- This Tuna Salad Recipe is AMAZING! It's literally the best Tuna Salad I've ever had. Matthew McConaughey recently went viral on the Podcast "2 Bears, 1 Cave" discussing his Tuna Salad recipe he creates for his family on Sundays.

The fact that you gave kitty her treats because her smelling the tuna wasn't fair earned my sub.

Matthew mentioned that he cleans out his refrigerator when he makes tuna salad so he probably has different versions of tuna salad not just this one.
I imagine so as well!
LPT, jalapenio chips are dried jalapenios, not jalapeno-flavored potato chips. You can find these in the salad topping section of your grocery store.
I love tuna salad, and I am fascinated with this recipe.
@@McKaypart2 exactly why I wanted to try this too! I wish he’d come out with a chicken salad one lol
The only thing I did different is instead of jalapeño chips, I used crunchy dried jalapeños and I use Best Foods Mayo. I do not like the avocado Mayo. It’s just preferences as you should use what you have in your pantry❤
Thanks for showing the recipe. You are a natural on camera👍🎄

To those commenting on the Jalapeno chips... Oh good grief. I bought some in the salad topping section. They are deep fried like the French Onions. Oh my... I made a small recipe of the green bean casserole the other day.... I mixed in the Jalapeno Chips for a little extra zing to the recipe as a little something different.... It was amazing TO ME. If it doesnt work for you, thats ok. I only added in the jalapeno chips on the portion of casserole I ate and trust me, I was not disappointed. I will do this again. p.s. I love your demeanor. I'll be watching for you again!!!

Jalapeño crisps (aka Crispy Jalapeños) not chips! 😂
Available at the grocery store!
Agree with you…there has been so much debate over whether he means Jalapeño Chips (as in potato) or those Crispy Jalapeño, salad toppers. It being potato chips does not make sense to me 😅
The tato chips are absolutely delicious in this.
What location is the jalapeno crisps in?

Let me know what you think!
The Jalapeño are not chips, flavored potato chips, or even the dried Jalapenos like dried onions you put on top of casseroles (although those are great on salads, or even in this tuna salad.). I have made this recipe about 5-6 times in large batches (it lasts all week in the refrigerator), before the video went viral and people started filming their try at it. The Jalapeños Matthew M. is using are dried, yes but they are suspended in an oil in a jar. They are ground pretty fine and have a crunch to them. There are follow-up videos of Matthew where people are asking him about them and he describes. Check out Don Chilio brand "Chili Crisp" as an example in a 5 oz. jar. There are several type chilis available, including Jalapeno. I have found other brands in Albertsons and Grocery Outlet and I believe Vons here in Southern Coastal California. Also, I have done the recipe with several kinds of Tuna and prefer White Albacore...buy any kind is fine. Going through all the effort, I usually make up a batch with about 4 cans of Tuna....it's great for sandwiches, with crackers or on top of a bed of Romaine Lettuce, etc. I grew up in the deep south so apples in Tuna or Chicken salad was not new.....the Wasabi though....genius and you can fine tune to taste so you taste the Wasabi but not a huge hit like with Sushi, etc. For what it's worth, I have tried Salmon, good too. Tonight I even used fresh rockfish (California fish like Cod or Sea bass) cooked from the night before and fresh corn and it was great. Another suggestion, if you don't want to get peas and corn separately you can use a part bag of the frozen mixed peas, corn, green beans and carrot squares. Once they marinade for a day in the mayo, lemon, vinegar (I use the same vinegar as this video ((white wine)), Italian Dressing for a day the veggies absorb those flavors and blend right in.
The above is just "food for thought" and all the combinations I have tried above all came out great.
@@gabrieln3613 all sounds great!!!!!
I’m not sure about putting the peas in it. Can you taste them at all in it?
@@charlenemack7040 not really - it’s weird, all the ingredients just work together!
I saw this recipe earlier today. She used dried jalapeño crisps...but I am not mad at the potato chip version.
Gonna try the crisps next time but the potato chips were still great!
Oh what a cute kitty! This recipe is crazy. I'd skip the peas. LOL It sure is crunchy.
@@barbarakrall1184 peas were interesting but i liked the recipe as it is!
Would the recipe also work if you semi cook the peas first? I have never ate frozen uncooked peas before.
I'm sure it would but raw peas are also ok to consume, I would imagine the peas would get mushy if you precook them
@@lil_pho4real use the canned peas (drained first). Tastes great!
Fresh peas straight out of the pod are delicious, defrosted should be ok. Canned peas are kinda gross.
@@sheebathefunnyrescuedog692 to each their own. I love me some semi-mushy peas!
I use tuna in water and I drain the tuna juice into a bowl for my cats. They love it!

Just a thought. I haven't made the tuna salad yet but I have most of the ingredients. I had to try the Jalapeno chips... bad mistake. Ate them..... I had an idea for the chips. They are like the French's onions so popular in green bean casserole. I made some green bean casserole and decided to add some of the jalapeno chips. I only mixed them in the serving I had for myself incase it wasn't a good idea. Ohhhh my. It added just a little extra flavor and a little hint of heat. It did not disappoint. I will have them on hand again. I loved them. I cant wIt to try the tuna salad.
I made this plus or minus a few ingredients and realized, it was basically a cold tuna casserole 😂
@@clearyourhead333 😂😂😂 I’ve never had a cold tuna casserole before to make the comparison
Aren’t there apple slices in it? I’m probably wrong.
@@oopurpledove yup there are apple slices, I added them in the video
I feel there should be celery in it
@@chrissanders6819 you can put whatever you want inside!
I think this version is very different which is why it is viral on the internet!!
Those were supposed to be fried jalapeños. Like the fried onions people put on green bean casserole but they're jalapeños.
It was supposed to be jalapeños chips, not potato chips.
I’m seeing lots of people doing this recipe but they are getting the jalapeño chips wrong from my understanding of what Matt actually uses. In Texas we have bags of dried jalapeños “chips”and this is what he uses, not jalapeño flavored *potato* chips. …As others have pointed out tho, he cleans his frig out each week and no guarantee that ALL of those ingredients are used in one batch *but* everyone also goes on about how good it is this way so I’ve grabbed a bag of dried jalapeños and plan to give it a try. I do wish he’d do another cooking video with Ramsey and go over in person how he makes it.
@@eligar7830 completely agree!
Looks so good ... gonna gather these ingredients 😅
I notice you heart and or comment every response. Very kool and inviting! I loved how you drained the canned tuna in a strainer...for added better salad texture try adding a slice or two of toasted bread, combined into very well. I read its an old diner trick.

hello , avocado mayonaisse is healthier from the ldl or hdl measure of cholesterol in your body. the vegetable avocado has the healthy fat in the green to yellow. it has a vegetable oil in it. if you try to boil peach or mango - it does not have oil that comes out of it but the skin of avocado probably made oil in it. there is also two different avocado (haas and regular). the haas is better and the skin is more tough. the haas in markets are sold a little higher. it probably is a different tree never tasted the difference when making it as tomato salad, california roll, or add-in yakiudons. those are pieces of avocado used not the chip dip guess. but healthy fruit in salads. el-
Thanks for the insight!!!!

It definitely is if it’s 100% avocado oil. Which his is. Seed oil is horrible for you. Watch a video on how “vegetable” oils are made. So you need to do some more research.
