- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Solaris Showdown" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

Fresh off a successful mission on the notorious Mercenary Star, Mason and crew journey to the Hardcore system where they collide with 'Mech pilot Duncan Fisher embarking on a quest to secure a spot in the FedCom Unification Tournament. Forming an unlikely alliance, Mason and Fisher traverse the shadows of Solaris, engage in harrowing 'Mech duels, and race against the clock to save the day - a true Solaris Showdown.
Join Duncan Fisher in a race against time to thwart the overthrow of the Solaris Council, discover the new Loader King 'Mech, select new weapons and equipment tailored for close-quarter engagements, and help save the very future of Solaris.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

if you actualyl read the descriptions it tells you what the optional requirements are going to involve (energy, missile etc)

I took 2 light mechs by mistake for a single medium arena mission but met the weight requirements. However they sent in Adjudicators, helicopters to attack me, as well as the opponent.
Every day is a good day to be meching with the boys

watching your you-tube vids (both mw5 and hbs BT roguetech) is one of the highlights of my day (currently sitting in a chair getting chemo treatment)
edit since my computer crashed while watching and you hadnt gotten the second crusader (the CRD-2R yet when i wrote this (it is also one of the best variants :
technically srm streams are better than regular ones (they have allmost twice the fire rate ) but you need to keep on target since they fire in a line rather than in a cluster.
on crusader CDR-2R(6 srm4 stream artemis IV while great only lowers the spread and not cooldown time, using the weight for more ammo (4 tons should be good for arena, while 5 or 6 for missions like base defence and the like where ammo can be an issue and lastly if running it on regular missions i woul add 2 mediums for anti air.
btw for chopper kills in cantina missions run assaults in a light match and have an anti air build (anihilator with ppc-x works great) and swat down all the helicopters.
also tha ani runs on single heatsinks if you swap them for doubles you can add medium lasers for when you want to do pinpoint dps.
and yes i am indeed entertained(
Saw a loading tip that said the same, as well as Stream + Art IV even better. Much less spread.
@@slate613 in vanilla artemis srm`s weigh to much (since you are at the mercy of the in built engine and cooling system)
so i only run artemis on thelegendary mechs wich have dhs endo xl engine or the like, the agincourt being the best srm mech in the game 6 srm 4`s with artemis ammo and dhs using streams on chainfire and a highoerformance flightcontroller and aiming with one of 2 tophats, thats for vanilla)
with yaml i run it with a lower rated engine and all clan srm 6 artemis IV with 4 clan mediums for air defense, it slaps anything in 1 or two triggerpuils run it as one of my 2 heavy mechs for my commander (the other one being a black knight runing 3 clan lg lasers and 5 clan er mediums (large is for headcapping, and the mediums are the workhorse for dps it is hot like a sauna but works well when you are doing assassination missions since it headcaps anything with the 3 tier 5 large lasers hitting the head)
When you were wondering if ramming caused melee damage, all I could see is the Urbie running full out, jumping and spearing other mechs with it's head! 🤣
The BattleTech book about Solaris 7 is pretty good. I'd recommend reading it. It's not expensive as an e-book either. 🙂

Have you thought about using the revamped weapon and quirks mods with YAML? Im using it currently, makes things interesting again. Have to look at what each weapon does again.
Man, it's gonna be great when you start the modded series with this new dlc.

Each arena contract has notes on what the bonus will focus on, Missile or ballistic or physical, or if you need to damage specific parts. It's frustrating to see crowds wants to see missiles fly and then ok, let's pick the all energy mech....
The 4 binary laser experiment with my hero King Crab failed big. Alpha strike = shutdown.
binary lasers sadly suffer the 3 sins of any weapon: its to hot and to heavy compared to its range and dmg
PGI still need to fix these mechs which are holding positions in arena. According patch notes it should be fixed but it is clearly not.
That Urbie is fast because it has supercharger.
More exactly, the AI dosent obey rules, and always has masc and supercharger running…. And the new one is double the speed boost…
that spesific urbie also runs a xl highrated engine too (90 kphs i think even without the supercharger, makes them go 120 =)
rather than take the artimis on the crusader you could use the weight for two lasers and some mg's then it can contribute to all the damage type bonuses
Hey Bara. You have the StarMap unlocked and aren't forced into a contract. Leave Solaris and find another Hub for a new market

But seriously, that Highlander belted its way through all the enemies. The Crusader is looking like it will be a good heavy mech and the Annihilator with the PPC-X did well, except for its slow speed. The PPC-X looks to operate like a shotgun, splattering opponents at short range but lacking in long rang punch.
This DLC proves what roguetech mods have been getting wrong for a long time now.
Melee should deal HUGE damage.
They nerfed melee several years ago after Baradul showed like a 1000 plus dmg on one of builds...but that was total crap decision.
Because Baradul had a specific set of items that were stacking.
And instead of correcting a stacking aspect they nerfed the whole melee mechanic, leading to piss poor performance without many dedicated items stacking.
MechWarrior 5 has departed from Battletech's balance since its release. Finding a balance between fun and lore is difficult.
1vs1 duel, go for max money.
They need to get rid of or revamp the agro system. It makes no sense in an FFA arena scenario.
I can't stand this games recoil animation with Ballistics. Watching it just makes me motion sick. Its sad too because the mechs/weapons don't have a recoil animation, ONLY the pilot has one. The animation just makes the camera go up and down like someone nodding quickly. The crosshairs stay in place when the recoil animation goes off, so you can just keep firing without actually getting any kind of penalty to hit. The Mod to get rid of the recoil animation is a must for me or I can't use Ballistics, and they are my favorite.
The ai has become so much worse its ment to get better with updates man

It's not great. If they gave the AI massively increased radar for arena matches, maybe that would help with mech's standing around with hands in pockets.
Just finished Solaris DLC, it was great! Now to mod! I am loving this but I miss YAML !!!! LOL
