    Yes, my feelings were hurt by mango butter not having a mango scent, but I love it anyway. I had no idea that there was a fragrance oil that not only smelled like mango, but is safe to use in these types of products. I can't wait to get my hands on the EO, and try this recipe!! 😁

    I've been trying to find information about how 100% pure mango butter is made, but Google keeps serving up search results showing people using the infusion method by adding grated or pulverized mango seed kernel to various carrier oils. Do you know how cosmetic grade or pure mango butter is made? Is an expeller press used for extraction or something? Thanks

    Yeah for a mango series! I bought some mango 'oil' at Aroma Zone. Something that is food safe and is used by some costumers to put in yogurt. Smells good but not as a shampoo bar. I'll try this mango body butter!
    Edit: it is called natural aroma extract.

    Thank you for your tutorial! Question, if I want to add a preservative to body butters, because theirs no “water phase” what do you recommend? I usual use my butter right after showering so there’s a chance water could get into my body butter.

    • @Candeerose3

      Optiphen Plus is what I use. I buy it on Amazon. It's paraben and formaldehyde free. Worth buying and using.

    • @thecameraqt
      @thecameraqt 4 роки тому

      Candee Rose Optiphen Plus is a preservative I like too, but because theirs no water in my body butters (just butter and oils) how could I use Optiphen Plus or any other water phase preservatives if theirs no water in the recipe?

    • @Candeerose3
      @Candeerose3 4 роки тому

      @@thecameraqt I'm sorry my mistake... If you're only using oil there it is not necessary to use a preservative. The oils will be fine and I highly doubt it will go rancid before you use it all. Unless you're not using the oil that much.
      In such a case that you really want to add a preservative add some pure vitamin E. While vitamin E really isn't a preservative per say it may help some.

    I have a question, I made a cuticle balm but added a little more of the beeswax than the oils and it came out super hard. So I tried again but this time with less beeswax and more of the oils and it’s more creamy. So for a balm consistency that sort of melts when you rub it with your fingers and it smooths out, does it mean I always have to add less beeswax than oils? I also noticed that you didn’t add beeswax to your recipe can I use my balm without beeswax? And will it be creamy with just the oils ?

    I had a question about stabilizing essential oils and fragrance oils in products. I recently made a lotion and Pomade (both water based) and found that the fragrance dissipated after 6 months. When I open the product it doesn't smell much at all anymore. I have read that adding propylene glycol helps stabilize your fragrance. Is that true? Is there any other ingredient that helps keep the fragrance in products?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      I'm afraid I don't have a great answer for this question. Fragrances are typically pretty stubborn, and I find they hang around for ages. More volatile essential oils will naturally dissipate, which is why it is typically recommended that one blends high/mid/and low notes to create a more stable blend. Heat will accelerate the loss/breakdown of scents. And some essential oils just last longer than others-patchouli will hang around for years while I find citrus EOs run off pretty quickly.

    • @gnomebeard407
      @gnomebeard407 6 років тому

      @@HumblebeeAndMe I did some research and read that polysorbate 20 works really well for stabilizing essential oils in o/w emulsions. And polysorbate 80 works for w/o emulsions. 😊I just ordered some from Lotioncrafter!!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому +3

      I try to keep them as long as I can. My carrier oil bottles all have a pipette rubber-banded to the side of them so I can keep using the same pipette with that oil until the pipette splits. For fragrance oils and highly pigmented products I do typically dispose of it immediately, though-I don't want the product dripping everywhere :/

      I have made one, a solid mango shampoo. I bought the extract at Aroma Zone. It was a food safe extract, used for cosmetic products but also to flavor yogurt. Strangely my mango extract has not the same smell as a shampoo as in the bottle. I don't understand why: it smells great in the bottle, I added lots, the other ingredients (mainly Sci) don't smell. It is not the same product as Marie uses.
      If Marie tries one I might be tempted to retry 😀

    I've found dry masks one can buy online in bulk, and make your own formula for them, keep them in a fridge, and pop one out for daily use. I was wondering if you could formulate something with such hydrating properties, yet a bit of viscosity, so they don't drip all over. Thank you :D

      Basically, "it depends". I've got an FAQ on this here: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/will-this-melt-in-hot-weather/

    That looks great! But at $10 an ounce...I'll have to pass on the essential oil and use my fragrance oil instead.

      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      At 1% an ounce will go a long way, but if you aren't fan of mangoes there's no need to invest :)

    For those in Canada, i wonder how similar Windy Point Soap’s Mad for Mango fragrance oil or Voyageur’s Mango madness compares to your Mango fragrance oil. www.windypointsoap.com/products/mad-for-mangoes-fragrance-oil www.voyageursoapandcandle.com/products/mango-madness-fragrance-oil

      I'll have to check the next time I'm at Windy Point! I do have a Mango Passionfruit FO from NDA that's fantastic :)

    is this mango essence really natural? I'm very doubtful!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  5 років тому

      That'll depend on what you consider to be "natural". I've written more about this at www.humblebeeandme.com/lets-talk-natural/ :)

    This is totally random, but I've been watching The Office again, and you look a lot like Ellie Kemper! I don't normally "see" celebrity look-alikes in other folks, so I hope this wasn't weird to say! haha.

    Am I the only person who followed this recipe and got a much softer result (almost not solid)? and no, it is not because I'm living in a warm country (UK) :-)

      Hmm. Perhaps try bringing it to an even thicker trace next time? There could be some variation in the firmness of your butter, too-in that case you could try shifting the liquid/solid balance by 5-10% :)

    • @____Ann____
      @____Ann____ 5 років тому +1

      Same here. A thickened liquid, like cream. I tried a second time because I thought I made a mistake while measuring but nope, unfortunately the same result.

    Can this body butter be whipped?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  4 роки тому

      It can-it's just a matter of whether or not it will stay soft and whippy over time as that is a thing I would formulate and test for if I was creating a whipped body butter.
