    I've just changed the battery on my R1250R and it was very straightforward. However if I hadn't have watched your video first it would have taken a little longer as I'm sure I'd have struggled with getting the front plate off as its not immediately obvious that you have to lift it. Thanks for posting the video, I'm grateful.

      Thanks again.
      That’s done.
      I have had 1 problem when i have disconected the wires, the alarm has started until i connect back positive and negative .
      Then: a bit difficult to replace the black plate in the little down hole.
      Anyway: that is done with the help of your good video.
      Thank you again.
      Phil. ✌️

    Yep, also lost that rubber grommit on the frame but had already seen this issue on the R1200/1250RS forum and had two given to me by OceanBMW Plymouth.
    They are now both glued in position for future battery swops. NippyNormans is 5 miles from here in Devon and their cheap exide battery lasted 18 months !
    Now moved onto a Yusa 240 cca and the higher value definitely made the £105 purchase worth it, faster & crisper starting after the original mini-battery.

      Hi Dave,
      I ended up getting an original battery because the pattern parts were not giving the kind of start up I felt safe with on a trip!
      Good idea with the glue and thanks for mentioning as my bike is in for a service soon so will ask them to pop another one in.
      All the best…

    You are missing a rubber. See 3:51 On the right side on the frame for the panel.

      Hi Paul, thanks for watching as taking the time to comment.
      Well spotted but yes I know!
      It came off a while ago and keep forgetting to grab a replacement. They come off so easy unfortunately 😞.
      The panel is still secure but of course it’s not quite right without the rubber.
      Even BMW tech didn’t bother to put one on for me when changing the battery but my fault for not mentioning it I suppose!

    Very helpful video, i need to change my battery and this will be my guide to doing it. How have you found the batteries performance? I may see you in the Village sometime.

      Hi Kymfre01 - Thanks for watching and commenting. Unfortunately the battery was not very good and I ended up going back to Bmw to buy an original one. my bike definitely needs a lot of power to crank so a cheaper pattern part was not a solution.
      Glad to say no problem since putting the new battery in from Bmw. All the best and Ride Safe!

    If you connect a battery charger to the red post and a ground you won't lose any bike info, settings or time, mine came with the built in battery maintenance plug I plug into that to keep all the info and settings! Cheers!~

    Surprised to seethe original factory fitted battery was also a Motobatt!

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  2 роки тому

      Hi and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
      The original was not a motobatt.
      I bought one Motobatt battery and it didn’t work properly so they sent me a new one.
      I may have not made that point totally clear as I was only really doing the video to show how to change out the battery.
      Great service to be honest.

    Hi there! I removed my 2022 R's battery for the winter two weeks ago.Then I happened to talk to my dealer. He told me I shouldn't have done that, that it's better to charge the battery on the bike.
    He also said I probably deleted all the info including the date of the next service so we'll need to set it up in spring again. You seem to have no problem. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Thomas, I have not removed the battery for any length of time and if I charge the battery I do so with the battery in situ on the bike with my optimate charger. That said, I would not worry too much as your mileage dictates when the services should be, and ideally you should get the bike serviced at least once per year.
      Many people do remove batteries from their bikes over winter as they may not have electricity points near where they keep their bike so I’m sure you won’t be the only person being scared by their dealer. A new BMW battery costs about £175 fitted so maintaining the health of the battery is probably more important than the onboard computer remembering recorded data couch as servicing timings 😄.
      If you can charge it on the bike great but if not then I’m sure BMW will be quick to tell you, you should have been trickle charging your battery while the bike is not it use so you have to do what you have to do.
      Even when I recently bought a brand-new BMW battery on the bike, they asked me if I had a charger for the months when I won’t be using a bike, so they recommend you to charge the battery.
      When they ask me that question, they didn’t tell me to leave the battery on the bike .
      I hope this all helps and I wish you all the best back out on the bike when the weather improves.
      Cheers

      @@TheWrittleRider thank you for your answer! It has helped! I may start using the bike sooner than usual, as I'm moving from the Czech Republic down south to Croatia. I'll let you know if I run into any unexpected problems after putting the battery back. But like you said, there shouldn't be any major difficulties..

    • @richardcerritelli9657

      That wouldn't make sense because eventually your going to need a new battery so what he saying is when you need a new battery your going to delete all your information smh 🤦‍♂️

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  Рік тому +1

      Hi Richard, when you switch the battery it remembers everything with no issues. I cannot speak for if you take the battery off the bike all winter but I would like to think the important data should stay. That said for the cost of these bikes any dealer worth their salt should be able to assist without too much drama if removing that battery does delete some data.

    dead battery? how old was she?

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  2 роки тому

      Hi ber rol,
      Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment.
      The bike is just shy of 3 years old.
      BMW would not help on this, I assumed wrongly that the battery would be covered under the bikes warranty.
      So had to replace it myself or pay £175 for a new one from them.
      Its so simple to swap the battery out i thought I may as well try myself first.
