This is a classic! Pay no attention to the haters! Miserable people just want to make everyone around them miserable as well, and those people definitely need to take a step back and re-evaluate their lives! They're definitely not worth ur time! Keep on keepin' on! 🤘

This is “the other” Canadian power trio. I grew up in Western NY, so we got a lot of Canadian content. These guys and Rush were always knob twisters to crank up.
I got to see Rik do a jazz gig about twenty years after Triumph. Him and a side man doing electric and acoustic guitar. He was humble enough to let the side man take all the hot licks because he knows who he’s Rik Emmitt. He did a three song set of Triumph songs in an acoustic and destroyed it. Absolutely amazing show and performer.

Thank you so much for checking up Triumph. I'm Canadian and these guys were along with Rush and Saga the music of my teenage years. The singer is Rik Emmett. But wait, the drummer, Gil Moore also sings and has a fantastic voice as well. Mike Levine, bass, is highly regarded as one hell of a player. All in all it's a fantastic band that should've been a lot more popular.

"Lay it on the line" and "Hold on" became huge radio hits from the 3rd Triumph album 'Just a game' in 1979... and it became their first gold album (half million copies sold) in the US in 1979... Triumph was already huge in their native Canada.
Formed in Canada in the mid-70's, Triumph was a rock trio that sounded very similar to their Canadian counterparts Rush, but had more of an arena rock sound (Rush was more progressive rock) ... Triumph was: Rik Emmett (vocals & guitar), Gil Moore (vocals & drums) and Mike Levine (bass & keyboards) ... Both Emmett and Moore sang lead and like Geddy Lee of Rush, Levine played both bass and keyboards in Triumph.
Their first self-titled album 'Triumph' was released in 1976 but was not a hit... 2nd album 'Rock & roll machine' in 1977 became a hit in Canada.
3rd album 'Just a game' was a hit and a gold album in the US in 1979 ... but the 4th album 'Progressions of power' in 1980 was a disappointment.
Triumph had their biggest-selling (5th) record in 1981 - 'Allied Forces'... a platinum hit (1 million copies) in the US w/ the hits: 'Fight the good fight'... 'Magic power'... 6th album 'Never surrender' in 1983 sold gold in the US w/ the singles - 'All the way'... 'A world of fantasy'.
7th album 'Thunder Seven' was another gold selling success in the US in 1984 w/ the single 'Follow your heart'...
For whatever reason, Triumph went for a more commercial 8th album in 1986 - 'The sport of kings' ... and had a commercial top 40 single "Somebody's out there"... but album sales were lower. Working on 9th album 'Surveillance' in 1987, creative tensions between Rik Emmett and the others led to the guitarist leaving Triumph for a solo career in 1988 after the album failed commercially.
Gil Moore and Mike Levine hired Phil X (guitar) w/ Moore doing all the vocals for their 10th and final album 'Edge of excess' in 1992. It failed commercially and Triumph broke up... Years later, guitarist Phil X joined Bon Jovi in 2013 after original guitarist Richie Sambora quit the band.
The original Triumph (Emmett/ Moore/ Levine) reunited to play their final shows together in 2008... the same year Triumph was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame.
In 2021, Triumph released a documentary movie on their career - "Triumph: Rock and roll machine"... They have declined to perform together again (Only partially for the movie)

First time I saw them they were just starting out. One room schoolhouse just north of Toronto. Whole town was there for a communal Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner Triumph set up and blew the roof off. This was back in the 70s.
