Thanks for sharing. I changed to plants in the lead up to my 50th. 6 mo now. Totally changed my life for the better too. If only we knew before how easy and fun it would be. Best wishes.
Thanks for the GOOD cry!!! Been plant based for a couple months and got off all meds and look and feel so much better in such little time! Continued health and happiness to you and your wife, you look fantastic!!!!!
Hi. I am beginning (again) my journey on a plant-based vegan diet at age 53. I saw something you posted on a facebook page today that led me to your youtube page. . I tried a raw vegan diet about 3 years ago and gave up on it because I was always crazy hungry, no matter how much I ate. I see the value there and I felt amazing energy but never felt satisfied. Two months ago I being eating a plant based vegan diet (HCLF) and have seen some incredible results so far. Within 2 weeks my fasting blood sugar readings were in the 90's and have remained there. I have loads of energy and have lost 12 pounds. I have allowed myself too many of what you call "loopholes" or I may have lost more...anyway, my focus is on long-term success and eating this way for life, because my life really does depend on it. I bought an indoor recumbent bike and have been riding that 3 miles a day, most days in addition to walks/easy hikes with my daughter. I have a long road ahead to reach a "normal weight" and this way of eating is the first that I've have found that feels sustainable to me. I feel full AND satisfied eating this way. I really enjoy what I'm eating and the energy it gives me. Thanks for telling your story and for the other content here that I am yet to watch. it has encouraged me today and I know it will be a valuable resource in the weeks, months and years to come.
YOU are amazing. Yes God helped you so much! What an inspiration you are to me. I am beginning my journey. Thank you for sharing your story. I truly appreciate it. You look amazing!
My husband and I decided to go Plant Based about 2 months ago. I've already "lost" 20lbs or so, he "lost" some, he's had to punch a new hole in his belt and he's losing his butt. hehe. We, too are looking forward to the adventures together. Our boys are teenagers and spend time doing whatever it is teen boys do, lol. We've waited 22 years for now. We are taking care of ourselves. It's amazing how out of control we can let things get when you are raising a family, working 8-5, rushing, rushing.....we forget to look around, stop, enjoy. I can't even tell you how happy I am for you both. It's very moving for me to see such success in two people so similar to us. Ok, I'm rambling, lol. Enjoy your Veggies....🍅🍆🍌🍓🥝🥕🌽🌶🍋🥑🍊
I have just discovered this by accident...are you still following a plant based diet? how did you find it? what types of food did you eat? did your weight stay off?
I just started this journey 2weeks ago and I've been fat and skinny on and off my whole life . I understand the struggle of food addiction and quantity issues . Just started having health issues that won't go away . In enough pain to make this change finally . Just want to be well mentally and physically , so that my husband and I can enjoy our life . Been too exhausted and numb for literally 20 years now. Just want hope ...
In my mid fifties with a pile of health issues, I never thought i could get significantly healthier. Today at 62, I can say all the issues are history and I've got a couple of century rides on my log too. Great video, love these stories.
Just amazing, both of you. I have to tell you that seeing your story brought tears to my eyes because I can truly identify with the struggles that you had when you were over weight. I can identify because that's my life today. Thanks to you both for the inspiration!
Looks like I'm about a year late to the party, but still gonna comment. Because I believed that it was the starches making me fat I could never stay on a plant based diet, and have nearly killed myself, but I have discovered differently. I believe it's the meat and dairy making us fat AND KILLING US. I have been vegan as much as possible for the last three months and have lost not a lot of weight, but some, and I feel a lot better . It may take a while for me, but I believe it will be steady and have somewhat of a snowball effect. I will hit 60 in a few months , I'm hoping for a decade or two, or maybe even three of good health in my future.
Thank you sooooo much for your encouraging words!!! You're an amazing inspiration to me. God bless you & your beautiful family. Much love from Kingston JAMAICA 😚 💖 💖 💖
Hey! I'll be the first to comment...well done!! 1. Glad to see you riding a bike! 2. That ankle sprain looked painful! 3. The mountains looked beautiful! Wish I could get out for more hikes like that! 4. It's great to see you and your wife do this together. Hope to speak to you soon. -Ian-
Congratulations on regaining your health and energy! Well done! Wish I could get my folks to do the same :/ You and your wife are absolutely adorable! Enjoy every moment!
Awesome work and super inspiring!! I'm curious if through adopting a plant based diet what your thoughts are on the ethical standpoint of veganism? You still fish?
I saw your vid on Dr McDougall's facebook page and had to come watch the vid. They tell those of us with Ehlers Danlos and diabetes that there is no cure. Like you I changed my evil ways! LOL 66lbs down and counting! My doc told me I would require diabetes meds for life. I said no, I am going to fix this. My numbers are within reason for someone on meds. I walk now, with a hiking backpack as much as possible (only 15lbs at this point but that is going to get better) , or I bring and empty backpack and haul home groceries in it. Today I added on a few mins of resistance training. I am on my way away from disability, pain and heading to health. The long term goal is hiking. This year if it is only hiking into a campsite a short distance, then THAT is a major improvement. One win at a time! Thanks for putting this vid out! So do you have any tips for hiking food? I have been using my dehydrator to make up meals. :)
that is so awesome!!!! way to go!. so for hiking I usually use peanuts and raisins just because they are so portable. Usually that's a yellow light food for me in normal life because of the fat and calorie content.
wow wot a great video watching you n spud fit is starting to turn my life around at 51yo.thank you mate. can wait to read your web page, facebook and watching all you videos. best regards Adam
Wow wonderful!!!!!! :-) Me & My Hubby want to participate in the Marathon 10K, 5_7K is max we have walked or jogged,we're bit doubtful about 10K like finishing? or too late & everybody has left already? Pls shed some light on the same.25 day's to go.We're Vegan. Not raw vegan.51 & 50 aged couple. Thanks You made my day Bright and beautiful.
Depends on how long you've been vegan and what state your body is into. Pain means acidosis on the body. Also depends on what kind of Vegan you are. If you are a junk food vegan, acidosis wont go away. Only one way to fix it. By Turning the body more Alkaline. Fresh Fruit is the best Alkalizer. You should probably look into detoxifying your body at first, with fasting, or juices and herbs.(or maybe you can go more slowly with it, by eating less, but more Alkaline food for some time) Also are your kidneys filtering correctly, and do you absorb all the nutrients that you take? Those are some questions you have to look into... If you have malabsorption of nutrients, there is not much good done, even if youre eating correctly. Good Luck there. It can take some time to bring the body is balance , depending on the damage thats been done. But dont get discouraged. Just my 2 cents.
I was advised not to talk about "losing" weight. When you lose something you generally try to find it again AND you usually lose it by accident. Talk about getting rid of lbs or kilos... then you're the one in charge, and that weight is GONE forever. you're not going to go looking for it, you don't want it anymore. I like the idea.
What an inspiration to so many who feel like there is no hope. Congratulations to you and your family.
Wow, you and your wife look fabulous!! I congratulate you both for taking your lives into your own hands by eating right (plant based) and exercising!
Thanks for sharing. I changed to plants in the lead up to my 50th. 6 mo now. Totally changed my life for the better too. If only we knew before how easy and fun it would be. Best wishes.

Awesome job brother!
GOOD Job brother.
You say you kept moving forward. I want to know how you dealt with pain. I have so much pain it keeps me sedentary. I am vegan but moving sucks.
Depends on how long you've been vegan and what state your body is into.
