    This is the best explanation I've heard on broken bonds and bond treatment. Most UA-camrs just say it "repairs the broken bonds in your hair" or "it rebuilds the bonds" without any explaining what bonds even are, leaving some of us even more confused!

    You have to get into your OWN maintenance routine! We use both in our house Olaplex is NOT a protein and hair needs protein. My 3 go-tos 1. Marcia tiextera Keratin (every 5 months) 2. Olaplex every two weeks wash or once a month in winter 3. Alpha G as needed every other month or once a month. My daughter LOVES color so she does the Olaplex more often 💕 great info

    Olaplex behaves like protein on my hair, so I add moisture after. As far as protein treatments, they should be done as needed not on a schedule. Protein treatments are like medicine for the hair. You don’t take medicine if you’re not sick. I would only use a protein treatment after a chemical service or if your hair needs it. Once the problem is corrected, there is no need to keep adding protein. For example, my shampoo and conditioner has enough protein in small amounts to keep my hair balanced. There is no need for me to add more protein on top of that on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis.

    • @roxyc.6825
      @roxyc.6825 3 роки тому +15

      I agree, but some of us need protein on a monthly basis - my hair definitely does.

    • @jones2277
      @jones2277 2 роки тому +11

      a protein treatment doesn't "correct" your hair. damaged hair cannot be "corrected." it has to be cut off. a protein treatment is more like a band-aid. it bonds to your hair and temporarily fills the gaps in the damaged hair cuticle. this reduces breakage and helps you to retain length as your hair grows out.. since the treatment is temporary, you do need to be on some sort of regular schedule (every 4 weeks, for example), and you can keep trimming the damaged ends as healthy hair is coming in.

    Can I just say thank you for breaking down all of this. The top of my hair is straight and silky but the underneath side is spiral curls the hair stands are so thick and pours, they break off beyond belief and feel rough. Not one stylist has ever been able to tell me what I need to do for this but I don’t think the people I’ve seen have experience with textured hair. Leave in conditioners etc have done nothing!! So since Olaplex works internally does it not bond new proteins to the hair shaft? I was curious if pairing Olaplex with Aphogee would be able to actually mend the hair beyond temporarily filling the gaps. Obviously hair is just dead keratin so it cant be “healed” but if Olaplex does as it says Ive wondered if it at least can make protein treatments last longer by holding new proteins in the broken areas for longer periods of time.

      Hello, I hope your day is going well! I have watched several videos indicating that No. 3 only works on clean hair. So it may help to first use the No. 4 shampoo (2 lathers and 2 rinses as usual), then use No 3, RINSE again, and then use either No 5 or No 8 (but not both on the same day).Then the final RINSE before applying styling products. I just purchased the No 3 after using the No 4 and then either No 5 or No 8 for about a month. My hair styist recommended that I alternate between No 5 and No 8 every other week. Along with my prepoo, my hair texture is improving. Thanks and have a very blessed week!

      dont use number 3¡¡¡ go to the salon and ask for number 1 and 2 treatment, every week depending on your hair damage and ask the stylist to follow it with a heavy moisturizing mask such as the amika one, the bumble and bumble, morrocan oil hydrating or the purology one, the davines nou nou one is great to, yo dont want to use heave protein mask after olaplex it will make your hair rough and brittle because of the overload of repairing products. PRO TIP: Go buy a clarifying shampoo with no silicones no proteins nothing special, then wash your hair with it before olaplex treatments. You need a detox shampoo with sulfates so that your hair is out of any coating that could prevent olaplex to penetrate in your hair and that way you are not wasting product sitting on top of your hair

    I use olaplex 0 and 3 with cow's placenta (protein) and my hair is so much better!!! I find the perfect duo!
    But I gotta say.... I asked to the girls of Sally beauty and they told me. ..I shouldn't mix anything with olaplex, I still do it, but . I'm just saying they told me I shouldn't

    Can the same olaplex product that is used during bleaching be used during relaxing? Or will the relaxer not be able to work because olaplex is protecting the sulfide bonds from being broken?
