      I use Canvas Shampoo and conditioner for my long, relaxed hair. I just started using it and I love, love, love it! It’s castor oil based. Leaves hair soft, silky, and detangled. KeraCare leave in conditioner, KeraCare detangling spray. IC leave- in with Aloe. I use a mixture of canvas serum, Shedavi oil, coconut oil, and sulfur 8 on my scalp and to seal. Profectiv anti-breakage growth cream for moisture.

I usually have to wash in tiny sections but i thought id try washing in 4 sections and honey my hair showed me who's in charge that day lol.. it was literally dread loc'd and took me 3 days to get through my head. im just so glad im not alone

    That is all I do. Roller set 100% and braid outs once I get past 12/14 weeks post relaxer until I touch up again. Been doing this for decades. Works for me as I do not protective style.

    Your hair is beautiful. Like someone else mentioned, using salon quality products and quality heat tools will give you great results. I blow dry and flat iron once a week with no issues. I also use silicones, and clarify once a month. Years ago, I switched to salon products and never looked back. I use to get crazy buildup using drugstore products. I believe in investing in your hair.

      Adja Ly I’m not sure if your budget, but I use Oribe moisture shampoo and moisture conditioner. I also use to use Pureology Hydrate line. For protein, I only use Aphogee 2 minute the week after relaxer. I use Olaplex every other week.

    Sister!!! Im glad your touch up went well. Your hair looks so nice. 3 things I want to mention: cowashing: yes yes and yes as long as detangling doesnt take you too long ( we dont want cowashing to be like wash day...). Str8 style: dont panic about flat iron. Dont do it every week or too often but it is not the devil if your hair is moisturized and you use a heat protectant. Buildup: once in a month a clarifying shampoo wont hurt and it will remove all the product, just make sure you deep condition after as it dries the hair or just do a preepo before it

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 роки тому +1

      Sisterrrr!! Thank you! Such great points you make. I totally agree with you on cowashing. That's why I used to never do it! Lol I just figured it would take too long and turn into another wash day! Lol but I'm excited to give it a try. And yes! I will be clarifying monthly. It always just slipped my mind, but now that I'm more familiar with ingredients, I understand how important it is now. Thanks for watching, as always, my love! Hope you and your hair are doing well! So crazy!!! I thought it was only me!!! I’m now 6 months post relaxer and still waiting for phase 3 in nyc. I got my hair braided in May and took my braids out on July 1st... and girl my hair literally turned into dread locks. The matting was unlike anything my hair has ever experienced. I cried and the clumps of hair that I lost. Now my hair. Especially my ends feel especially thin and I’m scared of how it’s gonna look once I finally get it relaxed.

      You are not alone! I've cried those same tears boo, trust me. Look at it this way, this pandemic is something none of us could have predicted or avoided. So whatever the outcome, you did the best you could by your hair and you will pick up where you are when things open up. I'm a Long Island girl, so I know your NY struggle. Hang in there and consider doing an Olaplex treatment to fortify those bonds before your next relaxer. Be well! Xoxo

    the quarantine has been interesting to say the least. Like you i kind of got stuck needing to get my touch up but couldn't and when my beautician opened she was booked solid. I believe i finally went at the 5 month or 6 month time too and i too was very ready to go. Difference from you is my relaxers are really straightening my hair straight and i think i would like the lighter relaxer. My natural hair is not all that tight of curls but no spirals that for sure. I went ahead and continued what i had been doing but have decided to go with a lighter relaxer next time. I find your tex lax interesting. I do love what you are doing with your hair and thank you for sharing.

      JaShae be careful with telaxing. I tried it and it caused major damage especially if someone does it for you. When I did it the person who applied the relaxer didn't understand that i wanted my hair to be under processed. Instead she didn't relax parts of my hair- hello breakage. So now, when the relaxer is being applied I time it. I wash it out between 7 to 8 minutes. Now thats for me- it depends on how thick your hair is.
      Just treat it as well and you will be fine.

    Your hair looks great!! I'm someone who likes to wear my the way I want without stressing about it because you should be able to enjoy it. One week it's a protective style and the next week I usually flat iron. I cowash and wash once a week and feel that along with my products I can flat iron every other week if I decide too. I also feel like since switching to majority salon products it has made a difference and with the sales ulta always has I'm not spending any more than I would in the drugstore. Glad you made it through your stretch cause six months is hard, lol.

I've been experimenting with that lately and I'm going to look into those Ulta sales you mentioned. And I'm SO happy you can relate to my thought process on how I wanna rock my hair. I just wanna love on my hair and do with it what I please without feeling regret. Length goals will be secondary to that fun and playfulness I want with my hair. Thanks for watching and sharing boo!! Everybody told me to jus do a big chop. Aunty Jackie’s knot on my watch detangler help me to detangle my hair bit by bit n it took me 10days. Eh, it's the same concept pretty much. They both create curls and body. Perm rods tend to be a smaller size than the rollers I personally use and create a tighter curl. I think my rollers are about 1 inch diameter, they have holes in them so that air circulates through them when I sit under the dryer, and they require clips to secure them.

      Over my life I have been natural for 23 years and relaxed for 37. I have never had my ends relaxed once the initial relaxer was applied. Only the roots/new growth. Why is your stylist relaxing pre-relaxed hair? It will thin your hair and cause breakage. I agree- you need to find another stylist.

      Hi Britany, I'm so sorry that this has been your experience. As everyone else has said, that is NOT what your hairstylist is supposed to do. He/she is only supposed to relax the new growth. The thinning is due to your hair being severely overprocessed. I'm so sorry. You need to leave that person immediately and you're going to have to start fresh with someone new. Make sure to ask for a consultation to discuss with him/her your hair issues before giving him/her your money. You want to make sure they're reputable. In the meantime, use Olaplex at least twice a week. I believe the instructions allow for application up to 2-3 times per week. Do it. Keep your hair moisturized at all times and supplement with protein treatments as needed. Xoxo
