I’ve watched a few reviews and as a fan, myself, I agree with what’s been said. I strongly believe Normani’s issues are her rollout for the album as well as her nonexistent personality online.
In this day and age, parasocial relationships are a huge part of celebrity brands. She’s not big enough to pop out of nowhere with an album and sit down. I can understand her hesitance because while she was in 5H there were a lot of racist trolls attacking her online. Me, personally, I’m not into parasocial relationships but I’m not the majority.
When Chloe dropped her freshman album, people were dragging her and closely critiquing the same as they are Normani. Difference is that Chloe put in the work, hunny!! (And this is coming from a Halle stan, as I love her style more and feel Chloe is just another sexy repeat-but I do enjoy a few of her songs.) She had videos, live performances, interaction on Snapchat/tiktok. Thoughts on her album were also a mixed bag but the more she performed, the higher her praises became.
Normani had no visuals. She announced she’d be dropping three months prior and that was it. Even I didn’t run to listen to her album as soon as it dropped.
I’m sure her numbers will slowly climb as the weeks progress. My favorite song on the album is “Insomnia.” Brandy’s vocals are on it 🥰
I agree I think Normani needs to work the album more and the sales will improve. We need visuals, more interviews and performances to get a better feel of the songs. I like the Chloe reference….cant argue that ya girl don’t work hard even if you’re not a fan of the music🤎
Still is still my favorite song. She needs to release that song if she wants this album to do well. Houston will go crazy when they play it on the radio. Add Meg the stallion , Beyoncé, and kentheman on the remix… then Issa banger…. Or a remix with Victoria Monet.
I can’t believe I forgot to mention Still…Still Tipping is a classic and I agree if she could get a good feature that song has potential for sure🤎
She definitely should add Megan to the Remix, since there was a rumor that she was supposed to be a feature on it but it didn't work out, for some reason..Meg would've been a perfect feature but the crazy part is, I think this is one of her least fav songs on the album, which is CRAZY🥴

I'm not familiar w/ KentheMan personally 🤷🏾♂️ But yeah, on her interview on the Terrell show they were talkin' about "Still" and she said she always wanted the sample but she was acting like it wasn't one of her favorites and I was puzzled too, like that's one of the best actually Normani 😂 STILL needs a MV, Idc if it's the final one off DOPAMINE. We NEED it 🎯
The issue I think here is although it is a great body of work, this could’ve been released years ago after Wild Side. people expected more because music has changed even since 2020. If this came out then when Summer and Ari Lennox was also popping back in ‘19-‘20 this album would’ve definitely been up there. Marketing wasn’t great either.
Imo, after teasing and (even unintentionally) having people wait for so many years, she needed more of an album with a lot of bells and whistles. In this album, at first listen her background music was louder than her voice which made her words unable to be understood.
She needs some tweaking but her career will be fine!
Stans are always doing too much, a lot of this stuff comes from Stan beefs. I think another issue is so many expect pop from Normani but she doesn’t want to be pop anymore. It’s okay for her to explore other genres. I’m enjoying the album despite the charts. Insomnia is definitely the best song on the album for me. The production is amazing! Candy Paint, All Yours and Still are also faves. Take my time sounds more poppy and upbeat, I like that one too. I love that she was braggadocious all through this album. 💣

@@CoffeeCuties777 it’s really ridiculous! They’re even pitting her against Chloe when they are friends or at least associates in real life and they’ve supported each other publicly. Stans don’t care about the music, a lot of them just want their fave to chart so they can brag and tear down another artist

Once physicals get released I think it will chart higher. Label really fumbled not having them available upon release. I seems like RCA fails to have physicals upon release for a lot of their artists?
I agree! And I’m not sure what the problem with RCA is but I definitely see the patterns of dropping the ball as well🤎
Ok, here is my opinion. Normai's album is a *FLOP* before you take my head off let's talk everything *AROUND* the album.
First the album is *YEARS* late and is a monotone mellow album where *THIS* current generation want's to shake azz
Two, Normani *ISN'T* as popular as she *ONCE* was do to such a *HUGE* gap in between music. I feel this is the *MAJOR* reason why her album is doing what it's doing
Third, Normani whether she realizes it or not is in a lane where *OTHERS* from her *SAME* genre has been crushing or *STARTING* to crush it now. You have the Tinashe, Cloe, Victoria Monet, Teyana Taylor, and even Camillia. How is Normani suppose to compete with them?
I feel with this weight we have received *ALL* what Normani has to offer *vocally* ask your mother when the last time she heard Normani *belt* .... She has been *INCONSISTANT* for a *WHILE* and should have came back to *DOMINATE* However, it was a little underwhelming. RCA knows that Normai *might* be just hype from her former group status. Now that's she's on her own we hear how she *SOUNDS*

Tbh they do it to everyone, literally everyone especially women in the industry. It's just something that happens, it's a people problem people need to stop bullying artists.

It’s not just “something that happens” this is clearly an indication of her lack of fan support. People love overhyping certain artists even though they know damn well they’re not buying the album

around the time Tinashe had a public struggle with the same label she signed to RCA, Nicki Minaj praised her she collaborated with cardi and she and Nicki unfollowed each other, she was compared to Beyonce lowkey the kiss of death the hive does not play, Tunji who created 'Keep it cool' his joint venture with RCA that she is signed to LEAVES to become CEO of Def Jam, She changes management from S10 entertainment to Good World Management (Charlie XCX and Coco Jones), Both her parents were diagnosed with cancer a year apart. People are saying her budget was spent on Motivation and wildside videos ( i heard she paid for wildside out of pocket) and the 150 songs she professionally recorded and hired writers for. Even if there is no budget, things can be done do promote organically like doing acoustic covers or dance challenges like I have seen other signed artists do or even just getting to know her fans on ig live frequently. But her core fan base is still there when the visuals drop y'all need to push it the way these kpop stans do.

Baby the album sucks, it's too safe. I'm not supporting an artist just cause of their skin tone lol. You sell MUSIC not skin color. The biracials get dragged for flopping too nobody is safe from criticism. Tinashe has been bullied for years for low sales and still does.

I like her music and dancing and because she has my phenotype as well…the album sucking is subjective because to me it was a solid body of work and I agree everyone get a degree of criticism but the Normani outrage has been some of the worse I’ve seen 🤎
Tanisha has a big mouth and is arrogant. So its makes more sense. She also gets large public sympathy and many chances I believe largely because of her passing look. (I actually thought she was white at first vocals and all)
