Thanks for the review Dave. You are always so full of positive energy. The "plastic tab"' is to allow the wifi signal through the magnesium alloy chassis. My machine arrived just last week. The keyboard is AWESOME. It feels great, my unit has almost zero "play" on each key cap. Typing actually feels amazing. The overall build quality is solid as a rock, far more premium than is apparant in this video. I was very pleasantly surprised. There are some recurring speaker driver issues, that sneak in with each new Windows update. These are usually easily resolved fairly simply, he is right the speakers are clear but aren't loud.
@@abcdnnbc3067 I'm in Australia so my version is from Aftershock. But it is the same machine just with a differ type sticker (which thankfully peels off).

Im willing to bet his unit had liquid metal. Something just seems off with the thermals. I wish we had more on this laptop as i am very interested in it.
I've been seriously thinking about picking up this laptop, out of the research I've done just like all previous Eluktronic laptops you want to purchase them on the website for best thermal performance because you can upgrade the thermal paste on their website which is most likely what Dave has in this review unit. You also get a Dbrand skin of choice which I'm not sure is included with the Amazon model.
No offense Dave, but your thermal performance results are not realistic. Try running Forza Horizon 4 benchmark then show max temps. This is the game that actually uses all cores on CPU equally. You don't even have to buy game, the free demo has benchmark in it.
Psychologie-lernen .de it’s really expensive, especially the 2070 version. No sales or discounts from what I can tell, considering the laptop hasn’t even launched yet.

I'm a big fan of the XPS 15 line, but the thermals mean I'll probably look at this when I replace my 9560 next year. Wish it had thunderbolt charging -- I have my laptops docked 75% of the time.
I bought a XPS 9560 but it had video software glitches which Dell couldn't fix remotely (Pro Support), multiple times. They offered a replacement but that would've meant no laptop for Uni which was not an option. So, I had to make a second purchase. The second one finally arrived and it was USED, with a DIRTY palmrest, USED CORD, and a BENT SCREEN (it bowed in the middle). Someone had clearly used and abused it and I couldn't believe that Dell would send me something like this as a whole separate purchase. Of course, then I had to prove all of that, so sent photos, etc, and waited for THEIR decision. By now I'm over five grand out of pocket and still using the first faulty laptop. They offer a replacement for the second purchase and guess what, it has the same software glitches as the first and again (!!) a bowed screen. AGAIN, I had to prove it with pics and multiple emails. I was so disgusted! In the end I got a full refund but the whole process was pathetic. I spoke to so many people until I was offered a refund. CUT TO: Last December. A few months had passed and the bad taste had worn off a bit. So, I decided to buy a XPS 9570 and give those blowhards another chance (because I love the look and feel of the XPS) - if only they could send me one that worked!). Well, all was fine until three months later when the speakers malfunctioned (I was getting a tinny/ broken type sound). Several remote sessions later, I had new issues, malfunctioning fingerprint sensor, video software glitche AGAIN (this time a pale brown pixelated split screen effect as opposed to the random red and green pixels the previous time), and some other problems. After many more remote sessions than last year, they refused to offer a replacement, citing the next one would "probably have a problem". LOL! In other words, they were blaming me for the issues their laptops had. The previous incident had already been stressing me out which made Uni all the more stressful and yet again the same thing was happening. They were convinced the speaker failure was software related but every attempt to fix it (by them) was a BIG FAIL. It took months until they offered a refund but NO REPLACEMENT, which is probably for the best! By this stage I had spoken to at least twenty to thirty people and had to wait weeks for them to offer a fair outcome. Oh, by the way, they offered to replace the speakers in house with refurbished speakers. YEAH, that's what I paid thousands for. This whole saga has been affecting my studies because as any of you know, who are doing a major degree, studies are stressful enough. It's amazing I have a H2 average but I've had to take leave because of all the headaches. If I counted every email and phone call, I would say there were between one and two hundred interactions all up. Also, I was called by an individual who said she would be my last port of call. But nope, I spoke to at least ten people after her. What a joke. Dell's customer service is truly a disgrace (apart from the kind reps I spoke to, who did try to help), but the unseen higher employees calling the shots really make me want to PUKE!
I’d be interested in understanding what exactly makes this laptop thermally better than others because based on the internal cooling setup it doesn’t look any different than other gaming laptops.
If you're still watching this in 2021 - I have just bought one of these laptops (XMG Fusion 15). If you have a bigger than 100wh battery in most cases you have to tell the airline so they know. For most airlines they limit to a maximum of 3 batteries, but emirates for example has no limit for over 100wh batteries. The absolute limit is 160wh actually where no airline will allow a battery bigger than that
The way he ripped that back panel off was so reckless, my heart stopped for a minute
It was already unscrewed and removed. He probably accidentally pushed the clips back in and didn't realize it until he was pulling and needed a little more strength that he was ready for. Laptops these days require a lot of force for panel removal and I don't know why.

I checked the price on Amazon, and I noticed that the price difference between the 1660ti and the 2070 model is only $300. For same 16/512 configuration you pay 1499 and 1799 for them. Usually you spend $500-600 jump form 1660ti to 2070. The price on the 2070 is so good that made the 1660ti model looks overpriced.
The 1660ti has a decent price. But you are right it makes the 2070 look much better comparatively

Thanks for the review Dave. You are always so full of positive energy.
The Mag-15 base model is $150 more than the Lenovo y740 which has a 1tb m.2 drive (not the slow 512mb intel 660p m.2 drive which is in the Mag-15), 2060 graphics, brighter screen, and has service centers in my country.
The downside is the Lenovo has only 57wh battery, half that of the Mag-15 (it can be replaced with a 74wh one though), it's 1.5lb heavier when the massive power brick is included and has the special keys which mess up the keyboard.
But for $150 price difference I can get the 74wh battery and a very decent Bluetooth speaker.
I hope Lenovo takes some ideas from the mag-15 like magnesium alloy body, huge battery, and standard keyboard.
holy crap, this indeed looks totally awesome! glad to see the underdogs bringing the heat to the gaming laptop world, about time they got their act together and push the innovation foward :D

WTF I just got my XPS 15. I totally would have gone with this instead!

Return it
You need to return that xps15. I have been having so many issues with mine and it's only been 6 months
