    The 1970's was a treasure trove of what would be called 'easy rock.' While Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were pushing the envelope of hard rock, radio friendly pop rock started implementing elements of R&B and using organ melodies over guitar riffs. It was still rock and roll, it just opted for a more relaxed, summertime vibe. It's hard to find anyone in Gen X who doesn't have a nostalgic connection to this music because it was literally on almost every radio when they were growing up. Much of it still holds up due to impeccable production, simple melodic hooks and a talent pool that didn't rely on auto-tune to sing the correct notes, in the right keys.

    As a child of the 70’s, I was so excited when music streaming started collecting all these great “Soft Rock Classics” and put them in a channel called Yacht Rock. I couldn’t careless what the channel was called…I was thankful I could push play and have all this classic greatness.
    I don’t understand all the hate on the channel’s name…who cares? Just enjoy!

    Holding On To Yesterday by Ambrosia. The studio is good. If you want something different, they did a simulcast with some FM station live. The video is not great, but because of simulcast the sound is really good. You get to watch David Pack and the rest of them do their harmonies. DO THIS ONE!

    I moved to middle Georgia in the early 1970s. It was the days when you could see the Allman Brothers walking around downtown Macon, the days of Capricorn Records, Elvin Bishop, Mussel Shoals and Southern Rock was king. It seems like an eternity has passed since then...

    ok, now you have to do Imaginary Lover. You can imagine the lyrics. And be listening because the singer says a woman's name in the song out of the blue. Sounds like Gabby Weinstein. The album this is from, "A Rock and Roll Alternative", is considered a classic and was rated 5 out of 5 stars in The Rolling Stone Album Guide.
    The ARS had perfected a sound that was lighter and more accessibly melodic than most Southern rock bands of the genre, but no less accomplished, they scored consistently on both the album and singles charts during their decade together. - AllMusic
    You know what reminds me of this a bit but faster? The following year's "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You" by Alan Parson Project.
    Playing "Law & Order" while staring at somebody in a jail cell? It could be worse, like somebody staring at you in jail playing "Balls to the Wall".

    The "Theme From Law & Order" was written by composer Mike Post, who had several Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 with his instrumental theme songs from various TV series. You might also like his songs: "Theme From The Rockford Files" (No. 10, 1975 ... 3 minutes, 11 seconds), "Theme From Magnum P.I." (No. 25, 1982 ... 3 minutes, 28 seconds), and "Theme From Hill Street Blues" (No. 10, 1981 ... 3 minutes, 14 seconds).

One of my all-time favorite Rock bands that pioneered the genre "Blue-eyed Soul' music which would later be enhanced by Hall & Oates and other bands.....very underrated Rock band....But this group, Allman Brothers, and Steely Dan created and pioneered, "Blue-eyed Soul." Excellent reactions!!!!! I requested this song 11 months ago....Glad you guys enjoyed it!!! I have their CD....I will find some more music from ARS for you guys to react to. Grea reactions guys!!! Love seeing you guys get excited about great music!!!

    • @gabrielmcdonnell8699
      @gabrielmcdonnell8699 Рік тому +2

      I *respectfully* disagree. Not saying that ARS didn’t use soulful accents in their music (I only know their few Top 40 hits) but as an R&B head, I’ve never heard ARS mentioned/cited in the ‘blue-eyed soul’ convo. Hall & Oates? Most definitely. (Btw, “Sara Smile” came out 1 yr *before* “So Into You” and “Sara Smile” is considered a ‘blue-eyed soul’ classic.) Other frequent ‘blue-eyed soul’ names incl Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins and Ambrosia, among others. Their primary music wasn’t R&B but they had songs that did well on the black music charts. This is nothing against ARS. I actually liked their hits but I never considered them ‘blue-eyed soul’. Music critics often bring up The Righteous Brothers as the pioneers of ‘blue-eyed soul’ and I don’t even agree with that claim. Again, I mean no disrespect (emphasize that bc I know these debates can get contentious). ✌🏽

    Wow, I had forgotten this song, and I always thought it was the Doobie Bros or the Stevw Miller Band. My mom used to listen to the 70s station (in the 80s), so I recognize it from there.

    "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight", "Do It or Die" and their second biggest hit, (behind "So Into You"), "Imaginary Lover" are all worthy of checking out.
    I know all of these songs because here in Cincinnati they would play them on local stations during Two for Tuesday and/or Three for Thursdays.
    Great video again guys. Love the reactions.

    I so enjoy the three of you, you really know your music. I remember this song well and liked it a lot. May I suggest you react to a group called Classics IV, songs Spooky and Stormy . Both great tunes! 👍😊

    Champagne Jam or Imaginary Lover should be next.
