in my night stand right now. Try this gun and you will see it is a solid performer.
good morning i'm looking for a nice Taurus and i shot the pt111 millennium g2 and it was nice but they have these other guns and i want your opinion on these guns
1 Taurus pt111 millennium
2. Taurus th9c compact
3. Taurus g2c
which ones of these should i buy
I really appreciate how honest, straight forward and thorough you were with your presentation. I also like that you brought up and tried to recreate the one slight issue you had just to make sure we are aware as consumers. Your description was very detailed and you showed each feature and handled the gun in an unbiased way
WOW. Thank you so much for taking a minute to leave this comment. You honestly just made my day. So many people leave comments picking apart this or that but you get the big picture. I am here to try to help people. Have a great day and again thank you.
This guy is a wonder. He's more honest and well informed than many. I really like his work. Real good technique. Watch his grip. It doesn't move at all. This is a small 9mm and he has a really good grip. I love mine.
Thank you for that.
I can honestly say I was a Taurus basher for years. I've just had to many problems with them in the past. That being said, I bought my G2 about a year ago I think.. and I absolutely love it. I don't typically count rounds but I know I've put around 1500 or so through it WITHOUT one single fail ...at all !! I've got a few big money guns that I cannot make that statement about (not that a gun won't fail cuz they all will at some point I think). I have tried to not like this gun but it just keeps going bang every time. Much to my surprise it has become my main EDC ,,(my sig isn't happy now). ..I prefer a manual safety as I grew up with a manual safety and it is just natural for me to hit it without thought. I bought this gun because of the price and the reviews it was getting. The only bad reviews I saw were about the factory guide rod and spring failing, so I went ahead and installed a Lakeline LLC steel rod for 39 bux. I didn't need to change it so I keep the factory one as a backup. But, in my opinion it works a lot better now. If you are someone looking for a reliable gun in a decent caliber in a small package, not to mention the12+1 capacity, then I cannot recommend this gun enough to you. Like I said in the beginning, I have tried to not like this pistol but it just won't let me. Sorry for the long comment. I just wanted to give an honest opinion of a great little gun that I did not want to like !! Thanks !!
Thanks for leaving this well written comment about your experiences and opinions of this pistol. Others will find this helpful I am sure.
dbel723333 Your Honesty is Greatly Appreciated well said 👍
Thank you :)
If you go back and read it again you'll see that I said that every gun will fail at some point and I didn't exclude this one.... and to this point still at about 1500 I HAVE NOT had a jam at all. Unless you are shooting this gun with me please don't speak of what you don't know. I have no doubt that at some point it will as they all do... be it the guns fault, ammo or the operators fault Just hasn't yet..and that was my point :)
dbel723333 - See I love it honesty! Others will never say its good even without tryin it just because the name. Taurus USA is changing for the best. They are going to come out with some great things.
I have had nothing but positive results from my of-1111th g2 I had two ft in the first mag I ever shot through it but over 800 rounds since and it's been great 👍 I changed out the factory guide rod for a Galloway stainless version and it shoots like a much more expensive gun the trigger is not bad once you get used to it.I definitely trust my families lives with this gun it's been proven reliable .for defense rounds I use hornady critical defense and very happy with it!
I just bought one of these a few days ago. It's a great little firearm. I wasn't going to pay 2 to 3 times as much for something that won't do anything any different. The bullets don't care what barrel they come from and a firearm is only as good as the person using it.
Spot on
I bought one of these last year for $180 with free shipping, put about 800 rounds through it with no FTE/FTF issues. The trigger did take some getting used to for me after shooting mostly Glocks, Sigs, M & Ps, and 1911s. It's a great little gun for the money and I'm thinking about getting another one. Great job on this instructional video, guys- kudos!
Thanks for leaving the comment!
Just bought one today as well as being a first gun owner. Going to take my test for my gun permit next week. Can’t wait to pick up my pt111 on Wednesday! Great video. 👍🏽
I've been watching a lot of videos on the Taurus G2C (I know yours are the previous model) and I've decided to buy one soon, but I just want to compliment you on a very well made, informative, but simple and to the point video on your guns. Like I said, I've seen quite a few Taurus G2 videos by now and yours stands out as one of the best.
I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you for taking a minute to leave the comment. Much appreciated.
This a perfect example of more isn't always better,I would prefer this over a keltec,hi-point,even a glock, you could buy 2 for the price of a USED glock
You've seen me it is a good gun and I am not a Glock fanboy but if I had a choice of a Glock 26 or a Tauras pt111, I would take the Glock 26. You get what you pay for. I carry my PT111 everyday because I cannot afford a Glock 26. By the way I do not own any Glocks.
Brian Smith go to gun range that has rentals glocks are nothing special it feels okay and it functions properly I just rather buy something cheaper that does the same thing and with the gun market as big as ever company's are constantly making guns more affordable and reliable than ever before
You've seen me I agree totally 👍
The longevity is where the price point comes into play. I've tested/owned both the PT111 G2 & Glocks (among other brands). The PT111 started to break parts at around 5,000 rnds (recoil spring, trigger spring, slide lock lever itself). The Glock and others (S&W, Canik, etc) all have 10,000+ rounds and still going strong. Sort of like cars of different price ranges..... most of them will drive/ride nice and get the job done when they're new, but usually the cheaper ones will start to break down sooner than the more expensive.
I have owned both and to be honest Glock has become just a name, it is good reliable and an awesome gun, but so is the NEW Taurus PT111 G2.
People keep saying that on the long run the Glock is a better buy, but funny story is that most of them have never owned a Taurus. not sure what a long run is, but after over 1,500 and a year, I haven't experienced a FTF or a FTE . I daily carry mine and if it keeps performing as it has been, my Glock will be up for sale
You're the only guy on you tube who never forgets to mention how far a target is ! And that my friend is well appreciated !! Also, once again, DAMN GOOD SHOOTING. 40 yards with a small 9mm; GREAT!!!!
I think these are some of the best budget pistols ever put out by Taurus. Great video by the way!
Just got one last month and I'm loving it!! A very good and realiable gun, taurus did a very good work this time.
cheers from Brazil
Cheers!
My wife and I both have carried these for over a year. We both enjoy shooting them at the range.
.
Thanks for making the video. I recommend these pistols to my students who are on a tight budget. So I seriously tried to destroy a couple. They held up really well. No failures on the first, cleaned every 300 rounds. Finally got a stovepipe on the second pistol after 1100 rounds without cleaning, and it went back to running perfectly after I cleaned it.
Just got this gun for Christmas. My first gun. I’m 27 a bit behind the curve lol but thanks for the vid
$179.99 for a pt111 g2 is an awesome deal. These are much better guns than Hi points for sure. This gun may possibly be the best gun for the money for anything regularly priced around $200 or under.
I think it would be in the running no doubt about it.
PROTECTIVE RAILROAD DAD I'm picking one up tomorrow
PROTECTIVE RAILROAD DAD $179.99 WHERE?
MrJohnnyDistortion gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/Taurus%2Bpt111?mobile=true
Cabelas has them on sale for $200 right now, if you happen to have a store nearby.
I've had one since 2015. Bought it for $200 out the door. Has been 100% with every kind of ammo I have tried. It is not my EDC, but I do carry it sometimes and it is in my nightstand always. I also own a S&W Shield, Beretta Nano and Kahr CM9 and this is easily as good as any of those and much cheaper! Great gun! And the price is unbeatable!
I agree Gary. I think some people dismiss them because they are priced right. If Taurus priced these at $400 they'd probably sell more. Don't tell them that though! LOL
Cheap doesnt mean bad if its well made
These are a bargain at today's prices.
That would mean it's less expensive, not cheap.
Had mine for 3 years now, lost count on how many rounds ive put through it. Had 1 ftf and 1 fte and those were in the first 50 rounds when i first purchased. Ive never had a single issue with it. I love my mine and would recommend it to anyone.
This is an awesome handgun. Taurus prices will be going up or other brands coming down.
I own both the Pt111 and Pt140...Both are excellent firearms...and i would put them up against mostly anything as a carry weapon....People bash the trigger and i find it to be fine...reset is very good in fact...P.S. Buffalo i really enjoy your videos..you are an excellent reviewer....Thanks!
I love my PT111, I also bought the 709 slim and have had no issues with either gun.
Love mine. It is my carry weapon. Easy to break down and super easy to maintain and clean. Not had the first problem with it. The only gripe I have is the trigger pull like he mentioned in the video. Other than that, it is a very good weapon in my opinion.
Thank you for break down and personal comments. Just a quick comment about the Taurus pt111 g.2. At a cost effective Stand point& features. This smaller framed 9mm to me is not only a great hand gun but, after 1,500 break in rounds. I found this concealed weapon is a good choice. It did jam up, 3-4 times, out of 1,500 (misfire.) I believe, it is the ONE ammo clip& types of ammo, used. Just my opinion. It shoots pretty accurate and can put lead down range quickly.
Hit& run. Beware of the long spongy fire strike but,. Not to bad either. What I like about this smaller also, slide rail for Lazer& fits my holster perfect. The textured grip fits really good. I like the fire finger rest. I myself don't care for the safety lock upper left side of frame. Overall,. I enjoy shooting this handgun.
And for around $200.00- $250.00 it's a steal.& Good features .
Great job introducing us to the PT111.
You hit it right on the head. Ergonomics are fine, very reliable and accurate. Just good guns. They're a great budget 9 choice. If you don't want a striker, the 809 is a good gun too. Good review, and that was some pretty decent shooting too.
Thanks. I had read a lot of negative reviews but I had not one but two samples and both performed beyond what I expected.
I was having a problem disassembling mine and watched this video. I had it apart as I watched. Thank you for being so informative. I'm a proud subscriber.
I was thinking those little things has a 7 rd capacity just by looking at them. Not bad at all for the price!
That's the conclusion I came to. A lot of the written reviews I've read on these were really negative. At the end of the day I can only speak of my experiences not what someone else may have had and that's what I try to relate in my videos.
TAOFLEDERMAUS Jeff there great little guns, I bought my wife one and we've shot it alot and not one malfunction, smooth as butter!!
nope 13
TAOFLEDERMAUS not bad ? It is great for the price.
It's a GREAT gun!!! Not just "for the price". lol. I prefer to carry this gun over ANY gun I own or my friends own. Perfect size, great capacity, and as dependable as it gets. Period!
Love my PT111! I've put just under 1000 rounds through it, with multiple brands and reloads from a few different people. No issues. I'd put it up against a gun in its catagory for twice the cost.
I bought a used G2 last year. It jammed on me quite often. I might have got one that was made on Monday or Friday, lol. After watching a video featuring a Lakeline LLC stainless steel guide rod, I ordered one and put in my my G2. After doing so, it took care of my jamming problem and boosted my confidence in the pistol enough that I now carry it quite often. With 12+1 124 gr HST's in the pistol and a spare magazine in my pocket, I certainly feel well armed. I know several people that own one of these weapons and none of them have complained about having any problems, so for the most part, they seem to be reliable.
I have a g2c, g3, g3c all shoot well. Each 750 rounds each no jams, stove pipes or other issues. A winner for the money. Good show.
I love this little pistol! Installed a stainless steel guide rod and spring (~$35.00) cuz I figured the plastic set up would eventually tap out on me. Buffalo, you have some MAD shooting skills!
Thanks!
Great video on a good gun! I had a G2, but it got stolen. Now I have a G3 and I love it!
Keep cranking out the video's, really enjoy them.
Update: picked up my new G2C and a used 709 slim. I indeed got both slides off in 1st attempt after watching you describe what the manual left out. Much obliged.
Still loving both my 9mm and 380 Taurus pistols. Nice little range you have Buffalo!
Thanks!
Nice, honest review. As for the long trigger pull, companies do this on carry guns to help prevent accidental firing of the weapon. You have to want to pull the trigger to fire it. Some companies use a long pull like this, and others just use a heavy pull.
I've had my G2 for about a year now. I can say that I was Taurus basher for years. Just had to many issues in the past with them. That being said, I bought this gun because of the reviews it was getting and the price. I have nothing but good to say about it and I absolutely love it. I have tried to not like this gun but it just keeps going bang every time. I don't count rounds but I know I've put about 1500 or so thru it without one single fail...AT ALL.. I have some big money guns that I can't make that statement about. I do prefer a manual safety as I grew up with a manual safety and it's just natural for me to automatically hit it without thought. The only change I made to this gun was a Lakeline LLC steel guide rod and spring. That seemed to be the only issue anyone was having so I just went ahead and changed it out (39 bux). Not that I needed to. Surprisingly to myself it has become my main EDC..(my sig isn't happy now). I think it's a solid reliable gun for anyone looking for a decent caliber in a small package not to mention the capacity it holds. Sorry for the long comment just wanted to give a good opinion of a gun that I did not want to like ..but ended up loving :)..Thanks !!.
Purchased the Taurus G2C today at the Academy. I own the 709 Slim and have no issues. Can't wait to get it to the range 😀
The longevity is where the price point comes into play. I've tested/owned the PT111 G2 & many other brands. The PT111 started to break parts at around 5,000 rnds (recoil spring, trigger spring, slide lock lever itself). The others (Glocks, S&W, Canik, etc) all have 10,000+ rounds and still going strong. Sort of like cars of different price ranges..... most of them will drive/ride nice and get the job done when they're new, but usually the cheaper ones will start to break down sooner than the more expensive.
Owned my PT-111 G2 since 2015, put more than 4,000 rounds through it. One (1) fail-to-fire with WWB FMJ. Other 3,998 rounds fired normally. Best EDC out there.
The triggers really improve with use. I think this and the PT709 are ideal knock-about handguns. For that purpose, a manual safety is probably a real plus...Subbed. Gotta get you to that 20K mark.
Thanks, I'm glad you decided to stick around. I'm almost there!
350 rounds of mixed ammo and reloads, no malfunctions at all. My finger does hurt after 3 or 4 - 15 round mags. I use the Sig P226 mags. Even the crappy pro mags work in this gun.
Awesome!
I bought 2 of these about 3 years ago, one for me, one for Wife, with stainless slide. Hers sits in gun safe. Mine, I carry everyday and have not had one issue with it at the range. Paid $229 for each one. Just got through putting a set of fiber optic sights on mine just yesterday. Made huge difference for me lining up sights. With old sites, accuracy at the range was very good but compared to my Sig Saur P320, not as tight a group but then again, cost of the Sig was very much more. As far as concealed carry, I prefer the Taurus over my Sig as it is much lighter in weight, easier to conceal, still very accurate at the 7m mark I practice at. Very good gun, good buy, and mine very dependable.
Appreciate the unbiased review. I know a lot of people might turn their nose at this pistol, but it has really grabbed my interest. Someone breaks into my truck I'm not out much and it seems to be very reliable.
You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think this pistol would be very hard to beat at 200 bucks or under.
Love my G2! I put the LakeLine stainless steel guide rod in mine. It's worth the $23 upgrade. Accuracy is on par and putting some traction grips on it makes it feel even better. Also use it as my daily carry pistol! I've put around 800 rounds in it and it has fed extremely well!
Nice little upgrade you did there. Thanks for tuning in!
Yes, always check your gun! I have grabbed a gun I was 100% sure was empty and I pull the slide to check it like I was taught and a round flies out surprising the hell out of me. Gun ferries
David Daniels you call them gun fairys lol at my house it the gun gremlin
Nice looking carry gun. I just happen to be in the manual safety is a deal breaker group. Otherwise they look very interesting. Very good camera work. You have become a pro at this. Thanks for the video!
I understand completely. Man I try to learn a little bit each time I produce a video and apply it to the next. In this one I learned to never trust the auto focus of the D3200!
Anthony Martin just curious. If you don't like a manual safety why not just keep it off? Fairly new to shooting so again... Just curious
In my humble opinion if it can happen it will. One day you will acidently engage the safety and you won't be trained to disengage it. Seconds may count. The best safety is a good simple holster and a trained person shooting it. Thanks for the reply!
I will clean my mags inside and get a device to help press the follower to make loading easier. VERY well done and thorough review
Thanks!
I have been carrying the PT111 G2 for the past 10 months. My Taurus has over 1000 rounds through it and I love the gun. I view that long trigger pull as an extra safety feature. It breaks so far back that it is almost impossible to fire the gun by accident. I bought mine long before all the prices dropped, but I still view it as an excellent value at the almost $300 that I paid for my gun. I would buy it again, and now with the much lower prices I would pick up two of them if I had the cash.
I am hearing from more folks just like you who have had good experiences with this firearm. I am glad I tried it out for myself. This pistol has a lot of features for your dollar.
I've had one for over a year and really like it. I paid $209 and it's been 100% reliable with about 500 rounds fired and very accurate for a small gun. For some reason my mags load very easy with 12 rounds! I actually think the trigger is pretty good! Hard to argue with results!! Nice video!
Your videos are well put together and informative. Well spoken, clear and easy to watch
Thank you. I appreciate you taking a minute to leave the comment.
I appreciate you showing the takedown! I had one of these and couldn't get the slide off for squat! (I'm an old revolver guy with no semi auto experience). Didn't shoot it much and ended up selling it anyway. I just bought a new G2C and now know how to do it properly. Thx.
You're welcome!
Hey, brother...I've had my Millenium G2 since early this year, and I really like it. I carry it every day and hit the range with it every other week or so. I've had no problems at all.
Thanks for the video.
Great feedback! Thanks for leaving it. I enjoy hearing from other folks who have experience with this pistol or any other that I do videos on for that matter.
Taurus has a new person at the helm of Taurus. He has been with Colt,I think most of the other major gun makers in this country. And plus he put a lot of people there on notice to get there at together.
Good to know!
Thanks for the video! Been a Taurus owner since 2001...first was a first gen PT-111 9mm...now the G2 PT-111. IMO...it's an awesome gun. No need to spend hundreds more for a bigger/better name brand. Rock on Taurus!
Sold my g2 to a friend because I wanted a 9mm I could pocket carry which ended up being an m and p shield. But I have nothing bad to say about the Taurus. Best value 9mm out there imo. I would have not sold it to a friend if I didn't think it was a reliable gun. Never gave me a lick of trouble.
For your intro alone and your comment about video games you earned a sub. Lol
Great review on the 9mm, i was looking at buying this and might be getting it sometime soon.
Thanks Buffalo
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I had a G2 PT111 and a G2 PT140. Both failed to feed reliably out of the box and the PT111 also failed to fire reliably (multiple malfunctions per magazine for each gun). I had to pay shipping back to Taurus but they sent the PT140 back with some feed ramp work having been done that has been all it ever needed. The PT111 came back with an entire new slide assembly and ran like a top. So yeah, I wasn't happy at first but they took good care of me. ...but that said, it made me question why I ever strayed from Glock.
What a gooooood video, my friend! Honest and direct! I´ll folow your reviews! Thanks! This pistol is not so bad too! perfect for your price and use!!!
Thanks! Glad to have you here at the Buffalo's Outdoors channel!
I've had one. They are great. Priced very reasonably. Good shooter. The only reason I sold it was I had other firearms I'd rather carry . And I would get another if Taurus would have a better warranty. Limited lifetime warranty isn't all that. Thanks.
When I was researching this gun I couldn't find 1 bad video review. After a year of flawless ownership I started to hear of trouble with the recoil springs however it a simple fix with the recoil springs by Lakeline LLC. My recoil spring hasn't needed replacing but I may still buy the Lakeline unit. I like that it has a stainless steel guide rod. Some people say this gun is double/single action, well it really not. It's single action with second strike capability. I have no trouble with the trigger, it's reset is very short and I love shooting it off that short reset!!! It does break really far back but I have gotten very use to it. I'm a very happy PT 111 G2 owner!! Of course I bought mine before the price came way down into the weeds. I paid about $ 275.00 out the door including tax and all. I also bought a thrid 12 round magazine from the factory and then I found out about its ability to use other high capacity magazines from other manufacturers. I really missed the great deals on this gun, but I don't feel to bad about it. I still got a good price on a gun that has preformed as well as some of its polymer competitors at half the price!! I also own some beautiful Colts so I'm not just a budget buyer. My 1911 Colt with the custom trigger is a real honey!!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience with this little pistol. Seems like most have had a positive experience. A nice 1911 trigger is the gold standard.
thanks for the review,it was exellent, My son bought one and i liked it so much i bought one for myself,$212 shipped!! exellent gun for the price. you get more quality then you would expect for the price.
I agree!
That will be my first choice Tauras PT 111 G2 very reliable. Price Quality and safety. My opinion. Thanks for your Demonstration. 👍
You're welcome!
Best value on the market! Good gun to add to your collection, new sights and a upgraded guide rod and spring , this firearm will do the job!
Nice priced pistol seems worth buying.
Thanks for the vid.
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
Good shooting. You sir a breath of fresh air in-so-far as content and presentation. I couldn't find one extraneous sentence or word. Nice machine too.
Thank you.
Excellent review,
To the point unbiased.
Good and bad shown and no bashing.
You should be a newscaster ....fair man.
Thank you for that comment!
I like your review. I only shoot Taurus pistols, I have a G2 9mm a pt145, and a 22. I stand behind every one of my pistols. I recommend taurus.
Thanks!
I love this gun, it was my first-hand gun.
I have the Taurus .40cal 24/7 Compact DA/SA and I like it a lot. I use to carry a Sign P226 and Glock 23 on duty and I don't mind this Taurus at all.
Good shooting! Excellent video! I carry this little puppy, and I love it. Paid $200.00 for mine, and after putting over a thousand rounds through it with no failures of any kind, I sold my G26. Best CCW for under $400.00 in the market today IMHO. But do invest in a Uplula to spare your thumb cause those magazine springs are strong.
Good point about the sore thumbs! Those last couple rounds can be a beast to get in there. Thank you!
Picked one of these up a few months ago. My first handgun. So as a novice I have no complaints save the one about the take down that you pointed out. When I first tried to take this gun down, I followed the manual and just about lost my mind trying to get the slide off. Not sure how but I eventually figured it out. But thanks for reiterating. I feel less stupid. I have a a few stove pipes, but like I said. I'm new to it and have only tried one ammo so far.
Awesome. I think this is a good first pistol. You will learn a lot from it. I was able to take the pistol down without pulling the trigger but it literally felt as though something might break, it was that tough.
Yooptown Zee My son and myself use Aguila 124 grains 9mm. A few extra minutes while cleaning but always go bang when we pulled the trigger and cheaper bullet. (PT111 G2 / PT 92 Beretta clone). Have a nice day.
Hey thanks for the rec!
Yooptown Zee Love ballistics, it is complicated and time consuming (some formulas are for enginners) so I started easy and look for the things that cover my needs. Listen, analize and research. Lots of keyboard warriors in you tube and at the range.
Thanks for for the great video. You helped sell me on this gun. While not a big fan of Taurus, had a 22mag.revolver that was so inaccurate had to sell. As a defensive gun for around the house for 200 bucks I can buy one for every room in house so one is always in reach.
I thank you a Ton for not purchasing a firearm I would've been upset with. I am a lefty, and did not consider the lack thereof a ambidextrous safety.
I love this firearm. I actually loved my original so much I picked up a 2nd. 👍👍
2 is better than 1!!
I have an old PT 111 I bought many years ago "my first carry gun" and put thousands of rounds through it & never had any problems. cant beat it for the price. guess I have to upgrade to the G2
yeah i know about it, something about the drop safety, but I wont trade it in cause it was my first. its still good for the range, as long as I dont drop it, lol
I have had my Taurus Millennium g2 for about 8 months now and first shot pmc 115 grain through it at the range plus my self defense ammo to make sure they operate correctly when I need them (hopefully don't.) Shot 250 fmj first day I bought it and have put many through it since. I now shoot federal ammunition through it and have had no issues. The only other ammo I have used is blazer. I put a couple magazines through with a failure to eject on every round. I'd say it has to be my g2 but I stay away from blazer ammunition because of it. Just wanted to share that.
I think most people get a sugar a hard time because they really want to find something wrong with the gun and mean it might not be the best trigger but this is a good gun
I had a G2 PT111,,great little gun.I had put close to 7,500 rounds through it and a neighbor asked if I'd take $250 for it so I sold it to him.I only paid $199 for it and he knew that.He liked the gun that much.I'm looking to get another one, this time with the matted stainless slide.
Wow that says a lot. A 200 dollar gun that you ran 7,500 rounds through and then sold for a profit! That's incredible.
I'll be the first to admit I got lucky on that deal.
approaching 20K subscribers. well done. quality content
Yeah I need to update my channel trailer. Right now I still have my 10,000 subscriber thanks video up. Looks like I will need to make a 20,000 thank you soon! Thanks!
This comment aged well!
Wife and I each had one. Really liked the feel in my hand. Both pistols failed so I got them fixed and traded them in on S&W M&P 9c. Same feel in the hand and more reliable. The internals is what makes the Taurus fail.
Thanks for leaving the comment. If you don't mind sharing what exactly in the internals failed and was it the same failure on both pistols?
Buffalo: Taurus uses a round wire recoil spring. That's like trying to balance a round ball on top of another ball. The end of the spring will jump the flange on the recoil rod. There are after market replacements. Additionally, when the polymer frame is formed, the temps of the mold can change the final size of the mag well, causing the magazine to drop from the pistol. I ended up getting an after market recoil spring and flattening the last wind of the wire on one and I inserted a shim in the mag well of the other. I then traded for S&W M&P 9c
awesome vid man, unbiased and informative. the quality is great too, (not crappy at all), and i really liked when you showed how you have to push on the trigger to take down for a field strip. i can tell you enjoy it and i would buy one. thank you!
Thanks!
Failure to go to battery is caused by the tip of the round catching on the split feed ramp. Mine had this issue when new. Caused a slight hesitation during feeding. There is a seem in the ramp between the barrel assembly and the lower. Polish it with a dremmel and some Flitz or Maas polish and it will be fine.
my local gun store is selling them for $225. Ive fed it steel, aluminum, brass, hollows and not a single problem. Got the sig p226 20 round mags with sleeve adapters from shapeways.com. gives it a nice factory look. You are a hell of a shot Buffalo.
Thank you!
Am with you in that there is no need for 9mm +p, if I need more power I have .40 or .45 to go to. Some ppl try and stretch the 9 into what’s not including the FBI. I heard that they’ve now settled on a +p load. Why abandon the .40 in the first place? Luckily my personal departments issue different caliber guns or even different size, depending on the task. Keep it up Buffalo great video as always.
Thanks for the vid. I was on the fence about picking up one of these up. The price seemed way too good to be true and it looked a little small too me but I’m definitely picking one up now.
These are THE best pistols Taurus has ever made. I own 2. I have yet to have any problems, to include FTF or FTE, from either so far.
I have the newer Taurus G2c and it is the same gun except it does not have the key lock which is good. As of now i have 2000 rounds and no malfunctions at all! I did carry a Springfield XDm 9mm with a 3.8 inch barrel and a Glock 43 for my secondary. I actually hated the Glock it had low capacity and kicked like a horse hard to control. The XDm is an awesome gun all the way around (except) heavy to carry all the time. This 12 round Taurus don't feel heavy at all, shoot straight low low recoil and is just as dependable as either of the others. As a matter of fact i had 2 malfunctions with my Glock 43 when i bought it new, so this Taurus already has the Glock beat for dependability as far as i am concerned!! My wife hated the Glock 43 and loved this G2c, it kicked way less and she said the grip was so good it did not want to jump out of her hand at all, she loves how light it is as well! I can say one thing i bet by the end of 2018 the reviews on this gun is going to push Taurus way up in the rankings at putting out excellent quality guns!! I forgot to add i carry this gun with no hesitation with 13 rounds and i have a 15 round back up mag, i feel safe carrying this gun and for home defense as well......This was a great video thanks soo much for posting!!
Awesome comment and thanks for tuning in!
good morning Mr Everett i want your honest opinion i want to know which of these 3 Taurus compact guns i should get?
1. Taurus g2c
2. Taurus th9c compact
3, Taurus pt111 millennium g2
which one of these should i get Mr. Everett
I got mine at Academy sports for $279, but it also came with a Heritage 22 revolver in the deal.
Taurus for some reason has a bad reputation now days. They're not too bad like you said in your video, for the money. I think the big thing is all the UA-cam "shooting experts" get to hating on them and people believe it all. Good vid. XD
I think they used to be a lot worse but have changed ownership and have really improved
Might also be the several videos of them breaking to pieces.
Dsdcain heard that the customer service is hard to get a hold too and when you do ship your item to them to be repaired it'll take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks before you get it back
Taurus is the butt of almost all the firearm communities jokes along side Hi-Point, despite the fact that the majority of them function just fine and run as well as guns that cost 4× the cost.
Taurus may have their bad rep from the timing issues they have from their revolvers. i do not trust a Taurus revolver. Try firing a Taurus revolver double action and have the timing lock the cylinder mid trigger pull.
Good shooting guy. We just got the G2 yesterday. Haven't fired it yet. Been soaking up the manual. I noticed the trigger pull missing in the manual. It all looks good. Frankly, easing into the first round is a long pull, but the reset is so short, you don't have to travel all the way foward, so, it's actually faster after the first shot. And thanks for saying bush hog n not brush hog. Haha. You're a oretty good shot at that distance with a 3.2" barrel. Hardest mag to load I ever saw. Ordered a speed loader. Nice review. Dan
Nice shooting. I have a G2 millenium for home, my son a PT92, my toy is a SIG 556R, his toy an AR15. As of the trigger all our guns have a diff feeling, just get used to it. Have a nice day, nice video.
Good point!
I have changed a few of my buddies minds about Taurus from having them shoot mine. I have never had any issues with my G2 or my 85 titanium ultralight
A pair of good budget minded pistols as thanks for the info as love the way you present....Good stuff...
Well, I'm a little late to the party...this vid is about 20 months old, but I just happened to catch it today. There are two things I want to comment on and I'll try to be brief. First...I'm ambidextrous but I prefer shooting left-handed (I think my left eye is dominant). I just wanted to say that as a left-handed shooter I have no problem flicking the manual safety with my left thumb. Of course us lefties have to live in a right-handed world so we learn to adapt. The other thing I would mention is that I had some problems with cycling when I was using 115 grain 9mm. This went on for about 150 rounds...probably an 8% fail rate. Then one day my range had a special on Fiocchi 124 grain JHP's. I bought a box of 50 rounds for about $16.00. Amazing result...all fifty went through the G2 without a glitch. So then I thought, what the hell...I'll try some of that 135 grain Hornady Critical defense stuff. (Now, that ain't cheep...like $1.35 a round where I live). But the Taurus ran even better. My shooting partner is a Chicago Cop...female cop, actually. She had this Hornady Critical Defense 'Light" stuff (reduced recoil) which was a 90 grain round. I could not cycle more than 2 of these rounds in a row. Her personal carry (a Sig) handled the 90 grain ammo flawlessly. So, I learned a lesson...my G2 has a heavy slide and cycling action and it needs 124-147 grain rounds to cycle effectively. Just passing this info on in case you are having some frustration with your G2 cycling ammo. Oh, and one more thing...there's not a damned thing wrong with the G2 trigger. Just practice until it becomes second nature to you.
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your experience! This is what I like most about UA-cam!
