Yes because I ask A LOT of questions. But I also think they could do an audit of their site and update some info because there's a lot of conflicting information between their blog, instructions and videos. I love that I can watch them spray almost every color combo I'd ever want to do on their channel. Good stuff!
I think sometimes these color pearls need the right car with the right look and that Toyota came out sick! Those tape lines are always challenging, like you said the hardest part of the job, I try to remove the mirrors, window trim and as many other items as possible to reduce the taping and things to avoid, also taping up the door jams and areas where you don't want a hard line with 3M foam tape for best results
Thank you!! We definitely started tearing down more on the vehicles we sprayed after this one. It makes peeling more difficult when the time comes but the overall result looks and holds up better.
Looks like he needed to spray wetter but move much faster, probably about 20psi max on the air pressure as well. I like to say, if you don't make some mistakes, you aren't learning anything, lol. That rough texture on just about any finish is usually from spraying too dry and/or air pressure too high.
Yes! We definitely learned that lesson. We did a couple more after and I posted videos of those on my channel. We definitely learned something every time we sprayed!
Dip is not paint. I don't think it's sandable. It's a rubber substance and would have to be peeled off. Make sure you use a moisture filter on your airline or it'll blow water. Even professionals make mistakes. Normal people like us have to expect imperfections going in. It'll drive you crazy if you start looking for mistakes. LOL Y'all did a good job.
Surprisingly, it's sandable with enough cure time. I should have a new upload this week with our last project using RAAIL instead of DYC. We had to sand the whole side of a Yukon. LOL. It was a fun time. Thanks for the tip!! We learn something new every time. Thank you!
Seems like actual vinyl wrap is better . Faster than spray vinyl wrap. He should remove paper off while wet. 8 coats are possible for taking paper off.
Jessica, great video, thanks. I'm wanting to do my black Corvette to white with pearl. I'm looking at a couple different brands. RAAIL looks pretty good as well as ProLine. Prices are about the same give or take a little. Did you look at any other brands? I did the math on your packing list. Is it fair to say you got a 20% discount?? Otherwise not sure how it ended up being $544. Does the high build primer really have much color?? Doesn't seem like it to me but hard to tell. How much pearl did you end up applying?? Full gallon with 25 grams??? Do you know if they still sell the satin and gloss clear?? I dont see it on the website. How do you feel about the gloss on the matte finish?? Thanks!!!!
Hey! Sorry for the late response. I actually just did a project with RAAIL and I felt like it was more straightforward. Also, their Airwrap topcoat is standard satin, which is nice. I did get a 20% discount for whatever sale they were running at the time. The high build primer is clear. That's your 'base'. The difference with DYC Proline and RAAIL Airwrap is the basecoat for Airwrap comes with several tint options. The pearl was Tropical Glitz interstellar violet in 60 (fine sparkle) and I believe it was 25g, but I could be wrong. It definitely didn't seem like enough for me with the finished product. I don't think DYC Proline has a compatible gloss. RAAIL has the Airwrap V2 which is a semi-gloss and gas resistant. They also have Spherical which is a gloss finish. I don't love the matte finish truthfully, just for what I was doing. Satin has a much nicer dimension to it. I hope this helps!
You didnt put your last coat on heavy enough, if you end up with a textured finish that "grabs dirt", its because you didnt spray a heavy enough "wet coat"
Didn't see u do any painting 🤔 just add libbing . Talking a lot but not showing any supposed hands on.. best ur painter just doing the video and dubbing lol
Give it a year and see how bad it is. Dirty will get in the pours of it and turn it ugly. Even though it appears that you took your time to do a quality job, it's just not a quality product. Paint is best, REAL wrap is good, but plastidip is nasty stuff.
I mean, maybe. But I’ve seen a lot of work that’s lasted years and looks amazing. “Plastidip” has come a long way. Gloss and gas resistant options are available. Autoflex, Raail, and DYC all putting out lasting products. It’s also much cheaper than either of the other 2 options. I spray a lot of single stage and it’s $400/gal+. My factory paint didn’t last at all. This is a good option for someone who wants a color change for a few years that’s more affordable.
I like the idea of plasti dip But I prefer a nice gloss ( mirror type ) It has come a long way though from its beginning More colors Satan and semi gloss finishes I watch a UA-cam video where the guy shot black primer Then he clear coated it with some pearls Then just a wet coat of clear It came out amazing He also does Rustoleum single stage with a hardner that makes the paint gas resistant and much more durable as far longevity He also shoots clear of the rustoleum and I have to say it comes out really nice and is much cheaper than buying factory paint.
DYI is the BEST. Their customer relations is so patient explaining stuff.

String tape is your friend for fine edges and lines.
Great choice of colour! Completely changed the car, love the pearl , I think you both done amazing. I would be delighted with the final result.
Thank you so much! I did a Yukon after this one and was much more confident in the final result - I have that one posted on my page too!

Very nice, looks great. I'm in the window tint business, and as a rule of thumb, it's the 3 foot rule. Lol. Nobody bats a 1000.
That color with the black looks great
Thank you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥beautiful job I love it
Thank you!
The color looks good

Very nice job I like it a lot more that the black.
Thank you!

What is the wet coat meaning I’m first time I was look forward to you show step by step with order
Wet coat is exactly as it sounds. Spraying it should be slower than your tack coats and should create a “wet” look when sprayed.
Good morning, is liquid wrap, spray painting? How was the liquid wrap applied? Thanks ANB
It’s applied with an HVLP gun! It’s sprayed like a paint but it’s thicker and it peels like a vinyl.

Came out great....even with the imperfections...the 50/50 rule, no one will notice...50 feet away or at 50 MPH lol
LOL right! I actually got a ton of compliments on it despite the imperfections.
Nice job.
Thank you!!
Looks great!
Awesome.... why to DIY!!!
How much roughly spent on material ?

Good to know, thank you! It softened after some time in the sun, it just felt very rubbery initially.
I like it. He did a excellent job job🫡👀
Looks nice
👍👍
That’s actually not trash factory paint. It’s more like trash owner not taking care of the vehicle.
Aww, did that hurt your feelings? 😢
Ver very nice
👍🏾👍🏾
I know you crave attention but you definitely should do some flip flop pedal pumping videos in that car!
👀 That sounds like a fetish activity
Didn't see u do any painting 🤔 just add libbing . Talking a lot but not showing any supposed hands on.. best ur painter just doing the video and dubbing lol
Watch the other videos I made. I was definitely hands on. Couldn’t always video myself lol
