I found that using a reciprocating tool with a 60 grit small sanding pad (from Harbor Freight) is much better than a wire wheel to remove rust. It can be controlled much better and gets into tight spaces. Love the videos on your Wrangler TJs.
The best way to check for lift height is to measure the front and rear springs. Stock height is 8” in rear and 12” in front. Anything over that would be the amount of lift.
I got tired of messing with the rear shock bolts. I used a 3” hole saw and cut the floor right above the shocks and had easy access to the bolts. I screwed down some sheet metal and sealed the patches. My jeep isn’t booing to be in any car shows so I didn’t care you don’t even know unless you pull up the carpet. I also did the frame caps.I had my brother who’s a welder help me. It’s a lot of work cutting everything out but it’s probably stronger now than from factory. I sprayed my frame down with PB Blaster Surface Shield. You an research it on line it’s highly recommended and much better than paint for rust protection
Yeah, been there ,done that. You need a high speed dremel tool and 2" metal cut blade. That way you can get there.Cut the old ones out and just use regular nut and bolt.
