- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Solaris Showdown" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

Fresh off a successful mission on the notorious Mercenary Star, Mason and crew journey to the Hardcore system where they collide with 'Mech pilot Duncan Fisher embarking on a quest to secure a spot in the FedCom Unification Tournament. Forming an unlikely alliance, Mason and Fisher traverse the shadows of Solaris, engage in harrowing 'Mech duels, and race against the clock to save the day - a true Solaris Showdown.
Join Duncan Fisher in a race against time to thwart the overthrow of the Solaris Council, discover the new Loader King 'Mech, select new weapons and equipment tailored for close-quarter engagements, and help save the very future of Solaris.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

I’m loving this series in the arenas and vanilla, please keep this one going!
There was an update to fix things, I can finally get into the arena and my buddies can find their way out! But, back to Vanilla....
keep going ...having fun here...either way will enjoy the series
I'm enjoying the vanilla content, won't lie however that I'm not a sucker though for the modded content playthroughs! Love the expanded builds that can be done with YAML
I enjoy this fast paced content that is less about min/maxing and more about explosions.... its a fun change of pace similar to your MWO content.
Keep going with this play. You ran out of ammo because you lost the bin in the right leg.
no, he just kept blasting like crazy :P thats why he ran out. His leg still had armor when he ran out of ammo, the dmg to the leg was from the laser fighting afterwards. he runs out at 34:47 as you can se his leg armor then was only lightly dmgd and no internal dmg.

It was fun to watch as you smashed the opponents to pieces with the Highlander.

this is fun to watch but i think if you try it modded its going to be god mode, you could go back to a different campaign with mods or even start a new one cause solaris fights are available at the repair hubs so you can do them when you need c-bills
Great episode showcasing arena content! I would love to see you start a new modded campaign. Maybe use YARW to change things up a bit? I am using it with my fresh modded playthrough and its like rediscovering all the weapons again. Some pretty cool stuff. Little Tex has put a lot of work into it and the revamped quirks sister mod as well, updates often, so thats fun too seeing new stuff.
Make sure you look at the mission. Sometimes your Liason will state at the top what the crowd might be interested in seeing, and you can pick your mech/s appropriately for that.
I've already started modding the game with the recent DLC. Gonna say, the combat doesn't really change too much between modded and unmodded, but I will say the AI does feel more reactive and effective compared to unmodded.
Great to see some vanilla play. That Urbie went Surgy, surging with tremndous speed! Like injecting absinthe mixed with coffee or energy drink into the reactor! I usually go with Flea and shenanigans😁 wish for more Flea variants down the timeline. The 19, 20, 21, Fire Ant etc
Solaris rules are a whole different game in the pen & paper version...same here. Makes for a fun interlude from the "normal" mech content for sure. That Highlander...siiiiiick. Also, who in their right mind makes a FAST Urbie??!?!? There's a padded room waiting for that...

Most of the primary mods are already working fine. Been using them for my current playthrough if you want to see.
@@Commander_XVII Yeah I got them all DL'd the steam linked mods are no good they made the game not load. Straight from Nexus they work just fine. That'll teach me a lesson in being lazy.

While Im not really interested in Solaris, general approach with mods pleases me. You are doing great job, buddy. And Im reallly greateful for that.
I honestly enjoy the arena matches in vanilla but if you want to mod it then go ahead as long as you enjoy the game.
i gotta, say. my favorite new weapons are the ac/2 rf and ac/5 rf. (granted with YAE for the double bin of ammo) are they great or the strongest out there? not really, but they are fun, spending 2500 rounds of ac2 in a mission is screen shaking fun lol.
Ive been enjoying them a lot as well. Ive been using them with the YARW mod in my current playthrough, really adds some depth to them with alternative ammo type.
I'm here for big stompy robots - so bring them on 😁👍
I like the fast arena fights
all i could think while watching was "this Anni will keeel"
The update is live, I was able to salvage an arena urbanmech in a light free for all and I found the hero loader king at a hub.
i build my kintaro with stream srm and i have 3 srm6 and 1 srm4 and some double heat sinks, i think the art V are not worth it when you can have more power
also you forgot to repair the urbi before the free for all after the duel
I say keep it vanilla for a bit, see how the difficulty ramps up and then go ahead with the Mods. I see some crazy YAML Builds in the near future!

hey! ive been a subscriber for a long time i dont play mechwarrior online, because i dont have a gaming PC. but i play Mercenaries on the Xbox and i just wanted to say i appreciate you doing unmodded playthroughs since i cant do mods on the Xbox! also im loving the arena expansion best one yet in my opinion!
arena fight are cool (its an entertaining way for you to farm equipment, insread of missions that take 25+ minutes ti finish you get 3-4 arena matches instead.
keep going as is enjoying it

Keep the Solaris going! Love the quick pace and variety of battles. But I haven't played in a few months, have any new cool mods been released?
The hero panther kk I believe has two large energy hard points. Two ppc x and an Artemis lV double heat sinks. It’s ridiculous. I’m running light arena solo, and sometimes add it to my medium lance.
4 PPCX on the Annihilator is INSANE!
The arenas are still fun for me. Maybe make some gimmick builds to test.
Modded will fully unleash the potential here i guess.
I'm enjoying this style. I'm curious as to the progress for the different weights and sponsors.
I prefer the struggle to the top in your modded series, feels more high stakes when a mistake is made.
its interesting and i would like to see what all the extra solaris upgrades and increases do but sigh MODED is so much better. you can do the same thing but have so much more choices. i wish hairbrained would do another battletech game bigger and crazier than what is now. my Vote...... Go moded if its available. more of an arena challenge? and you may get pissed off more and want revenge? :p
Personally, I would be interested to see what happens, if an AC 20 RF or BF is used in these fairly close fights.
I hope he finds a mal-1r. It can wield the true power of the new ac2 RF

@@davehill8541 i did something similar, but i went 2x lrm5 to make it full ranged support
I went 4 light rifles, 2 large pulse and 2 srm4 all lvl 4. A good warzone/battlefield set up I haven't taken into the arena yet.

also check your 2nd dary mission you had do 50 damage with missiles and energy (wich missile you did and didn´t notice at all lol) missions in last fight tough its fun slashing enemies and propably just 1 less arena fame points...
More of this please. I'd really like to see you go all the way to the top (unmodded) at Solaris, before you introduce mods and try again.
If you are able to find the Lazarus, I definitely think it's a decent mech! The Indomitable isn't worth it in my opinion, but I'm not a big fan of the Loaderking.
For light duels I use either urbi with ppx small lasers and MG or the crazy Firestarter with 6 mgs and the light rifles rf it slaps mechs so hard
solaris seems fun if not very balanced...
Sow your wild melee oats. Go absolutely nuts. Then perhaps try it again modded?
the medium lance is best for poking at IGOR

If you go back to your modded series and enter this DLC, will the opponents be drawn from the same arena pool of mechs? They'll be a little underwhelming I think. I think I'd still like to see it, as the mods bring so much more to the table.

It is interesting to see that the developers have the same trouble as the mod creators: AI in the stadiums not being able to find its way.

The AI programming in this game is shocking.

twisting to avoud damage does not work in mw5 sadly (since how the ai hits you is based on hit no hit % and location is determined at calculation and then they fire)
Anni didn't have thermal vision?
thermal is a modded feature, vanilla only has night vision, which doesn't help vs the fog.

I've tried so hard to love this DLC, but there's just so many instances where this is inferior to MW4 Mercenaries Solaris. I go out of my way to not compare the two games, but in this instance that WAS Solaris. This doesn't feel like its as fleshed out as it should be, and frankly the vibe just feels wrong. Idk, this just feels like its the first DLC that's not completely worth it.
Personally, I much prefer modded over vanilla
