This is a Yuasa YTX14H-BS. 240cca over 200cca from standard. Exactly the same size. Direct replacement. Video missed reattaching the positive from the left terminal and I'd also watch those negative terminals as you positive was still live and can be earthed from the frame. I was please to know the positive extension post doesn't need removed to change battery. Also these all come pre filled, sealed and ready to go now.
Thanks for the video. 😃👍 It looked like you didn't reconnect the positive on the new battery in the video, or did I just miss that? Also, wouldn't it have been a good idea to remove your ring before changing the battery? 🤗
Yes, that’s possible but I recall that I also checked the connections before replacing. I read that it's also the amps that is needed to start a vehicle engine, a battery that has a bad cell can still show 12 volts but the amps that is needed won't be enough.
@@cmvantagepoint89 that is par for the course with BMW motorcycles. They are definitely not like they used to be. I’ll take less horsepower and more user-friendly maintenance any day of the week.
Can you tell me is this a sealed battery ? I am guessing not if you have to fill the battery with acid before use. I have a 2019 GSA and BMW changed the battery at 600 mile service. I believe BMW OEM batteries are shit. Every BMW motorcycle I owned all had their batteries changed under warranty by BMW without me asking (from multiple dealerships). My 2019 GSA is in need of its third battery even though I ride it and use a Deltran smart charger. During off season. I think the start up draw is just too much for this class battery as you can see it wouldn’t start with 12 V on the old battery. Just my opinion. And to be clear I have never had an charging issues with any of my BMWs as they are always checked before the dealership would replace the battery. These bike eat batteries like candy. Just my 2 cents
This is also an AGM battery. They also have a factory activated version but the one I bought still has to be activated by pouring in the electrolyte provided in a separate bottle. Once the top cover is closed, it should no longer be opened. It will be acid spillage resistant and vibration resistant.
@@cmvantagepoint89 I just bought a Yuasa YTX-14H BS factory activated The “H” is their high performance, 240 CCA instead of 200 and not really any heavier. We will see how it goes. Take care
AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries are sealed units as with the gell types. Adding that acid electrolyre shows it is a normal flooded cell, which is far superior to sealed cells in my opinion
Great job of shooting and editing. Easy to see and understand. Thanks for posting.

He probably cut out that part from the video for some reason, but at 4:14 you can see it is attached.
thank you for sharing !!
The original battery showing 12.2V should have easily started the bike. Perhaps it was a loose connection?

good job!
If my GS Is under warranty, they change the battery free of chagrge? And if not do i have to get the originall in order to keep my warranty?
In my case, my warranty was not voided when I replaced my battery with a Yuasa brand and not the OEM. Just make sure you replace with the right specs.
It dosnt give you the error code after you take the battery off??? So you have to take it to the bmw dealer ???
No error code after removing and replacing the battery. I just had my unit checked last week and no issues on the battery or electronics.
What year GS do you have. JP cycles fit indicator says that battery doesn’t fit…
Got mine on Dec 2020. That Yuasa model is the exact size of the OEM.
I bought a new 1250 gs this year and the battery is older than my bike also the wrong one !! guess it was a Friday afternoon bike bmw won’t replace it
Definitely not what you want on a new expensive bike 😅

Better buy VARTA or Lion battery
Thanks for the suggestion. May be when I replace again my battery. So far after 2 years this Yuasa battery is still working fine.

My dealer didn't even offer to replace it under warranty. I'm thinking about getting this battery for my 2020 r1250gs.

MOTOBATT ONLY WAY TO GO....
I have a 2018 GSA. The BMW battery shipped with my new bike was labeled manufacture date “2015.”…. What a load of cra…… !!!!!!!
