Great band, criminally underrated, seen them in the UK in 1980.

In case it's not mentioned, This song written by singer Rik Emmett, was a reflection on the lessons taught to him by his Aunt's life as she fought and eventually succumbed to cancer.
    Really good, thoughtful reaction.

Triumph is so underrated in my opinion. The musicianship of each member is top shelf, the vocals are seriously amazing, the lyrics are good, and the arrangement of their songs are outside of traditional rock formula while still being super catchy. I heard these guys in 83 or 84 and was instantly a fan. I don't know how more people aren't aware of them. Rush is my favorite trio out of Canada (hell, anywhere) but these dudes run a close second.
    Nice reaction, and channel!

I was at that concert and 15 years later I am walking down Argyle Street with some friends on a warm summers evening and I could hear Rick doing this song in an acoustic set in The Attic. Super talented and grounded individual.

Lay it on the line- same show. ❤️🎼❤️ the quality guitar and vocal coming from Rik Emmett- that’s genius level skill on both, facts.
Enjoy your journey into rock, you’ve only scratched the surface……also from Canada- Rush. Have fun 🤘😎🔥
They ended the show with this….then an encore. Saw them live in Baltimore, 80’s…didn’t disappoint- and not much tech back then.

@@theonlychrisanddanshow As someone who owns every Triumph album (on vinyl and CD), they have an amazing catalogue but if one song is going to beat this for a 10, it's probably Magic Power. Although if you like vocalists trading off, Follow Your Heart might also be it - written by Rik but Gil (drummer) wanted to sing it so he does most, with Rik helping on the chorus.

Triumph was always a bit different from the hard rock and metal scene in the late 70's/early 80's. While most of those acts had darker/ medieval themes, Triumph leaned towards positive uplifting messages in their music.

Oh and did you know that after this tour Rik Emmett quit the band and taught music at Toronto's Humber college for the next 20yrs??? No?? That's okay, not many people do!! I bought Triumph’s 1981 album, “Fight the Good Fight” and they became my 2nd favorite band (of many) for the time. We went to the US Festival in May of 1983 which was funded by Steve Woz of Apple Computer as they had the just about to be released Mac on display. Woz was selling us on computers. I couldn’t understand what they had to do with the jams!! We saw; Quiet Riot, Motley Crew, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, The Scorpions and Van Halen - Scorps took the show!! They became my new 2nd favorite band. You guys misunderstand that this is usually their encore song so it’s longer than others. Listen to the studio version. Rik Emmet is virtuoso. Btw, Lay it in the line is my favorite Triumph song because of emotions attached to experiences in high school.

I don't like it because it feels like getting up and going up for a drink in the middle of some artist's solo, but it's not the end of the world for me. But it is for guitar players. So just a heads up, that when your channel is bigger, you'll get a ton of grief for pausing on guitar solos. Otherwise, channel seems good. Congrats.

If you like guitar players go back a ways. Terry Kaths Poem 58 from 1969's Chicago Transit Authority. He died in an accident in 1978 right before recording his first solo album. A sample of what might have been was recorded in 1977 with Chicago. It's called Takin It On Uptown. No horns. Check his baritone voice out on this song. A little Joe Cocker and Ray Charles.

Well I have a tune you will either give a 10+ or a 0. It is the Midnight Special Live Version of Focus's Mega Song "Hocus Pocus".
They played a 7 minute song in 4 and 1/2 minutes as that is all the time they had left in the show. Midnight Special was a phenomenon back then. It started at 1230am Saturday Morning and went to 2am. Everything stopped. Universities and College Party's Stop Dead, and everyone put on the show, as then there was no way to see groups except at Concerts.
In the 9 years of the show, this was the only Full Standing Ovation given, and well deserved.
    Subscribed, thanks guys.
