      Have you had to do any internal mods to it? Just wondering because I recently purchased one and wanted advise from an experienced owner.

    Thanks for a very well done comparison. I am picking up my PT111 at Cabela's tomorrow ordered on line for $220 out the door. I checked it out at Academy and really liked the feel but Cabela's had an on line sale for $90 less so they get the business. Thanks again for a well reasoned and in focus presentation.

    great comparison, I just got the PT111 for $228 plus fees. I absolutely love it.. Only 300 rounds through it, not one malfunction. I like the trigger with the built safety features. Could not be happier. The high capacity mag and thin profile is definitely a huge plus. Thanks for putting out this video

      It is now early September I have been carrying it since late March, I haven't had any problems when I go to the range and it's a really good budget gun. Definitely not the best gun in the world but if you're on a budget this is a good gun for you.

      idk man this thing will run just like my glock. I think people just look at the names because this thing shoots as fast as I can pull with 0 jams. Taurus is my #2 brand behind smith & Wesson due to the cost and the performance.

    My family had he original Gen 1 PT111 and loved it. These are selling at my local place in Rock Hill, SC for $199.99 so I ordered 2. One for me and one for the wife. With the savings over a Glock or comparable firearm I can buy the practice ammo to train on the gun a bit. It's common sense.

      +Ralph Edwards I just got the Taurus pt111 g2 9mm and got the $50 rebate to go along with the pretty sweet $235 price. Will I carry it? Probably. Will I EVER trust it as much as my Glocks? Maybe not. I have heard the many great reviews on the Taurus. But there is always the caveat, "Taurus really got this one right." Okay, so they made this pistol right, but there is still that implication that Taurus still can't be fully trusted. I am optimistic that this will be a turning point for my relationship with Taurus, but I'll wait and see.

    I went out shooting today with my Taurus pt111 9mm and after I cycled that first round, it went into single action with a short trigger pull and the accuracy was tremendous. At 30 yards I shot a group of center of 8 rounds, the rest of the 12 were within the 2 circles. Hardly any recoil, just spot on accuracy. This gun is amazing.

    Just a just a few quick points I'd like to make in favor of the G2. It does come with two magazines but I don't think you mentioned how many actually come with the it.
    Also when you disassemble the slide on the Taurus, the amount of machining, buff and polish on the high friction points that has been performed on this gun are amazing for its sub $400 price. Seems like there was some craftsmanship put into it.
    Also it is pretty obvious from this video but you may not notice it until you grip it, the Taurus has a very aggressive grip to it and you know when you get your purchase on it, it will not slip out if your hands, even in slippery shooting conditions. I purchased my G2 back in February for $350 from a smaller hometown gun shop and I love it and it is my CCW. I've only put 100 rounds of FMJ ball ammo and it performed flawlessly, after adjusting the rear sight a bit.
    Great comparison/review and it was good to see how my CCW compares to a higher price point handgun!

  • @deere3321
    @deere3321 8 років тому +5

    The lifetime warranty on the Taurus is worth a lot to me. I'm fine with the trigger now. It took a little getting used to, but after a couple hundred rounds, it's fine. Also, I think the trigger pull improved after some shooting, cleaning and re-lubricating. I paid $230.00 for mine.

    • @paulbrooks9957

      Simple arithmetic. The savings on a less expensive gun gives you more for the Ammo. Glock has an aggressive sales routine, and it's like this is the only firearm that's good. However you have to see for yourself; Is it a Good fit?Taurus has made a great effort with their firearms. I also have a Taurus 669 357 with a 6 inch barrel and it's awesome from 20 years back.

    My Taurus G2 is a fantastic hand gun not only for the price, but for dependability and accuracy as well. I own a Glock 26, and the Taurus is as good or better. The smoothness in cycling is actually better than the 26 in my opinion. The overall feel of the grip is also better, and seems to be more ergonomically friendly than the Glock. Of course there are trade offs when it comes to a weapon that costs much lower. The sights are a bit better on the Glock, but i'd willingly sacrifice that small detail. 12:1 on the magazine and chamber for the Taurus as compared with 10:1 for the Glock. I'll take the Taurus G2 over the Glock 26 any day....

    • @steveanderson9038

    Thanks for the information. I'm thinking of going to a 9mm and doing my research. Just saw one video by a guy who owns the Taurus and he said he's fired hundreds and hundreds of rounds through it and never had a malfunction. I'll never fire that many rounds or do competitive shooting so I can't justify spending the extra on the Glock.

    I have the Taurus and I love it! 500+ rounds through it with no FTE's or FTF's. I have put several flavors of ammo through it, and it just eats it all up. The grip is spectacular and it just feels right in your hand. You can keep your Glock. I'll keep my Taurus and the extra $$!

  • @6548ww

    I like the handle on the G2 much better than the smaller Glock pistols you have a lot more to hold onto,i like the full size Glocks feel but not the small pocket pistols,this G2 is an awesome looking gun

    • @mig50cc
      @mig50cc 8 років тому +2

      Yup. So many "glock queers" (lol!) think that just because you have the smaller grip then that alone makes it the gun you should get for ccw. I have a feeling they'd also think that if glock made their grips so small you could only fit your middle finger around it with the bottom 2 fingers hanging off, they'd still drink the glock koolaid and say it's the greatest thing ever. Anyway the PT111's grip is amazing (coming from a CZ 75 lover) while the glock subcompact grip....no, just no.

    I've got about 2,000 rounds through my PT111 G2 and haven't had a single mishap yet. No FTF, FTE, etc. It's been 100% reliable at the range so I recently started carrying it as my EDC instead of my G43 as I like the larger capacity. The grip on the PT11 is definitely longer and more likely to print in certain holsters however but it's a worthwhile trade-off for the extra ammo IMO.

It is used as my daily carry gun and is very comfortable. I like the grip on the PT111 better than the 26 because i have a larger hand and I think it fits better for me. I absolutely love my G2 !
    I did immediately change out the recoil assembly to all stainless steel and it did make a huge difference. I also added a soft sleeve and it not only feels better to grip but it doesn't tear up my backside or clothes when I carry concealed, which is every damn day, everywhere I go no matter what !!
    I've put over 1000 rounds thru my G2 and I've had one small smoke stack jam. I also have a Taurus PT92 para in stainless and it's been 100% flawless. My brother has the Barretta FS92 and I've shot mine and his side by side and I can't tell ANY difference.
    The only thing I'm hopeful for is that Taurus comes out with an adjustable trigger for the G2 and maybe more light/laser/holster options without having to go custom.
    Price had zero to due with my purchase decision, I just liked the feel of the G2. I have several other handguns from Kimber to Sig and I like them all for different reasons but they have to feel good in my hand and the G2 does.

    About two years ago I had a hankering to get a G26, While I was there I looked at some ARs. For about 30 bucks more than the G26 I found a Ruger 556. It didn't take look to figure out which one gave me more bang for the buck, literately and figuratively. As long as everybody keeps worshiping Glocks the prices will never come down. At this point its a fashion statement to own a glock. I have to adment when I held that 26 in my hand it felt perfect and it made me feel like I could handle anything that popped it.

    Own both the PT111 G2 and PT140 G2. Got 600 rounds though both with no problems. Going to have to work on the PT140 slide. Barrel doesn't come out easily when I field strip it for cleaning. Well done revue, thanks. I purchased the gray slide PT111-G2 today for my budget gun after hearing so much positive fdbk.
    Did check the LCPII last week, light weight & slim frame but grip too short & slim for my hand. Wasn't even a contender.
    PT111 is much more comfortable, looks great, very good fit & finish for this price point. After disassembly, cleanup
    & inspection I'm even more pleased with this choice. Had some red automotive touch up paint on hand so the front sight
    is now a red dot. Just put a little on point of a toothpick and let 1 tinsy drop fill in over the white. :D
    Can't wait for trip to the range to see if this becomes my new carry, just don't tell my P238 I said that.
    ( let's see, 9mm x 12 vs 380 X 7....)
    Matter of fact, think I'd choose the PT111 over the Glock even if they were same price! Run Forrest Run!

    I paid 269 for my Pt 111 G2. Not the greatest compared to some of the other lower prices, but I'm happy with it. After around 300 rounds through it with no issues at the range using a variety of different ammo to see what works best, I found you can feed this thing anything, This convinced me it would be a good ccw. over 1000 rounds later and still no issues.

    Buddy bought the Taurus Millennium G2 and I was real skeptical about it's quality before we shot the hell out of it the last couple of weekends. Ammo Man--I got a Taurus Millenium today from Palmetto State for $199.99. However, I had to pay shipping and handling. So, looks like you got a better deal. Nonetheless, what you paid at Buds, well, that sweet deal is over. Buds now wants quite a bit more. So folks, I would say grab one, when you see a great deal, because dealers won't be selling these Tauruses at these prices for long. By the way, I also have a Glock 26, and that is a remarkable little handgun in its own right!

    I have had my Taurus for 2 months and I have already decided I want to go ahead and get a Glock 17. The Taurus will be good for light carry and travel but I want the nicer feeling, more substantial glock. I have shot some glocks, and the difference in quality is evident but not a deal breaker for the Taurus. I got it for $200, wasn't a bad deal at all, and I won't get rid of it.

    • @ILeftRules
      @ILeftRules 6 років тому

      Beau... good choice on the Taurus and the g17.
      I will suggest you also look at the g-19 as well. Very similar gun but a bit smaller...the 19 is much easier to conceal carry.
      You give up 2 rounds, 17 vs 15, but I had to ask myself, will I be in a situation where I cannot solve the problem with 15 rounds but CAN with 17?
      So what I did was, bought a gen 3 GLOCK 19, it cost less, and took the extra money and bought night sights and a extra 17 round mag as a spare. Sportsmans guide even has a 30 round GLOCK mag for about $35. Just sayin...

      ILeftRules I actually tested the 17 and 19 back to back 6 times today at the range. They are very similar. I am getting the 17 because I like the way it fits in my hand better and I like shooting it more. If I need to carry small gun, the 19 is not ideal. I have the taurus for that, or my snub nose 38.

I've put 1500 plus rounds in my g2 and not an issue, no failure and if you maintain any pistol itll last a life time ! The g2 is very accurate and great quality for the price and the grip on is it is awesome with adjustability for left and right hand shooting, features nice index and thumb rest! Idk why anyone would knock this pistol I've shot multiple compact 9mm, also full size and for a compact it's great! It's no full size competition gun but it's a great carry and defense pistol! I love it !

    I don't know why people hate on safeties. All guns should have one - it gives all customers the CHOICE. No safety just means less choice and cheaper fabrication/more profit for the manufacturers.

    • @MrTdw1954
      @MrTdw1954 8 років тому +2

      +JustifyJustin All semi autos had safeties until Glock came along. Now we have people that never learned to use one so they're resistant to change. The only reason Glock made the gun without a safety was to capture the business of cops that were used to revolvers with no safety. So now we have all these accidental discharges because people that can't remember to use a safety also can't remember to keep their finger away from the trigger.

      There are certain scenarios where a safety is relevant - it might not be for yours but just to rubbish it based on your use pattern is short sighted and deserves a low-iq response. Just saying.

    I paid $240.00 for a Taurus PT111 gen 2 yesterday. I guess Taurus was running a $50 rebate on their site, and my local dealer had already turned all of them in. Either way, MSRP everywhere I looked was $289.00. Great bargain gun.Thanks for the side by side. I bought this to train my wife, and she's much more comfortable with the safety, hence the Taurus instead of a G26.

  • @wayneedgeworth3029
    @wayneedgeworth3029 8 років тому +1

    I got my PT111 G2 for $240 and at that price you can get two for the price of one Glock 26. I'm not knocking Glock, I used to have the Model 22 in .40 cal and loved it. I ended up trading it for something else and wish I hadn't. Sure Glocks aren't pretty to look at but they are reliable and accurate. The only thing I didn't like on mine was the trigger guard, the side of my trigger finger would rub against it when the gun recoils. I just had to train myself to place my finger higher on the trigger to avoid that issue and I was fine. So far I've only shot 50 rounds through the G2 and once it adjust the sites to my liking all will be good. The weapon functions great, recoil is light, trigger is nice, trigger guard is not an issue, it seems to shoot consistent groups, looks and feels good in the hand, and it disassembles just like a Glock. My first pistol was a Taurus PT 101 and it was horrible to shoot and not very accurate and I never wanted to by another Taurus again but then I came across this little gem and just had to try it and I'm glad I did. Nice video by the way.

    Its an amazing gun. Amazing. Very reliable. Very good looking. Best grip I have. The trigger could be better but its sufficient and I got used to it quickly. The G2 is extremely accurate. 2" groups at 40 feet/10 shots with cheap ammo. easy. It came out of the box sighted in dead on. It puts lead exactly where I point it with any weight bullets.
