Whoever came up with this plastic dip paint idea is a genius. Great quality product to make life easier especially to all the fellow DIYers. Kudos to him.
sir, you should be giving talks and seminars around teaching your craft; you are such an incredibly talented, methodic and patience dude; your vids are AWESOME.
I absolutely LOVE how many videos and tutorials you make for this product. I'm dipping my wheels and emblems on my Jeep Patriot soon and thanks to these, I feel super confident. Thanks so much!
@@DonovanMariano It faded over time on my emblems, I ended up getting new rims instead of dipping. It held up well to weather and everything but I don't think it should be expected to last a terribly long time. Good luck if you do it!
I got 5 more hp for doing my emblems but when I did the wheels it took 3 away so I'm only 2hp more than I was. The dip on wheels grabs more wind an slows you down.
it doesnt add any......it loses hp because the chrome reflects wind which makes it more areodynamic, the black absorbs so it slows down the car and creates drag.
+Tommy Le I get what you're saying.. makes sense.. unless you put the clear coat over it make it glossy like my friend did to his BMW and it's got 4 more HP now.
Hi fonsie im steve & I live in the u.k I was going to spray paint my jeep wheels then I saw your vids on plasti dip so I ordered wat I needed & its here today so ill send you pix when there done im so glad I found out about plasti dip im going to do plastic trim & grill on my bmw e34 aswell thanks so much for your vids wish you all the success in your business
How would you do this to an already dipped car? When you are done dipping the emblems and it's time to peel away, would you also peel away the outer areas of the car that has already been dipped?
i like the videos. ive used plastidip on all my cars since i was indrotuced to it. love using it. love the freedom it gives to change whenever you want. i have a question though. i noticed in the peel off portion the letter were showing chrome on the edges where it meets the car. but then the final walk around they are perfect. did you do another couple coats with the camera off?
so if you're doing a whole car including the emblems, would you dip the body of the car first and then do the emblems after the body dries? or vice versa?
Do emblems first cause they'll be easier to mask, plus if you are trying to do it the way he does you will remove the base layer also(the dip you put on the car
If your coloring your chrome on the back of your car, how would you handle the key access in the back (say for trunks or hatchbacks)? Wouldn't using a key tear or loosen the dip?
For people who think plasti dip isn't durable, I've had the badges on my car (front and back) plasti dipped for almost 3 years and I haven't had one problem with them. No lifting or chipping or anything. I'm very surprised that the front has held up so well to rock chips and salt and everything.
Any tips or tricks for Plasti Dipping chrome bumpers for better adhesion? Especially the front bumper of trucks. Great video. Thank you for posting a professional video on how to do Plasti Dip right the first time.
This is cool. I always assumed you needed to remove the emblems for this, but depending on the situation (such as lettering or really anything that's not already falling off), people might not want to do that.
Usually How long does it last before you need to re-spray? and Overtime with different weather conditions such as rain or heat, will it eventually start to come off or peel off?
the can says 20-30 mins between coats, and 4 hours to completely dry afterward. I would say at bare minimum do 15 mins between coats and let it dry 1 hour after your final coat, as he mentioned if it doesn't dry completely you won't get a good peel on it and it will just be more of a pain to peel off. I followed the instruction on the can of 30 mins between coats and 4 hours to dry and had no issues EXCEPT i didn't mask off around for overspray and had some i needed to wipe off which wasn't that bad. I would definitely recommend the overspray even if you are doing it inside as you will get more overspray than you think even if you are just trying to spray in the boxed off spraying area as i did..
Just did the trim, emblems and hood scoop on my 2013 Ralliart. It turned out great and the videos sure helped a lot! It was easy, inexpensive and fun! Rarely do products match up to the hype but Plasti Dip really delivers! Looks awesome, works awesome! Thanks Fonzie, everyone is commenting on how sick my car looks and I couldn't be happier!
You guys are absolutely incredible! Can’t wait to start doing this for my customers. Just wondering what would be the retail cost to charge for blacking out someone’s emblems or grille? Trying to figure out a pricing structure for all this plasti dip stuff
I just finished painting my grills, I didn't follow a lot of these tricks like protecting my radiator and waiting a day after cleaning for it to dry (keep in mind I only cleaned it with soapy water and a towel to dry and I took my time drying to insure) but nonetheless this video was very informative. Definitely will keep this mind for the future when I plasti dip my spoiler dip and the infiniti sign.
I like this. Quick question though maybe someone could help me out. If I have little chips and dents from rocks will the plastidip fill it in to a smooth look with enough coats?
after the 6 or so coats and dried completely can you add the glossifier straight on to the plastidip ? and how long do you leave it on for ? most of the videos are all matte black ! 🤔 thanks in advance.
Another nice and informative tutorial. Thanks a lot.Question:It seem that i cant find any reseller in EU that have the Anthrasit Grey rim/Wheel kit in their shop online shops. Also its not possible to buy it online from USA ? Any solution for that ?Thank you in advance.RegardsTonny M Nielsen, Denmark
How well does this stuff hold up to car washing? It seems if it’s that easy to peel off then washing must eventually peel it up. What. about pressure washing? Has anyone who has done this had experience with washing their car afterward?
How long does the product usually lasts for front grills? Give the about of wear and tear of debris and foreign objects that hit your front grill while driving does the plasti dip usually last before needed replacement? Months? Years? Almost a decade?
Easy! Make sure you apply DipCoat Protective Spray every week or two. Keeps it looking fresh and clean, and keeps it feeling slick. It's a must-have for dipped surfaces.
Tires need tire shine, wheels need wheel cleaners, cars need wax - dip needing DipCoat a couple times a month isn't a lot to ask. If you're willing to put the work and time into dipping your car, it's also worth putting the time into maintaining it. DipCoat is our top selling accessory, once you try it you will understand.
+DipYourCar i misunderstood, the spray is like a wax. I thought I was gonna have to prepare the car and do it over and over again. I saw a video where that spray makes the dip look shiny, if I'm going for the matte flat look, will that same spray work for me?
Used PlastiDip for the first time today on my Ford Ranger. Watched a few demo videos and the product worked exactly as promised! If anyone complains it doesn't work, they didn't follow the instruction!!!!
would have liked to have seen how he got inside the Infiniti emblem....about 90% of cars have hollow emblems so how do you get to that plasti inside it
sk8punk318 Lol yeah I did actually do it last year before winter probably right after this video was uploaded, but I did peel it off because I didn't spray it when it was warm enough so it kind of bubbled out and came out as a rougher surface
For taking off the excess dip around the trunk emblem and letters… how is it not pulling it off the emblem and letters while pulling the excess up? I am just curious on why it comes off the car so easily but not the letters/emblem? Thanks!
I gotta say I love this product I just dipped my rims last night for the first time, I did everything you said and they came out nice and smooth had some troubles but like I said it was my first time and I love how it came out and people are asking me to do theirs as well so I wanna say thanks!!
Not sure what happened but the dip ripped off some of my paint. After peeling i looked at it and there was green (my car color) on the contact side of the dip. ??? I did 3 coats just as you did, 6-8 inches away, started spraying on the masked area of my car. I highly doubt it is weak clear coat because my dad and I redid it all over the winter.
How long does it last ? Will it start to come off if you take your car through the car wash on the regular basis? What about when you just wash your car yourself with a brush or a rag won’t it start to rub off?
I'm about to blackout my grille, but I have a small spot where the original paint is chipped. What's the best way to proceed? Sand the spot and prime? Just put a couple extra coats on the grille and hope it blends? It's not a deep spot, but I would prefer not to have a "dent" in the dip.
I've almost decided to complete the black-out of my new Tacoma with this product. It's metallic silver with mostly black trim, and the chrome emblems/grille/rear bumper corners are bugging me. This seems like the perfect solution.
+DEEZ Nuts thats funny because at 1:30 there is a thermometer on the wall and im pretty sure it says 54 degrees. but if you are spraying when its colder, put the plastidip in a bucket of warm water for a while then shake the hell out of it before spraying and it comes out nice and fine.
+DEEZ Nuts I did mine on a hot day no issue. Black + glossifier came out nice. One side was getting sun near end so the dip was really kind of sticky after 25mins still so I pulled the other side then turned car around and blew some cool air over it (not on it) let it sit another 5 mins and pulled no issues. I had small letters still no isssue.
would it better to follow this video for this task or would the other video on this channel showing how to do this ? i ask because this video says 6-7 coats and the other i had watched said that there were 4 total coats
can this same process of masking, over-spraying the area, then peeling around the emblem be used if the car's body is plasti dipped? or will that pull off the body plasti dip?
What did you use to cover the back up camera lens? did you cut it out? or just eye it and put a piece of tape over it? will it peel clean off the camera lens? about to attempt this tut on a g37x sport coupe :P thx man!
awesome video! My question to you, however, is: Can the plastidip be removed from a car grill several years later if you decide you want the chrome look back or you want to sell the car in original condition? Thank you!
you think I can get away doing this in the garage winter time in michigan? what do u think of a heat gun to speed up the drying process or should I wait for spring time?
hello! completely new to this. at fhe beginning you said abiuf 6 or 7 coats minimum but it looked like you only put maybe two or three coats? also what is the Color and name of all the plasti dip coats you used on you S6 rims?
If I want to use the glossifier on my emblems, is the process the same? Will the dip still peel nice and easy around the contours of the logo after using the glossifier?
Tried to do this for my nissan altima regarding the lettering on the back. Didn't work for me so I just took the letters off first and then sprayed them. After that I put them back on the car. Ditto for the Nissan emblem on the grille. I could never get it just right and perfect using this method.
Jacob Hundt Volkswagen Golf GTE, its pearl black, and I've dipped the rim edges blue same as the break callipers and the lines in the grill. Looks AWESOME!
I did this to my Q60 grill, which is the same exact one as in the video. I removed the grill. It was probably less work than taping everything off and then taking the cover off to protect the radiator
+Tommy Wikstrom I've never dipped before so I'm hardly an expert.. that being said, I really don't get how it can be so difficult to figure out. Simply paint the car, including the emblems, and then peel the plasti dip off the emblems? Or mask it and then paint it as shown in this video.. just use your fucking imagination for christs sake - or is he supposed to show you how to jerk off as well?
Just followed this tutorial and am very happy with the results! My issue, there's a slight haze that was left after the plasti dip was peeled and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it off. Buffing with a micro fiber towel is getting me nowhere. Any tips?
What color was your car out of curiosity? I’m about to dip my emblems and my car is black and I’m worried about something like that too. If I breath on my black paint it scratches it so I don’t need to be trying to run anything out lol
The car was white, the emblems were red. It left a slight pink haze that eventually went away on its own. I doubt you’d have anything to worry about on a black car!
What is the best glossifier to use? I have tried the plastic up glossifier and found out it did not have that glossy sheen to the finished product. Any suggestions?
So I added this comment to your most recent video in hoping you will see it but I want to put it on here as well considering my question relates directly to this. So I have just recently started watching these videos and Im really interested and excited to start dipping on my own. One question I have right now is I see in a lot of the videos that you spray right over the emblems of cars and they don't look taped/masked off and then in the final shots the emblems are not dipped but instead are in the standard chrome. Ive watched your video on spraying emblems and and I see you can just peel it away? do you ever run into the bridging problem on the emblems. To me (who has never done this before) it just seems like it would be all to easy to be peeling the dip off of the emblem but then it start taking the dip on the surface of the car with as you do it. Obviously I would use extremely care and go slow while peeling it off but do you ever run into that problem I described or is does it always just peel away with simply ease?
Is it possible for the chrome grille finish to came off when we peel off the Plastidip after lets say about one year? Because one of my friend buy some kind of plastidip (Peelable paint, but I'm not sure wether it's Plastidip or not) and apply it to his car grille and when he peel the paint off, some of the original chrome finish of the grille came off with the peelable paint.
Whoever came up with this plastic dip paint idea is a genius. Great quality product to make life easier especially to all the fellow DIYers. Kudos to him.

How did it go? Thinking of doing my car.
@@DonovanMariano It faded over time on my emblems, I ended up getting new rims instead of dipping. It held up well to weather and everything but I don't think it should be expected to last a terribly long time. Good luck if you do it!
@rvidal0001 Thank you! :)
How long did it last
Hey Kristina, I'd love to see your rims you did. I want to do mine purple 💜
Thanks
Can you dip over chrome bumpers and will they last long?
How much HP does this add to your car?
About 200, but that's for black plastidip, i'm not sure about other colors though.
I got 5 more hp for doing my emblems but when I did the wheels it took 3 away so I'm only 2hp more than I was. The dip on wheels grabs more wind an slows you down.
+David Covarrubias
Red plasti-dip gives it 375HP
it doesnt add any......it loses hp because the chrome reflects wind which makes it more areodynamic, the black absorbs so it slows down the car and creates drag.

I'm gonna assume you covered the backup camera lens, even though you didn't say so.
Can't see that he did. Now I see it..he did hehe
There's painters tape over the lens
do you not have fucking common sense... karen
Good reminder for people doing this tho
Thanks

ahah agreed
Step 1: Dip your biceps
Step 2: dip your balls and follow quagmires arm routine for both arms
Step 3: dip your gym
Great tips
I love this video, but I really wish you had show how you grab the dip inside the center of the circle on the logo.

how long should you wait between coats?
I like it... gonna try that on my truck... I don’t think there was cuz he’s doing this good but hope there wasn’t a backup cam on the spoiler
Hello from Spain, I follow all your works and they are excellent, did you may subtitularlos in Spanish? Thank you
How long did you wait in between coats? In Colorado so, it’s a bit cooler this time of year.
How long does the product usually lasts for front grills? Give the about of wear and tear of debris and foreign objects that hit your front grill while driving does the plasti dip usually last before needed replacement? Months? Years? Almost a decade?
so my question is how do you keep your dip looking fresh over time
Easy! Make sure you apply DipCoat Protective Spray every week or two. Keeps it looking fresh and clean, and keeps it feeling slick. It's a must-have for dipped surfaces.
+DipYourCar so dip every week or 2?... pass
Tires need tire shine, wheels need wheel cleaners, cars need wax - dip needing DipCoat a couple times a month isn't a lot to ask. Yes it will certainly work for you. It adds just a bit of sheen but only enough to make it look clean.. it won't add an artificial "gloss" finish.
Used PlastiDip for the first time today on my Ford Ranger. Watched a few demo videos and the product worked exactly as promised! If anyone complains it doesn't work, they didn't follow the instruction!!!!
Hi! may i know how many layers should i be spraying for optimal results pls?
would have liked to have seen how he got inside the Infiniti emblem....about 90% of cars have hollow emblems so how do you get to that plasti inside it
Great video. I was hoping you showed how you got the plastidip out from inside the Infiniti logo
toothpick or a pointy plastic tool like he had.
Hi just wondering if you've done a bmw emblem yet? I wanted to change the blue to purple, any ideas would be great. Even better if you did a video 😉☺
Nice to see a v36 sedan on dyc
+SovietSpetsnazi I got a v35! I wish he would do one of a v35 sedan even if it was the same emerald mist as mine.
+urmastertech just take the grill out its super ez
sk8punk318 Lol yeah I did actually do it last year before winter probably right after this video was uploaded, but I did peel it off because I didn't spray it when it was warm enough so it kind of bubbled out and came out as a rougher surface
i just put that paint on the hood of my freightliner cascadia.we will see how it sticks
How would you mask it off if you are painting the car a different color?
For taking off the excess dip around the trunk emblem and letters… how is it not pulling it off the emblem and letters while pulling the excess up? I am just curious on why it comes off the car so easily but not the letters/emblem? Thanks!
How would you plastic dip stamped letters? Like the super duty stamped on the hood and tail gate of ford f250 and 350?
I gotta say I love this product I just dipped my rims last night for the first time, I did everything you said and they came out nice and smooth had some troubles but like I said it was my first time and I love how it came out and people are asking me to do theirs as well so I wanna say thanks!!

It's not a deep spot, but I would prefer not to have a "dent" in the dip.
Hi I’m doing a mid sized truck grille, mirrors, door handles and emblem. Will 2 cans still be enough or will I need 3 ? Thanks
Great. What's the process for doing the emblems on a car that has already been plasti dipped or that you plan to plasti dip? ?
How long after you spray do you take it off? Meaning the masking and doing the edges?
Will this work with INVERTED type of project i.e. tacoma tailgate?
I've almost decided to complete the black-out of my new Tacoma with this product. It's metallic silver with mostly black trim, and the chrome emblems/grille/rear bumper corners are bugging me. This seems like the perfect solution.

awesome video! My question to you, however, is: Can the plastidip be removed from a car grill several years later if you decide you want the chrome look back or you want to sell the car in original condition? Thank you!
yes, you just get something sharp to get a slit cut in it and it will peel right off
how does that paint only bond on the emblem when you peel it? Also, how many power wash can the paint survive?
I was wondering if you had to used a primer to make the plastidip sticks?
Is it needed to dip the back of the grill too? In order to let the dip stick better? Taking out the grill would be the best idea?
Hello, where can we buy this "pre dip spray" in local home hardware store, such as canadian tire? Is it basically just a cleaning alcohol?
you think I can get away doing this in the garage winter time in michigan? what do u think of a heat gun to speed up the drying process or should I wait for spring time?
I did my wheels in my garage in NH, just make sure the area is completely dry and make sure the cans aren't cold and it will be fine.
is it smart applying cleargloss on emblems??

Tried to do this for my nissan altima regarding the lettering on the back. Didn't work for me so I just took the letters off first and then sprayed them. After that I put them back on the car. Ditto for the Nissan emblem on the grille. I could never get it just right and perfect using this method.
I have a question, how long does it take for 1 layer of dip to dry completely before you can put the second layer on there?
+Indemere wait about 10-15 minutes
Jacob Hundt Thank you! I've ordered my plasti dip and it should arrive today. Lets make the car more awesome! :)
What car do you have??
Indemere what car do you have
Jacob Hundt Volkswagen Golf GTE, its pearl black, and I've dipped the rim edges blue same as the break callipers and the lines in the grill. Looks AWESOME!
Why dont you just take the grill off to dip it?
On some cars the grille has electronic components/and or is very difficult to remove. But if it's just a piece of plastic knock yourself out.
Alot more work to do that
I did this to my Q60 grill, which is the same exact one as in the video. I removed the grill. It was probably less work than taping everything off and then taking the cover off to protect the radiator
I love your work. I live in California. Is there anyone that you would recommend here? I would like my car to get pastidipped.
How do i, if lets say i wanted to dip my entire car in blaze orange and the emblems in black. How would i do that? ^^
+BAMFkingBizarro Thanks for your input.
Such hostility 😂
What about covering the back up camera or did that just peal off as well?
Just followed this tutorial and am very happy with the results! My issue, there's a slight haze that was left after the plasti dip was peeled and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it off. Buffing with a micro fiber towel is getting me nowhere. Any tips?
Peter Raizis alcohol or a paint correction product/liquid should get it off. Prob even use your finger and rub back and forth really hard lol.
Hi. Good job. How durable is that stuff?
What is the best glossifier to use? I have tried the plastic up glossifier and found out it did not have that glossy sheen to the finished product. Any suggestions?
Does glossifier effect how the plastic dip peels, i want to ad a gloss coats when doing the logos but will it not work in those tight corners
excellent video. Slowly directions and clearly explanation.
Hy I want to buy a plastic dip Plz let me know from where should I buy?
i did this in red on my dark blue jetta and it looks awesome
Obviously I would use extremely care and go slow while peeling it off but do you ever run into that problem I described or is does it always just peel away with simply ease?
yall talking about this dudes arms im over thinking about how this dudes voice is so soothing.
Is it possible for the chrome grille finish to came off when we peel off the Plastidip after lets say about one year? Because one of my friend buy some kind of plastidip (Peelable paint, but I'm not sure wether it's Plastidip or not) and apply it to his car grille and when he peel the paint off, some of the original chrome finish of the grille came off with the peelable paint.
can we use any spary from different company or there is special spray for it
