      Hair spray! Its the most under utilized hair product in black hair care. Like, there's anti-humidity hair spray that has a light hold and humidity resistant. WP use it all the time!

    I think I'm coming to the dark side. I can't do it anymore. Last month I spent A DAY AND A HALF on my hair. Once I got down to straightening my hair...I sweat so my hair was reverting on me while I was straightening! I almost cried sis lmbo....I don't have the time to spend on my natural hair. I stay sweating and I'm literally running around on my job the entire time and my natural hair doesn't keep up. So I'm considering going back. I'm not worried about anyone else I have to do what works best for me....I tell ppl IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE THERE TO DO MY HAIR AND FOR FREE WHEN IT NEEDS TO BE DONE COOL but you're not so stay on your side lmbo.

      when I first started learning about my hair I had no one to look forward to teaching me how to manage my hair many years I've made many mistakes but when I found out what natural hair did for me and I learn how to manage it and even with the weather the humidity I learn how to style my hair for those days of humidity rain snow summer winter fall whatever it was I learned I had a lot of mistakes but it's much easier for me now with my hair natural the only thing I use in my hair is henna and my conditioning my oil in and I do take care of my hair very well but people who get on these comment sites and they talk about how bad natural hair is it takes me on a normal day to shampoo my hair conditioner I use a cool blow dryer I have towels that absorbs the water I use Heat Protector even though I don't use a high heat blow dryer but I do blow dry my hair almost enough to look like the text Lacks and if it's a damp day or humid day I braid it I make sure that I put an oil that you know help protect my hair from the humidity good morning and I'm very myself very satisfied because I learn how to manage my hair my hair is between a 4A and 4B and it took me a long time my head on Tangela I know how to manage that I have waist length hair and I learn how to control it like I said before I do blow dry my hair that helps me with the tangles I can do my hair about every 7 to 10 to 14 days according to you know my schedule and basically it takes me if I'm doing a full regiment which I thought maybe about 8 in the morning and I go about whatever I'm doing in the house washing cleaning up I do my free pools I do my conditioning I do my wash and it takes me approximately 2 hours so I my hair isn't extremely thick my strands are very thin so I have to be very careful with that and use a shampoo or conditioner that have a lot of slip I don't get to the point where my hair is over dry I keep my hair and good condition so that I won't get to the point where I have to detangle and you know go through the whole situation before I wash it so and you go along on your head Journey whatever your hair journey is just make a regiment that fit your schedule that's all

    12:06 definitely. I didn't know how to care for my hair before when I was relaxed but being natural made me learn. I went back to relaxed hair three years ago, after six years of being natural. Prior to that, I was relaxed for 23 years, and prior to that, my Dear Mom pressed my hair. She truly had blessed hands. :) In order to manage my natural hair, I had to wear it cropped short. While it was cute for a time, it became difficult to find barbers/stylists to cut it the way I liked after my first barber - the one who performed my Big Chop and did a beautiful job keeping it shaped up - went MIA. I spent literally hundreds of dollars on various hair care products, to no avail. When I tried to grow out my natural hair, it broke and shed. I prefer having relaxed hair, due to my lifestyle, the types of hairstyles I like to wear, and, the fact that my natural texture is difficult to manage. I also know more about caring for my relaxed hair at home than I did during the first 23 years of being relaxed, because there is now more information out there, and I am more vigilant. I had a range of stylists who possessed a range of skills, and my hair suffered at the hands of these professionals. Honestly, the struggle in trying to manage my natural hair texture made me sad and frustrated. My natural hair texture was untenable, and wasn't thriving.

    I'm a "straight hair natural" I renamed myself to "heat styled natural"( lol same thing it just sounds better to me😆.) I only blow dry and flat iron once a month, and I love how easy it is to keep my hair trained. I find myself being my own worse critic as far as being a "traitor" and not embracing what God gave me, but then again I don't have time for the tangles and I know that anyone who wants to judge me is not going to wake up every morning to do my hair so... To anyone that may feel ashamed to make whatever decision you feel is best for you, just remember it's YOUR life and schedule and it will not affect anyone else whatsoever.

    • @Monicaizpeace
      @Monicaizpeace 4 роки тому +1

      @@raeloves3 As of now my hair still reverts back (type 4), when I wash it. Not gonna lie it has changed, but it doesn't feel unhealthy or weak.(change as in, it takes a tad bit longer to revert but it always does) If you are afraid of your curls changing, blow dry on the cool setting, or do roller sets. You could skip the flat ironing all together but if not, I recommend 1-2 passes 410 degrees or lower, and when you get to the ends, let up and don't go as slow since they are more fragile and tends to be the first to get damaged. This way you can still have texture to your straight look and minimize damage. Also take breaks from the heat, especially if you plan on heat styling more than once a month.
      Now if you want bone straight, and don't care about your curls, disregard above tips.

I had natural hair until my 12 years old and I had relaxed hair until my 22 years old. Now I'm back to natural hair since october 2019 and this is a f**** struggle EVERY SINGLE TIME. I can't do it anymore. Everybody keeps telling me : Keep your natural hair, it's more black women identity, this is the trend now, it's not good for your body and blablabla. It tooks me 4 HOURS to do my hair and my schedule is too tigth for this. I don't have time. I'm miss my extension hair and relaxed hair so much. I just never had natural hair for so long that I just don't know how to take care of them. Cost so much money and go to the hairdresser to do braids, etc. I really try to keep it up, but I just can't. I'm gonna crack for sur.

    Your journey for natural hair is the same as mine. I went back to texlax/relax after over 6 years natural. It’s been a 1 1/2 years and don’t regret it. Do I miss my natural hair? Sometimes 🙂. But not the time I spent managing it. The longer it got the more work it was. Detangling was a 🥵and sometimes I just wanted to go to bed and not spend time twisting it up. My hair was unpredictable and a change in weather would ruin the whole process in less than 30 mins. Entering my 6th decade in life I have better things to worry about and things not do. The fact that I have never have worn braids, weaves or wigs didn’t help my cause in the natural world. I just wore my hair. Always! Too tender-headed and big headed for even a headband. My hair is the same either relaxed or natural as far as length and health. But for ME this relaxer is far easier. Roller set once a week and bam out the door.

      Honeyyyyy, this speaks to me on a spiritual level. Thanks for sharing because a lot of women aren't as confident as you are to do that. AlexisKimberlyy I use magnetic rollers. That’s it. No other heat or process during the week. I kinda of roll it under, slap a bonnet and go to bed. I got my 1st relaxer at 16. I was relaxed up to 52. Then went natural. For 6 years I wore twist and braid outs. I hated wash day. The whole process was tiring for me but I didn’t want to give up but felt my hair was consuming my time and darn I had other things to do on my weekends. Life is short and even shorter at 60 ha ha. So I’m doing what works best for me and could care less what someone else thinks. I got my nights and weekends back. I wish we just weren’t so hard on it each for making personal decisions that work best for each person. Your hair is gorgeous!

    • @chestarr21batson46
      @chestarr21batson46 4 роки тому +1

      AlexisKimberlyy yes I sit under a dryer. But remember I have been roller setting my own hair for at least 30 years and can do my whole head in about 20 mins. But I can’t flat twist, French braid , flat iron or blow dry to save myself🙏🏾. All of it takes practice which I don’t have patience for...... so it’s a roller set or a simple braid out if I have the air drying time. 👍🏾😃

    I've been natural for 13 or 14 years. I've constantly been frustrated by it. I've tried countless natural styles and always end up wearing wigs. I have decent density in the back but thin on the sides (some hereditary and some traction alopecia from wearing braids most of my life before going natural). My strands are fine and my hair tangles SO easily. As soon as I've finished detangling it has tangled back. I find it pointless to be natural if I don't like wearing my hair out. I've been thinking of texlaxing my hair for two years. I think I will do it next week. Thanks for sharing your suggestions.

The description of your hair is 100% my situation the think in the back thin sides causing (in my case) certain hairdos to look awful cause im actually missing quite some hair it breaks off so much so a lot of frizz have a 'present' forehead.i workout almost daily and indeed even straightened out this hair tangles like crazy.youncan take a small bit of hair n brush of for 30 minutes, for 30 min you'll feeln tangles with each stroke and i wonder if then maybe it isnt better to just straighten it...though i did keratine a while which was straightening it too but straight was not curling anymore and new hair was becoming a rebel. (Im mixed but my hair didnt mix i have parts that are 2b and some 3b in between all the zigzag 4b

    If your hair is relaxed that's still your natural hair ,when you are wearing a weave or extensions that's not your natural hair that's how I understand it ,I relaxed my hair and to me I call it natural because it's running through my scalp and I'm not wearing any extensions ,

      I wear wigs but when I wear my natural hair I straighten it and I usually do sleek ponytails but of course with 4c hair it’s never sleek sleek, and I’m super tender headed so 😭

      Laney Plum girl I totally get you! I was natural for about 5 years before I went back to texlaxing. I know the struggle of 4C hair. Ultimately you gotta choose the style that fits in your lifestyle and leaves you feeling the most confident. Screw everything else! For so long I was TIHEDDD 😂😂 I had to make a change. I don’t regret it!

    Are there specific brands that do texlaxers with very little relaxing product in it? Or is it just left to time management?

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 роки тому +1

      Femme Futile There are some products marketed as “texture softeners” or texturizers and claim to have a lower concentration of chemical ingredients. But be careful because in many instances the chemical is just as strong as a regular relaxer but the product just has more conditioning ingredients to dilute the product. It’s tricky. I’m going to do some research on my own and post a full video about this because a lot of women have this question! ❤️

    I co-washed when my hair was relaxed before co-washing was a thing. I worked out so my hair was salty so it was easier to wash with conditioner, especially if I was on the go. Now that I am natural, I don't co-wash. I wash and condition my hair weekly not that I have found the right products for me.
    I love being natural. I don't straighten it. If I was younger I would do all the things. Wash and go is it for me.

      Yes textlax would be the better option as opposed to going bone straight with relaxing

    • @RoyalNykki
      @RoyalNykki 3 роки тому

      Relaxers should never get your hair bone straight with proper technique though. I did relaxers for years and it was thick, plenty of texture, long, shiny and healthy. I went to a stylist that really knew what she was doing. My hair is too coarse for texlax so she did mild relaxers on me and never let them sit, applied and rinsed immediately. Made a huge huge difference. Got compliments from strangers everyday. Drop dead gorgeous relaxed hair. Been natural for 8 years but I'm going back to relaxed before the end of this year.

    There is no shame in relaxing your hair or doing any other treatment. I am not hating on you in any way. You are beautiful and the inte t of this video is great. However, you should not tell People that a relaxer is safe because it has been on the market a long time and that they are ok because you havent seen any negative concequenses YET.....

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 роки тому +8

      linda berry Thank you for the compliment and thanks for watching. I never said relaxers were safe at any point in this video. What I actually said was that putting a chemical on your hair is not ideal and is something a person should consider before relaxing. The fact that relaxers have been on the market for several decades is actually a fact, not just my opinion, and I am free to share that I personally have not had a negative experience with them. This video is intended to empower women to do what they want after careful consideration. I am not “telling” anyone to do anything.

    Literally spending 12+ hours just to do my hair, not even doing it well, I do not have the patience to be gentle on tangles. Who knows how long being gentle would take. My natural hair has gotten pretty long because it’s been staying in “protective”(honestly just lazy) styles for months at a time. But I’m about to make the switch. I’m tired of being in the shower so long the water runs cold, I’m tired of my arms being sore, putting a crick in my neck, having to plan ahead to allow for hair styling. I commend the long hair natural girls but my natural hair is clocking out🫡

    I’m lightly relaxed and still do natural styles wash and go twist out etc, people can’t tell unless I tell them, their reaction changes once I tell them I’m relaxed. Winter months I wear it straight it still reverts with humidity best of both worlds.

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 роки тому +5

      SAME!!! People don’t realize until I tell them and then the conversation gets awkward lol. And I rock straight hair in the winter too. Only time of year the weather will allow my straight styles to flourish ❤️🤣
