Atlanta Rhythm Section is a solid band. I have listened to them since way back then and they have never left my playlist. They are great musicians, so their music is always smooth. ARS, Al Stewart, Boston, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan are the bands that I have consistently listened to the most since the 70s.
Atlantic Rhythm Section is a great southern rock band from the 70's. Quite a few artists have recorded this song "Spooky". It started out as just an instrumental song in 1967 & lyrics were added later. Atlantic Rhythm Section do a good version of the song in 1979 but the most famous & best version was done by the Classics IV in 1968. The ARS had some great songs such as "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight", "So Into You", "Imaginary Lover", "Large Time" (tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd), "Do It Or Die" etc.
Omg 😲 I just commented on So Into you about the lead guitarist with ARS and Eric!!! Check it out! And the bass guitarist I saw them play in what was called underground Atlanta absolutely awesome solo!!
ARS is actually a spinoff band from Classics IV. Daughtry & Cobb, who were members of Classics IV were also inaugural members of ARS: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta_Rhythm_Section
1979 Grant Field/Bobby Dodd Stadium, Georgia Tech. I was there. This song is from the 60s. The Classics IV, which later became Atlanta Rhythm Section, recorded it.
This track was originally by the ‘60’s group Classics IV. Two members of ARS were members of that group and I believe wrote the original… so they’re effectively covering their own material.
Took my 9 y.o. grandson with me to see ARS at the Hellen Keller festival 9 years ago..They music still sounded so clean after all these years...What a treat for me to carry my grandson with me...
These guys were all studio musicians working at Studio One in Doraville, Ga. There are former members of The Classics Four who first recorded the vocal version. Info from a former studio guitarist from Atlanta, Ga.
I just watched y'all's reaction to "So Into You" and had to check out your reaction to this song, too [ thanks to a provided link by a subscriber ]. Both great songs. Both great reactions. On to "Imaginary Lover" and "Champagne Jam." Happy Halloween .
It's called the "Double Lead." when two electric guitars harmonize with each other. It's called "Double Lead." And no one today are doing double leads.
Killer song. 💜 Love, Love this & glad you got the right video of the performance too! I have listened to this nonstop for days, this and So Into You and Imaginary Lover.
I was at that concert....it was ARS's Champagne Jam '79 at Grant Field {Georgia Tech Stadium} downtown Atlanta! Also there was Aerosmith, Dixie Dregs, Whiteface, The Cars & another one of my favorite local ATL bands Mother's Finest! ARS have many great songs that you should check out - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌💖☮
Classics IV put this song on the map, they have a more keyboard friendly version. People already loved this song before ARS attempted it, but both versions are great.
That's not Rodney on lead vocals...that's the last great Ronnie Hammond...best voice in rock history with the exception of Paul Rodgers (Bad Company) IMO. Some people think ARS's version of this is a cover but technically it's not...Classics IV kinda turned into ARS...producer Buddy Buie & guitarist for both bands JR Cobb wrote the lyrics to Spooky...it was originally just an instrumental
Give the Classics IV ("4") a listen. More straight -up pop and with a SAX bridge (which someone would enjoy!), plus some subtle sound effects that I never heard on AM radio back in the day. Dennis Yost, the lead singer, had a distinctive and memorable voice. Another hit, their follow-up "Stormy", has been covered by many, most notably among them Santana.
Okay spooky has nothing to do with the music. The chick is "Spooky." I know you all know the type. Lol. It's like a rollercoaster ride from hell but you never want to get off of it! Lol. 😂😅😮
That chubby bass player ( Paul Goddard ) was one of the best bass players I've ever heard . He actually did a bass solo that couldn't be matched may he rest in peace . PK
Mean and clean. The bass takes you on board and cruises you right up to the finish. Classics IV version was a staple of easy listening stations. Both are worth a listen, any time.
ARS's first hit Doraville came out when I was in the Army stationed in Georgia 1974. It got a lot of airplay because they were from Georgia. Good song.
This was good, but it sounds strange because I can't get the Classics lV version out of my head. This and "Stormy" were two of my favorite songs of theirs. As for ARS I agree "Imaginary Lover" and "So Into You" are great songs by them to check out.
Perfect analogy of this group. Pretty underrated but damn they were GREAT! Loved them then and love them now! Like my music loud, gritty, and OLD!‼️✌🏻😎
I've been listening to these guys for going on 55 years. Lived in Chamblee, not too far from them. ARS is one of THE most under=rated bands ever. Over the years, they headlined for some major rock talent. They're still my favorites.
That's for another fun video... the usual recommendations for ARS are So Into You & Imaginary Lover... but my favorite is Large Time from their live album. Even if you listen from the album without video it is a treat!
You need to cover Classic IV on this song it's the original group. Your reaction to Year of the Cat is the best. Please take a look at this song by Classic IV. It's the best version and the original version.
One of my favorite songs to play on drums. Just the right groove. Man I love seeing you get into all this music I grew up with me your totally correct in your observations and comments.that off beat syncopated cymbal pattern was used on this version at just the right time. Still one of favorites. Love your channel. Right after this on Saturday night we might go funk rock try some "mother's finest"
Fun reaction! Some other spooky-themed songs are: 1. "Black Magic Woman," first a No. 37 pop hit for Fleetwood Mac in the U.K. in 1968-69 (before Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band in the mid-1970s), and later a huge No. 4 pop hit by Santana in the U.S. in 1970-71. 2. "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard.. 3. "Black Cat" by Janet Jackson, a No. 1 pop hit that actually is more rock than pop/R&B and has a killer guitar riff. 4. "Evil Woman" by ELO.
Love this band! Great music. Love your channel. I’m a professional musician record tracks for big stars. I love your research. I appreciate it. Keep it up. You are helping me recover from Covid. Thank you. 😊🎸☀️🌵🇺🇸🙏
Love this band! (Imaginary Lover and So Into You). This is a remake but I like ARS better. Never saw the video. I love his voice! Also like the guitar solo. Wow i am impressed you know Tommy James... On the radio they don't always play the instrumental ending. The ending always reminds me of music they play in the grocery store. 😄 Glad you guys liked it!
Once the Halloween marathon is over, check out "Champagne Jam" by Atlanta Rhythm Section, or my all time favorite by them, "Do It Or Die". I think you would like them both.
Many hits and the new version has some young guitarists that kill it…They were from a little town here in Atlanta called “ Doraville”…and it is a great song from them.
Large Time is a good song. Try it. I was at the concert they are referring to in the song. ARS played in Macon with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Those were the days…..late 70s!
"So Into You" and "Imaginary Lover" are other Atlanta Rhythm Section hits. I call this band a "Rock & Soul" group.
Don't forget Doraville. 🙂
Absolutely!! My two favorites.
Absolutely and don't forget Champagne Jam! 🥰
You should listen to ther RAW SONG, COCAIN CHARLIE! The Super 70s to a TEe
@@anitamartin4452 Lead Singer, Ronnie HAMMOND. HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN TTHIS 70s BOMBER! And he was a CHICK MAGNET!
My late wife and I were married on Halloween day - we danced to this at our wedding . has a special place in my heart .
My first marriage ( very young high school sweethearts) was on Halloween 1970. Still friends to this day , just too young. ❤
💔
So Into You, Imaginary Lover definitely!
Tommy James and the Shondelles!! Yes!!!! Crystal Blue Persuasion!! Eric Clapton, too! Bring it
I've seen these Guys in Concert very entertaining...
The tone, the pinch harmonics from Barry on that gold top is….well, gold.

"so into you" is their banger that you should check out.
Omg 😲 I just commented on So Into you about the lead guitarist with ARS and Eric!!! Check it out! And the bass guitarist I saw them play in what was called underground Atlanta absolutely awesome solo!!
For me the Classics IV version is the best - but I love ARS and you guys should check out some of their other songs others have mentioned.
Agreed. I remember the Classic IV version when I was still in high school back in 67.
Nice cover, but Yost & Classics IV certainly is Better.
ARS is actually a spinoff band from Classics IV. Daughtry & Cobb, who were members of Classics IV were also inaugural members of ARS:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta_Rhythm_Section
For me, THIS is the definitive version.
"So into you" and "Imaginary Lover" were huge songs for ARS, but where's the love for "Champagne Jam"? That's their best sleeper banger!
I'm from Atlanta and the Atlanta Rhythm Section/ARS is a great band with a lot of great songs and musicianship. And Spooky is a cover.
1979 Grant Field/Bobby Dodd Stadium, Georgia Tech. I was there. This song is from the 60s. The Classics IV, which later became Atlanta Rhythm Section, recorded it.
It's spooky what a classic this song is 👻
"Imaginary Lover" really good stuff as well "So into you". "Georgia Rhythm" listens great on the way home after a hard day at work
Thank you so much for my trip down memory lane, this 65yr. old lady caught major smiles on this one!
This track was originally by the ‘60’s group Classics IV. Two members of ARS were members of that group and I believe wrote the original… so they’re effectively covering their own material.
Two founding members of ARS were also in the group Classics IV, which recorded the original version of this song. Worth a listen!
THE BONAFIDE TRUE VERSION OF THIS IS BY THE CLASSICS IV.
Really great cover by the southern legends - ARS. Thanks for your reaction.
Three cool guys giving their "Spooky" reactions to this song!
Paul Goddard on bass. He was a master of the sweaty blues bass. I mean that in the best way possible.
Atlantic Rhythm Section is so underrated! Such a great sound, soulful and definitely Southern!
Took my 9 y.o. grandson with me to see ARS at the Hellen Keller festival 9 years ago..They music still sounded so clean after all these years...What a treat for me to carry my grandson with me...
Love your reactions and think you guys will also love 'Who'll be the fool tonight" by the Larsen-Feiten Band.
On to "Imaginary Lover" and "Champagne Jam."
Happy Halloween .
I love this song and the Classic 4's is awesome also.
It's called the "Double Lead." when two electric guitars harmonize with each other. It's called "Double Lead." And no one today are doing double leads.
Great band, great song...great reaction guys!! Always been on my permanent playlist
Love this song! And Crystal Blue Persuasion is one of my favorite songs ever!!! ❤❤❤❤
Southern Rock at its finest 🤘🏼😎
Love the song (always have) but what's spooky in this video is the singer putting his face right into the camera most of the time.
Killer song. 💜 Love, Love this & glad you got the right video of the performance too! I have listened to this nonstop for days, this and So Into You and Imaginary Lover.
Great song! Also loved their song Dog Days.
Black Oak Arkansas another great southern rock band
The album “Champagne Jam” is an absolute classic!!
So impressed that you know the term alliteration!
Good taste fellas also try So into you, and Imaginary lover
I was at that concert....it was ARS's Champagne Jam '79 at Grant Field {Georgia Tech Stadium} downtown Atlanta! Also there was Aerosmith, Dixie Dregs, Whiteface, The Cars & another one of my favorite local ATL bands Mother's Finest! Underrated classic. Loved the solos on this live performance cover.
Classics IV put this song on the map, they have a more keyboard friendly version. People already loved this song before ARS attempted it, but both versions are great.

Rock/Jazz/Funk Fusion...GREAT ICONIC BAND! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Check out “Imaginary Lover” by these guys.
That chubby bass player ( Paul Goddard ) was one of the best bass players I've ever heard . He actually did a bass solo that couldn't be matched may he rest in peace . PK
Dig out the Classic IV's version it is the best in my opinion, but then I'm an oldie too and appreciate them all.
Mean and clean. The bass takes you on board and cruises you right up to the finish. Classics IV version was a staple of easy listening stations. Both are worth a listen, any time.
So Into You and Imaginary Lover are must from this band.
If you like Paul Goddard on bass, play "Another Man's Woman" for his bad-ass solo.
Champagne Jam is a worthy listen of these guys.
Perfect analogy of this group. Pretty underrated but damn they were GREAT! Loved them then and love them now! Like my music loud, gritty, and OLD!‼️✌🏻😎
Great song. Great reaction! I saw them live in the late 80’s and they sounded good live.
Classics IV (4) version is my favorite-
I've been listening to these guys for going on 55 years. Lived in Chamblee, not too far from them. ARS is one of THE most under=rated bands ever. Over the years, they headlined for some major rock talent. They're still my favorites.
In this video the lead singer is the late Ronnie Hammond. He's the lead singer on, So into You and Imaginary Lover. You'll like both of those jams.
I love the way the dude with the gold Les Paul plays.......squealing , choking notes.....great attack on the instrument.
I have always really loved this song. Good choice!
Me too.
So into you, is their top hit.
I won't let it bother me tonite, is a great tune too.
These studio musicians formed the group.
Good version of this song. A Great Canadian Halloween song is Werewolf by 5 Man Electrical Band.
That's for another fun video... the usual recommendations for ARS are So Into You & Imaginary Lover... but my favorite is Large Time from their live album. Even if you listen from the album without video it is a treat!
When they toured in Japan, the women over there loved the bass player. And I think he was in the Classics 4 before joining ARS. Peace
And btw they sounded just as great live as in the studio!!#
Love love love this song. This song reminds me of my wife but a girl who rocks my world every night.
You need to cover Classic IV on this song it's the original group. Your reaction to Year of the Cat is the best. Please take a look at this song by Classic IV. It's the best version and the original version.
HOMESICK, from one of the original Southern Rock Bands.
Legendary Timeless Music Artist Group 🤩
I used to just love this band and this song. This song has a nice groove to it. Very popular around Halloween. Great reaction guys.
Deep rabbit hole for this band.
Great Channel guys and thanks for covering an era for me that is full of fun …..
The link below is a link to April wine being interviewed by some mtv dude. It’s a good watch
Since you mentioned "Smooth", you should hear smooth by Santana. It's a SMOOOOOOOOOOOOTH song. Trust me.
A great song to Halloween marathon is the video clip Duran Duran - Night Boat.
Love Nick's stank face during the solos. They are their own genre.
You would like their So Into You and Champagne Jam
I was a teen when this came out. Now 65.
"Green Manalishi" and "Hynotized" by Fleetwood Mac would be great entries, too.
These guys were in the group Classics IV
They sure can JAM! 💚💙💜
Paul Goddard is a great bassist. His solo in Another Man's Woman is IMO the best bass solo in rock music.
Other good songs by Atlanta Rhythm Section are "Do it or Die" and "Champagne Jam."
One of the most underrated guitar solos in rock by Barry Baily (R.I.P.) ARS's most famous song is probably Champaign Jam.
Once the Halloween marathon is over, check out "Champagne Jam" by Atlanta Rhythm Section, or my all time favorite by them, "Do It Or Die". I think you would like them both.
Check out "Champaign Jam" from these guys. They could rock!
The ARS version is by far the grooviest
Great group. Songs listed above will be great ones for you guys to react to after the Halloween marathon 👍🏻👊🏻😁
"So Into You" and "Homesick" are 2 other great ARS tunes.
Oh you've done it now. Atlanta Rhythm Section is awesome. You got to do the song So Into You.
