Fixed my car thanks, had the relay in passenger seat for a year after googling. Didnt want to replace it and your trick showed me it was indeed the issue. the last few days i couldnt start my car at all used to only happen in hot weather.

If it is something other than switch on column. Put key in run position Pull starter relay and jump out the two contacts with a piece of wire, paper clip, etc on the electrical electrical center. You can see which terminals by looking at diagram on the relay. That will usually work.

2002 Chrysler T & C LX 3,3L Flex.. starts when it wants to.. first try, or anywhere later. Also p1684, p0700 from dash. My key comes out while driving, so I guess a cylinder, and maybe the ignition switch. I am replacing the In/Out Trans. Sensors, and the Solenoid pack next to them. Checking condition of TCM under the left front wheel well.. might need that.

Hello I’m having the problem and replaced the ignition switch and still nothing do you have any suggestions on something else it might be a little insight would help thank you and have a blessed day
bought one didn't work, bought another didn't work bought an oem one didn't work, took about 3 inches of black elec tape cut long ways and wrapped the shaft and used a little force to make it go on (reasoning, to limit the amount of play the shaft and switch seem to have) then I put a cable tie around switch so I have something to anchor to and another cable tie from that one to the bottom of the steering column screw (1 of 3) what I'm trying to do is make the switch NOT move at all (the one tiny screw apparently is NOT enough) so far so good

Could you advise on the next steps for an '07 PT Cruiser? We replaced the battery, starter, alternator, and battery cables and it still will not always start - but intermittently it'll start with no issues. The starter relay at the firewall will click rapidly when it does not start, but otherwise it fires up as normal.
It starts most of the time so we tried this trick to fiddle with it and to cause it to break (and then to try and fix it if it does) but it didn't fail. We'll have to wait until it does to test it for sure, but it still has the chance to start on its own.
I got a question. On a 2002 pt cruiser non turbo ,starter area. What is the green wire, on the starter,with battery cable positive? Mine is burnt in half,what happened?😮

Hey bro, I did this trick after watching your video. It did work, but I started it, and it shut back off, I did this about 6 times and it stopped cranking over completely.. I was doing this to start my car but now it’s not working. The battery light keeps coming on but when I have it a jump it didn’t work also before it stopped working when I turned the windshield wipers on it made the car shut off. I spoke to a mechanic and he said I need a new starter. What do you think?
Btw I tried the finger trick...not my ignition switch...I just had to ran a wire from the starter coil and another from positive and fed to inside car and attached a pushbutton switch...works good.
Are you dealing with a no crank? Is this a 2006 or higher PT. I suggest doing your no crank test at the starter relay. Also are you subscribed to the channel?

@@OnlineMechanicTips My car only runs rough when it's warmed up also if i drive it runs great but if i stop and a light it will run a little rough when i rev it up once the rmps go down it will misfire or turn my wheel only when i come to a stop and the engine is warm i changed the alternator battery engine coils spark plugs cam and crankshaft sensors cleaned throttle body and MAF changed pcv valve got the timing done did a compression test came back good and some other things i cant remember

Hello sir. I have a 2007 Pt cruiser and it keeps jerking on me like it wants to kill. Well when I was driving bit killed on me. It started back up and when I push the gas it killed again. I parked and it started back up. It drove for awhile then started jerking again. I got off the gas then back on it until I got home. Now I've changed the thermostat cause it kept running hot. It's not anymore. Then I changed the camshaft. I HV not checked the crank shaft cause I can't do that myself nor do I have money for a mechanic. Could there be something else causing it. I check a few little fuses Under the hood but all ok. Please help if u can. Thank you
Hello my friend. You are guessing at parts that you have heard fails on these. Without getting the car diagnosed, you likely will keep wasting money on parts you may not need. Not much I can do without diagnosing it

Yes, I suggest you properly diagnose it. It will get expensive just throwing parts at this problem. This video is of a gen 2 PT Cruiser, your year model is a gen 1 2001 model. You need to follow steps in my other video. Are you subscribed to the channel?

So I've also got a PT Cruiser that won't crank or start, and the tire pressure light keeps blinking after I try to start my car. Is this a security problem? I've tried replacing the key, and my mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with it! No problems with the battery, car just won't start
My friend, this is so not enuff info. What year is the car? When you turn the key, what happens? If this a no crank, the diagnostics should be done at the starter relay. Also, are you subscribed to the channel?

A , Chrysler Plymouth Fury roundabout 1977 had a ignition system that made me laugh.

Those , wood-handled loop chicken leg pullers you pull a chicken out of a pen with , the 2 door Fury had a galvanized metal shaft all the way down the collar that pulled a switch at the bottom of the steering column.

Just put one of those would handle chicken receivers in the back of the truck in case you have problems and you got it .

Hey Jay, an ignition switch will not cause your car to shut off/stall out. The car in this video a gen 2 PT Cruiser, your 2004 model is a gen 1. Thats why they different. What do you mean by "wont crank"? Is the car spinning over when you turn key?
@@OnlineMechanicTips i did all your tests, found ground was dead, ordered a new pre-programmed pcu, then found the 20amp fuse also blow under hood associated with fuel cutoff/start. put everything together, but car wont idle and scanner wont connect to car to read code, have power at port but scanner not connecting to give me code? Im loosing my mind at this point

What I'm finding frustrating is that you did not take the time to show how you took the plastic cover off to even begin to show us the unique hack.... totally frustrating when you are doing your best to learn... right now my PT Cruizer has NO Crank and the lights and everything else works but the car will not start! Please consider doing step by step... today I've watched several of your video's but you haven't shown the step by step on the how to take thing apart to be able to replace the part... I bought this car 2 weeks ago and everything worked at the time... 2 weeks later it won't crank... and I'm certainly not able to drive it either... I'm not a mechanic that's why I rely on step by step instructions... (That's what makes great video's)

I have a 2002 pto cruiser AT, 4 cylinder, the following has been replaced, 1st it had a head gasket replace and valve job, all by Chrysler, then it intermittently would start and not run. Then I got it I can do mechanic work, but don't like it, I found a lot of wiring problems, after the computer was replaced along with the coil pak, cam shaft sensor, right now that's all I can remember, also it doesn't have a security system on it. And it is not a turbo, it looks like the purple one in your video. Also I have striped the wiring from the front of the motor to the firewall and it all meters out good. Fuel pump works, when this thing works it hits on the first turn over, but if something is wrong the asd shuts down. Can you give anything else I can check oh ignition switch is good mechanical and electrical. eaveswk@gmail.com. thanks in advance. Jon Eaves
