Yooo same this thing brings back the kid in me that used to brick old Dell school computers 😂 already bricked it once and wiped it and got right back to where I was in less than 2 hours. Easily to troubleshoot and fun to mod.
Just wanted to add to the conversation. For those who like to dabble with their tech: - Target FPS is recommended to be 45 at the 90Hz. It still looks stellar and you can get most games to run within it. - Undervolt your deck. Valve has made it really easy for us casuals to pick up in the bios. It will help your system’s performance. There’s tons of easy-to-follow guides on UA-cam. - Utilize the Deck’s built-in frame generation for games that don’t support FSR. You can set what resolution games open up at in your library, run them in windowed, kick on the Deck’s FSR and enjoy an extra 5-10 frames (depending on how far your scaled your resolution down). These are super handy tips for folks who would like to play more modern games. I’ve been able to play most games at 45fps this way and it looks way better than 30fps.
Getting my steam deck hopefully this week or next week, looks so cool I've been watching steam deck content since it released but havent pulled the plug on ordering one thanks for this video it was helpful
I finally pull the trigger getting one I bought the oled 512 gb vs bought it end of November got the 1st week of December for me it was price it was hard saving butt I'm glad on mine loving it specially playing skyrim an eso online plus forza horizon and dragon age 3
Yeah man. Santa gifted me , and I’ve been obsessed with edu learning about it getting all the emulators and fun stuff . Loving it this far . Your videos and others have helped a ton 👊🏼
One more tip: always leave a little slack in the USB-C cable when you plug it in to reduce pressure on the plug. When charging, always place the Steam Deck in its case and lay it out of the way. This will prevent the USB-C cable from becoming an accidental trap. (you can as well read subreddits for hours why NOT getting a magnetic adapter for usb-c cables.)

BeamNG Drive does work well in low-medium setings as well, just make sure to not run more than 5 cars at once as the VRAM gets maxxed that way and the Deck will switch off then. Oh and don't run 290 mods like me. That affects performance as well
If someone has a bunch of files, they can email them to you. Or you can ask friends if they have some files and put them on a thumb drive. Think of getting roms... er, files, as a gamer black market thing.

Small correction, not all OLED models come with the "nice new case". Those of us who got the 1TB did, but the 512 gang got the same case as the OG.

8:10 "I don't get why 10FPS makes that much of a difference..." Because math.
30 FPS = 33.33ms/F
40 FPS = 25ms/F
60 FPS = 16.66ms/F
90 FPS = 11.1ms/F
120 FPS = 8.33 ms/F
240 FPS = 4.17 ms/F
360 FPS, = ~2.8ms/F
Notice how to achieve the same 8.33ms reduction given in those TEN frames, we have to double that gain to 20 frames, and to achieve it a THIRD time we have to then DOUBLE framerate from 60 to 120, or a 600% increase in frame gain compared to the transition from 30 to 40.
