    Lettuce tip: I learned this as a teen working in a restaurant 40 years ago - palm the head of lettuce and slam the core on the counter, just hard enough to 'pop' the core loose; then pull it out of the head. Might need a little twist of the core to finish breaking it loose.

      Yes, it works for cabbage too!

    • @Pamela_Gram
      @Pamela_Gram 2 дні тому +1

      That's how I learned it also. Now, 63 years later, I'm still doing it that way. Slam that core down and twist it out the and rest of lettuce is great.

    Spanish green olives come stuffed with pimento, which is a vegetable.
    The queen olives are usually used in martini's, but would be fine in the salad.

    The yellow part is sweet and tender, it's the hard thick white lettuce you want to get rid of, it's bitter.

  • @lorelynleisure4048
    @lorelynleisure4048 4 дні тому +6

    I can't wait to try this! You have the right olives, and the pimento is a type of roasted red pepper. Get some anchovy paste, and mix it into the dressing, it'll add great depth of flavor. You've already had anchovies if you've eaten Caesar Salad, they're mashed up and in the dressing. Love your channel, thank you!

  • @jakryk

    The hard stuff is the core. If you want, you slam your lettuce bottom first on your cutting board and the core will twist out.

    I have been cooking for a big family for five decades. I have always washed the head of lettuce by cutting off the bitter part at the end, opening up the leaves a little, then rinsing it well in cold water. Let it drain in a colander for two minutes and then wrap it in a clean dish towel, take it out on the porch, and swing it around vigorously, holding the four corners of the towel firmly in your hand. In the spring and summer you can aim the swinging towel towards your flower planters. You’re welcome. 😬 (If you have a preadolescent boy in the house this is a chore that they usually beg to do. 😅)

I dropped the weight quickly and easily, energy was great, went to a few gym sessions to tone and lengthen muscles, discovered how muscle mass help metabolism, started running (!) Felt really good about muscle tone. I did fall off the keto path so weight returned for a while. I fixed a few things, leaned back into keto.....slow slow slow habits turned around, now I'm getting back into the zone and finding a way to move things around so that life is improving.....keto is great, focus on what works . 💖

    Queen refers to the size of the olives ! They are still green olives rather than cured (black ) olives. Julienne is long narrow strips of meat or veg. Yes you eat the center of lettuce! Caesar dressing is healthy if made with good olive oil and parmesan and fresh egg yolk or coddled egg, fresh lemon juice etc.. I’d double the meat and cheese. Olive oil 954 calories per half cup. Salad looks delicious. I’d probably put the dressing (including anchovies, which, by the way are in Caesar dressing) in my Nutribullet to mix- makes a nice emulsification.
