A&W was the first American fast food chain in Singapore & Malaysia. There are still quite a few around in both and many locals have a soft spot for the root beer & nostalgic vibe.
I'm 59 and I remember some of these restaurants that were here in Oklahoma and across the Red River in Texas but the only ones I've eaten were in Sizzler A&W and Bojangles but there any of them in this area anymore as far as i know Thanks for the delicious Memories.🇺🇲🍔📺🍕🇺🇲
I remember Biff Burger originated in the Tampa Bay area. Great burgers with special sauce, i used to buy them for 25 cents each back in the 70s. There was one across the street from where i worked in Tampa and would go there on lunch break.
Wish the video had been another one about desserts from the past. Another video about cakes from the past, pies from the past or even ice cream from the past would have been really nice to see.
We are moving to Jay, N.Y. There is still an A&W, in nearby Wilmington. We ate there last October. They are open from May to October, or “whenever we run out”.
Since you are dealing with food establishments that faded away, you should do a video on a food related business that NEEDS to fade away, and that's Door Dash. I ordered from a well known burger chain yesterday and didn't get what I ordered. I ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers and only got a burger with cheese and a bun ; no bacon, no ketchup, mustard or pickles and that was not the first time.😮 I checked out the reviews from different types of restaurants ; pizza parlors, deli, chicken, ethnic foods and I was surprised at how many people got incorrect orders, items were missing, stale, burned or undercooked. I went on a McDonalds site and a man ordered a cheeseburger bundle. Problem was, he got buns with mustard, ketchup and pickles but the burgers were missing !!! Exposure needs to be brought to this company becaus they are ripping us off. The people working in these places are poorly trained, don't follow intructions and apparently can't read,or don't understand English. THEY need to disappear !!!
@@Xiphos0311 I am licensed as a chef and I am a former restaurant manager. I do enjoy cooking but I also get kidney dialysis and if you know anything about dialysis, they are very taxing and wear you out like chemotherapy does. Sometimes, I just don't have the energy to cook. I don't order Door Dash all the time. Maybe once or twice a month .. Living in Philadelphia, sometimes I crave a cheese steak, pizza or a burger but I'm becoming more discerning about where I order from. Even those who cook as a profession, just want a break every so often.
@@Xiphos0311For the record, I am licensed as a chef and also happen to be a former restaurant manager. I enjoy cooking but sometimes, like most people, I just want to treat myself and I do that once a month. I also get medical treatments and on those days, I just don't have the energy to stand in front of a stove. Even people who cook for a living, just want a break and want someone else to prepare the meal. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself once in awhile and I'm sure you do it too. Regardless of the Industry ; food, retail, transportation, etc, as an employee, YOU represent that company and you are expected to provide that customer with outstanding service and a quality product or experience. The gentleman that ordered from McDonalds and got buns with no burgers; that is inexcusable !! Those employees should have been fired. The McDonald brothers and Ray Kroc, if they were still alive, would have been horrified. When I was a manager, the motto was; "the customer is the boss". After all it is THEIR money that is making up your paycheck. Regardless of where the food is ordered from, the customer has the right to get what they ordered. Perhaps you are ok with spending your hard earned money and NOT getting what you paid for, but I don't know many people who are. Substandard service and a poor or careless attitude are inappropriate in any industry. That is why I commented that if Door Dash is going to continue to give people rotten service, then they need to go out of business.
@jocelynharris-fx8ho it's not Door Dash's fault! they just pick up the orders at different restaurants and deliver them to the right customers! it's the restaurants fault for the bad food! so, please don't blame Door Dash! they have no idea what the food they're delivering is like!

These were all good places but my favorite was A&W root beer stands , The whistle dog and barbeque french fry salt was the bomb imo !
I miss Red Barn!
The chicken was incredible.

I still miss Pioneer Chicken and the Old A&W stands.
Don't forget the deep fried breaded mushrooms. My favorite!
My first job was washing dishes at the Sizzler 1986.

Great suggestion!

There is still an A&W in Indianola Iowa!
Bojangles is franchising out of the south in furious manner.
Here in Detroit we miss an incredible slider restaurant chain called Top Hat.
Way better than White Castle.
Naugles is now Del Taco.
10 eateries. 12 actually.
I don't know, man. "Special Biff Sauce" just sounds kinda....creepy.

Ever consider making your own food and not order garbage from a chain? did that thought ever pop in?

DQ and Fosters Freeze Hand dipped... More and more are closing... too expensive to keep open.
