• Triumph - Fight The Go...
For the second time on the channel, we are checking out Triumph with their live performance of their song "Fight The Good Fight" in 1983. This band is absolutely unreal and the more I hear from him, the more I love! Their level of talent is unreal and they are truly technicians out there putting on a clinic! I loved this song and the performance was mind-blowing! I cannot wait to hear more from them! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #triumph #triumphofficial #layitontheline #fightthegoodfight #70smusic #80srock #musicreactions

Triumph is UNBELIEVABLE!! What should I check out next from them?!
@@setonhillstudios magic power is the best
Since you're a drummer, you need to check out Spellbound. It's another phenomenal performance but with Gil Moore (the drummer) on lead vocals.
The drummer sings lead too! Their harmonies are undeniable. Check out Lay It On The Line, Follow Your Heart, Never Surrender so many out there including Somebody's Out There just a killer trio crazy underrated!
They should have been enormous. It's one of the enduring mysteries of our time.
They were thought to be a rip off of rush
@@KenMinor-ek1xs Which is sad, because although they had a few proggy songs, they were mainly just a solid mainstream rock band with inspirational lyrics rather than the party til you drop music that was popular then.
They should’ve been as big as RUSH
@@MrHotrodz69 People are funny, Triumph was huge. They were listed as the second best live acts in the 80's. The only reason they aren't bigger than they were is Rik, himself. At their peak he ventured off into other interests. It caused issues with their label, which I believe when this was filmed they were in a battle with RCA. Still landed this spot at the US Festival. Landing the 3rd headlining spot behind Van Halen and the Scorpions, both at their peak in 83. Ozzy, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions, Van Halen. You didn't land that position if you weren't 'enormous.' It was 84 when Triumph started venturing into other styles of music. Their studio stuff was no longer the arena rockers and became more difficult to replicate live. They weren't the straight forward rockers from their past. Rik had other interests and ventured more into the progressive rock, "during which the band members experienced growing disharmony over business decisions and artistic direction."
@@alexfletcher5192 You had to see them live and you can see and hear why from this show and hear their deeper cuts on their albums. It showed their musicianship more. By the time they got very popular, it was MTV era where it was mostly the poppy stuff that got played on the radio.
Rik Emmet's voice is so killer in this performance!
Another great Canadian band is April Wine . Check out the live version of Roller . You won’t be disappointed . R.I.P. Miles Goodwin . 🤘🏼
Rik wrote this song for an aunt who was diagnosed with cancer.
Any live Triumph cut from the US Festival is top-notch!
Every single song was a banger!
@@RaymondBCrisp yup you got that right - it was their big debut to the US audiences
@@mikewoodrow5878 I actually knew them first from their song, Blinding Light Show. A dj on my local Midwest station liked them, so they got airplay. Being on the longer side, Blinding Light Show was one of their, ahem, 'bathroom songs' they played when they needed to go #2.
💯
Yeah live Triumph is where it's at. Saw them 3 times. US festival was their apex live performance. The whole set is incredible
I was blessed to be there for that blazing hot day, Triumph was, by far, the best band that day...OMG I was 15 then..LOL
You are right. They were true entertainers. Great live.
Triumph, Rush, Kansas, Toto all amazing musicians.
Oh Canada ! :)
Magic Power, Say Goodbye, Allied Forces, Spellbound
Great concert in 1983 with Foghat opening. Never Surrender and Magic Power are bangers.
@Nyxi_Nyx absolutely! Been a Foghat fan from the first album. Triumph as well. Both were fantastic live.
Wow! Great concert!
Yes I saw them on that tour. I unintentionally saw foghat live 3 times lol they opened for blue oyster cult also.
Criminally underrated
I saw them live in ‘84 with Molly Hatchet, incredible show. Listen to Magic Power next! Also check out Zebra, “Tell me what you want “.
Zebra . Great stuff too.
Next to rush ONLY TRIUMPH AND THE WARNING ARE ONLY 3 PIECE BANDS WORTHY NOTING
@@joebarrera9741 The Warning?! Yeah, I guess you’re right. The Police suck 😉
@@patb66 yes zebra very under reacted to. Randy Jackson is a similar duel guitar/vocal threat. "Take your fingers from my hair" "who's behind the door"
Spellbound is a pretty Awesome song,
Their US festival set is one of the greatest, tightest performances you will ever see and hear. The whole set is incredible. Triumph was first and foremost a Live band. Better than studio. I saw them 3 times.
I was there a they stoled the show has down, I have always loved Triumph! They deserved so much more than they got!
Rik Emmett lead guitar, after they retired Rick taught a music course in Ontario college
Never surrender and follow your heart
Triumph stole the show that day at U.S 83 ❤️🔥🎸 May 28th - 30th 1983 San Bernardino Cali. Other acts included
1) Ozzy Osbourne
2) Scorpions
3) Judas Priest
4) Mötley Crüe
5) Quiet Riot
6) Van Halen
The rest of the bands were probably trashed out of their minds, or recovering from the night before. Triumph wasn't about the party scene, so they excelled.
@@RaymondBCrispyes. Triumph were pros. They knew this was their moment. Several bands were fd up that day. Van Halen def. Sloppy and wasted. Judas priest had a great set though. Def check that out
Let's Gooooo. As a Canadian I freaking love Triumph. Please check out April Wine...Roller. Canadians may be polite but we know hockey and we know how to rock out 😂Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Yes! He definitely should check out April Wine and Roller is a killer place to start ✌️
🇨🇦 Triumph was “the other power trio” from Canada that delivered a positive message inside killer power rock. This ‘83 US Festival performance is legendary. Triumph absolutely stole the day
Gil Moore, drummer also sings lead too
Yes! Different rock blues kinda style. His singing on "when the lights go down" from this show is awesome.
Magic Power!!!
Magic Power is a must!
Wore this 8 track out in High School, you can Google 8 Track Tape lol
It's on my turntable now, Allied Forces. I don't loan it out.
My favorite Triumph tune! Magic Power should be the next one you react to.
Follow your heart!!!!
All of their albums with Rik are great. The drummer also sings lead on some songs.
Massive band! Gotta listen to "Magic Power"!
I second this recommendation. 😊
Do it from this show. Live triumph is just better.
TORONTO ROCKS!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻RUSH and! TRIUMPH 😂😂
Magic Power, Follow Your Heart
I’m going to show my age but I was there for 3 days at this festival and Triumph stole the show that day. I kind of wish I was there again watching this. It was stupid hot though.
Follow youre heart, world of fantasy, I can survive
Magic power!
Follow your Heart with Gil Moore singing is a great Triumph song.
Great reaction Steven! If you wanna hear a Triumph song that will blow the roof off, check out Rock n Roll Machine. Then you better hang on for the ride!!
I agree. Steven needs to hear a Gil Moore sung song next. And Rock and Roll Machine is a perfect choice. Another good song would be I Live for the Weekend.
Appreciate it and thanks for the suggestions! This definitely blew me away! 🤘🏻
The studio version of "Never Surrender" from Triumph is excellent. Rik really hits the high notes, but you have to listen.
•Lead vocals/ Guitars - Rik Emmet
•Bass Guitar & sometimes vocals - Mike Levine
•Drums & (sometimes) Lead vocals - Gil Moore
Was so happy as a kid to have another Canadian trio to cheer for; Where Rush was more English hard rock, Triumph brought more of the American hard rock. Love Gil Moore's style and he has a great bluesy rock voice. "When the Lights Go Down," "Spellbound," and "Rocky Mountain Way," (cover), are just some of the "Gil" songs I love.
@@DaveSumner68 Gil's "when the lights go down" from this show kicks ass!
Power trio. I love it!!
Magic power
Any song from this concert is a must. It's the best sounding live recording i've ever heard!
@@dailyprognosisnick agree. Gil moore the drummer owns metalworks studio and bassist Mike Levine produced also so they knew how to record this right. Much better than the other bands that day did. Triumph remastered this yrs later too. Smart
I LOVE Triumph my fellow Canadians!! Their music touched my heart so many years ago and helped me get through so many rough times.. I love Rik Emmett's heart in his music and he is such a phenomenal and gifted singer/songwriter/musician!!! Gill Moore on drums and vocals as well, he was so absolutely gifted, and Mike Levine on Bass and Keyboard, they just ROCKED!! Some of my favorite songs are this one being my favorite "Fight the Good Fight", "Hold On", "Follow Your Heart", "Magic Power", "Lay it on the Line". Rik Emmett is still going strong and he is so awesome to watch on his YT channel here talking about how he created the riffs and songwriting etc. So AWESOME!!!
Used to love seeing RUSH, TRIUMPH and MAX WEBSTER back on the old high school circuit in Southern Ontario.
Magic Power is a banger as well, or check out their song Hold On.
Another great band I had never heard of! Great performance, great song
Excellent reaction. Next should be "Magic Power" from this same concert.
Follow Your Heart.
been a fan since mid 70s when they played our high school.
Next = "Nature's Child"
Triumph is the "other" Canadian rock trio. An absolute incredible band in their own right.
One of my favorite bands of all time! Rik Emmett is a genius!
Day On The Green Oakland Calif July 1983!!! Triumph blew it away!! They were fire!
As a fellow drummer I approve of this selection.
Rik Emmett - guitar, lead vocals, Gil Moore - drums, lead vocals, Mike Levine - bass, keyboards. Check out "24 Hours a Day", "Rock and Roll Machine live 1983 US festival", "Hold On", "American Girls", "I Can Survive", "I Live for the Weekend", "Allied Forces Live 1983 US festival, "Magic Power Live 1983 US festival", "When the Lights Go Down", "Never Surrender", "Spellbound", "Follow Your Heart", "Somebody's Out There" - enjoy!!!
Love Triumph....Ordinary Man from Allied Forces. Great album.
Magic Power, Allied Forces, Ordinary Man.
Triumph had so many great songs, it's hard to pick just one, but one of my all time favorites of theirs is a deep track called Ordinary Man. It's filled with tempo changes and awesome guitar work. They also had some great popular songs like Allied Forces, Never Surrender, Spellbound, Magic Power, Just A Game, When The Lights Go Down, Follow Your Heart, and Rock 'N' Roll Machine, just to name a few. They were very much like Rush because they were a 3 piece Canadian band, except they were more straightforward hard rock, whereas Rush was more prog rock.
I saw them in the summer of “82. They were fantastic. At their peak.
Triumph are my buddy long time
Canada, we're a small population in a big land, we all grow up having multiple skillsets 😁
You'll have to try Follow Your Heart. If I remember correctly, the drummer solos on that one.
Oh snap! Definitely have to check that out! Appreciate it!
🇬🇧
This makes me want to be a Drummer 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
That was an amazing setup the Drummer had. 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
@@kimcutts6153 Such a cool setup indeed! It’s never too late!!! 😄🥁
Gil Moore was one of the first guys to use Drum Triggers. If you listen to his rolling tom fills you can hear it clearly. And the Bass Drum during the Solo.
Lucky enough to see them twice growing up, and saw Rush 5 times. Two amazing bands to have seen live.
Mike Levine is why I had to get a Fender Jazz Bass!! "Nature's Child" live from Baltimore....
Glad I got to see them live once.still a memorable concert
Never heard this one..Great track🤘
Gives ya goose bumps EH! Right On.....
Triumph was unreal. Hard rock with a positive message and 3 incredibly talented musicians. I am honored to know all 3!
I got to see 👀 Triumph when they were touring for the Allied Forces album.
I bet that was EPIC!! 🔥
I remember getting my first cassette tape and it was Allied Forces back in the day! Triumph just simply kicks ass!!
rush and triumph both Canadian three piece
Inspiring lyrics.
Magic power from this same concert is fabulous
I saw them in the Bars in the Hamilton Ontario back when they started and were touring their first record . I have all their records and the singers solo records .He is still playing music and performing live
I’ve seen Triumph several times in concert and they sounds amazing every time!! Check out Magic Power next!
I saw Triumph several times in the late 70s, early 80s. 3, maybe 4 times. Twice I saw them share the bill with The Rockets, who had a couple BIG radio hits.
The Power Trio City
Do "Rock & Roll Machine" from the US Festival too. The drummer sings.
Rik wrote this song with his mom's battle with cancer in mind. It seems like every one of their songs had a positive message; rare back then, almost unheard of today.
Triumph still raises those neck hairs after all these years.
Was actually inspired by his aunt who was dying of cancer.
Magic power , Never Surrender , Spellbound , oh man too many !
Funny when I was in college from 78-82 my then GF loved them. Went along for the ride for obvious reasons. So many cool bands were around then.
Triumph, Rush and many other Canadian Acts cut their teeth playing high schools in the early- to mid- 70s. There was a thriving circuit of HS events bands could play--usually starting out as cover bands and slipping in more original content as they went. I am a couple years too young but my friends and I all have older siblings who can say "I saw saw Rush/Triumph/Saga/Guess Who....they played my high school in 1973."
Triumph's drummer, Gil Moore, also sings. You should check out "Tears in the Rain" (Live in HALIFAX)
I love his drums! They sound so deep, like Roger Taylor on Queen Jazz album.
No doubt! Such a killer tone! 🥁
🤘🏾😎🤘🏾
The Blinding Light Show - early
Magic Power
Rock N Roll Machine
World of Fantasy
Allied Forces
I know they were big in Canada, but it just doesn't make sense that they weren't a worldwide phenomenon.
Song called Magic power is awesome
The drummer is Gil Moore, who also sings lead on several of their songs. He's got a great rock n' roll voice, but he's in a band with Rik Emmet, so who can compare to that? Gil also owns Metalworks, which (I think) is the largest recording studio in Canada. That's probably why his drums sound so good.
Rush and more rush
The drummer is a great sinnger/songwriter in his own right. I rarely, if ever, see anyone react to the Triumph songs where he does the primary vocals. Give Gill some love,
I will leave it up to the other commenters to recommend a track.
"Spellbound" is the only one that I can think off that has a video.
😊🎶💜 Saw Triumph live in 1982 and they were AWESOME!! 38 Special (Hold on Losely) was also great!! 💜🎶😊
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! 😁
@@setonhillstudios 🎶😊💜 You're most welcome!! Quarterflash was good too!! 🎶😊💜
Thanks so much! Triumph is one of those bands I was aware of but had never really listened to. I'm going down that rabbit hole now!
Love Triumph ! So underrated band. Just a game, Never Surrender, world of Fantasy & much much more ❤
Have a peek at Rik Emmet live at Daryl's Place. He's probably pushing 60 when it was done. The tune, "Magic Power". No drums but still absolutely beautiful. His voice hasn't changed from when he was this age here or 30-40 years later.
I saw Triumph several times in the 70s alone, and I absolutely believe they were a better to watch live band than Rush. (If you are comparing Canadian trios). Triumph was always under appreciated. You will love their songs “Hold On”, “Just a Game” & “ Blinding Light Show”
Might want to give a listen to April Wine. Another rocking Canadian band of the same era.
Please listen to Play With The Fire….also the entire Thunder 7 album….brilliant
Great band period!!! One of Canada's finest. My favourite album is progessions of power from 1980. Check out I Can Survive from it! Gil Moore the drummer is on lead vocal.
This is my all time favorite song ,,,,great message! Rik Emmet rules dam we had great music in out days , Mile L on bass and Gil on drums in total rhythm/ sync. Professional Musicianship at its highest level.
