Yep, it worked! I am very happy. Thank you Marie, for making success possible with clear explanation. I made the winter formula as it is currently just over 10 degrees in the UK and we heat the house only in the evening. I cooled the mixture gently to room temperature before placing it inside the fridge, and I didn't have to put it into the freezer to get it to the correct consistency for whipping. I added a teaspoon of arrowroot and three drops of vitamin E oil.
I want to take the time to say THANKYOU! I don't use the same ingredients or measurements, but I've been wondering how to get a formula together for my products and I did not know how or where to start! After I watched this video it turned on a light bulb for me and I was able to perfect my formulas for my recipes. You're a blessing!
I did the cream for winter three months ago and it was amazing, it stayed the same throughout winter and all family ,oved it. I used cold pressed shea butter and included castor oil and boom my family used it already and the skin especially on feet was so great!! we have baby feet now. I thought the percentage for a whipped body butter was 70% butter and 30% oil . I just did that now to test it with Shea butter 70% and 30% sweet almond oil and it came out fine! Still thickening though . But is that an ok ratio?
This video looks delicious! I know it's for body butter, but that whipped, white goodness, had my mouth watering. OMGosh!! I have some shea butter and cocoa butter and came here specifically for how to cream it, instead of solid - like mine turned out. (I can still use it, but I just had to rub-a-dub-dub, between my hands to get it to melt). I LOVE her method of adding oil. This lady is amazing and how nice of her to share her vast knowledge of body butters. Thumbs up! Beth ♥
I can't help but think of pumpkin pie & whipped cream every time I make a good whipped body butter 😋 This is an older video, but gives an idea of how to make a whipped body butter using cocoa butter (which is so hard it tends to make everything you use it in hard): ua-cam.com/video/mK-erBi0ebg/v-deo.html. I don’t know how to thank you really for this effort ♥️ I have a question, when it comes to commercial purpose there is a temperature fluctuations between my home, the customer’s home, if they leave the butter in the bathroom and even the temperature outside while the product is being shipped, How can I handle all these variation? At which temperature should I adjust the butter?

Awesome video!! Super helpful! 😊 for hotter summers, would more of shea butter then luquid oils be better? Also mixing different oils like mango, or coco butter with shea butter make it thicker?
Hi, I watched your video for the first time And i got every bit of information I need. Other youtube videos don't explain that much Thanks a lot Love from India❤
Thank you so much for this video. 😍I have a question about the packaging. Is it safe to pack body butter in tins like you did? I was told in some groups that glass jars is the only way to go, and that metal tins are unsafe because metal leaches into the product. But I really like how cute the tins look, and would rather pack in those. What are your thoughts on this leaching theory? I trust your knowledge.
I have been making it both medicinally for skin irritations on humans and animals and as everyday lotion also I've made lots of different scrubs, and never ever have I used a recipe and they always turn out perfect then again I've never tried to just whip shea butter on its own and even when I do it still turns out fluffy, as I have to whip the shea butter before I add the softer things and after I add a few software ingredients the volume goes up so much

I’ve been watching your videos for years, and they never disappoint! I still keep my formulations pretty crunchy, so I appreciate the very simple recipe and the focus on technique! Unrelated question: is your lip color one that you’ve made? It’s so pretty!
Thank you so much! ❤️ I _think_ that lip colour is Pat McGrath's "Beautiful Creature"-purchased at a massive discount back in 2020. It's a fab colour! I don't 100% remember applying it before filming this but it looks to be the right colour and I've been kind of obsessed with it lately.

Overthinker here 👋 my winters have a MOODY range from -2°C to 32°C... I TRY to keep my home between 18-40°C, but it's a leaky house & we mostly only keep our bedrooms ambient & just roll with whatever the house is going to be. My husband's idea of "ambient" is 30°C, so just us fighting over the heater dial makes for quite a range of temp fluctuations. At the exact same time my bathroom could be 6°C in the coldest of weather LOL I am willing to concede that such a fussy formula is probably not for my home... However *I can't help but play* with the idea of adding some kind of structure to the whip; they add gelatin & texturizers to marshmallow fluff after all! Could a small percentage of polyamide 3 (in it's respective preferred oil/ester to be gelled in) be my gelatin? Thank you for such fun ideas, my imagination runs away from me after every video & I have to catch up with it before we get lost to some nonsense, but that's the fun of it. Despite the perfected quality of your content (I mean you bring literally everything right here before we even have a question to ask, we don't even have to go seeking more stuff to enjoy a top notch idea), it gets the wandering mind going to wherever, for better or worse LOL, and I think that's a HUGE part of your content's value. And you're so patient with us too, so thank you
Oh wow, that is quite the swing! I think that rollercoaster of temperatures probably means your environment is best suited to emulsified body butter formulations-they are just SO much more thermally stable. Any anhydrous ingredient that adds structure is also going to raise the melting point, altering the skin feel and melting point of the formulation. That said, I'm never one to discourage experimentation and playing! Give it a go and see what you think 😄 You could have tons of fun + learn lots by blending up lots of different ratios and checking on them over time with a thermometer. If you're looking for a decadent emulsified body butter, I love this one ❤️ www.humblebeeandme.com/hot-chocolate-body-butter/ And thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ 😄 I'm so thrilled my content is sparking your imagination!
This was SO well explained and helpful, thank you. I have one question, does heating the shea butter and carrier oil (even on medium to low) damage their properties? I will be using castor oil. Thanks!!
❤️ I'm so glad I'm helping! 😄 Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com) as well-I've been blogging since 2011 while I’ve only been on UA-cam since about 2016, so there are a lot more formulations on the blog. The blog is also where my totally free ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!
Could you use this on your face too? I would assume because I think the ingredients are non-comedogenic but I am not sure if that’s all you have to consider.
I too moved on from my initial body butters due to the walking oil slick feeling. In my transition to lotions I found the three oil, 1/3 method, one of the component being IPM.
Isopropyl myristate (IPM) is definitely a bit of a magic trick for lightening up anhydrous formulations! And yeah, I've had to accept that lotions/emulsions are my preference 99% of the time :) My skin needs the water and just doesn't feel properly nourished with straight oil.
You are really amazing, very clear instructions! I will need your help, maybe I made something wrong. The cream was soft and beautiful as you decribe but was more oily. I used almond oil and the grams that you say, can I save it? Must add more shea butter and make the process from the start? Thank you very much!
Good question! 1) Because this is a whipped shea butter formulation, not a whipped mango butter formulation :) 2) Because I wanted as few variables as possible in the formulation to illustrate the difference that variations in temperature can have. If I changed the ingredients then it is hard to be certain what changes are due to the ingredients and which are due to the environment.
@@HumblebeeAndMe I wouldn't think it would be "that difficult" considering the melting point for each butter and the absorbacy rate. But hey, it's worth a try using Mango for Summertime. I'll let you know how it holds up ☺️
@@HumblebeeAndMe thank you for the reply. Great food for thought. I'm also going to make smaller batches, and do a ice water bath, just to play it safe .. 🤞🤞🤞😊 you are awesome with your many tips. Thanks a bunch🙂
would the winter formula hold up at a about 22 degrees Celsius in time? also could it be pumped through a bottle pump? I'd like to make a body butter that is more lotion like
I bought unrefined African shae butter. (I’m brand new at this). I’m finding that even after I whip all ingredients together for 15-20 minutes' it’s still yellow. I don’t want to waste it by not using it. Is there a solution to this?
It sounds like you might've bought yellow shea butter, which is shea butter that's been coloured yellow with the wood of the Borututu Tree. Plain raw shea butter is a sort of grey-ish off-white colour. Whipping yellow shea butter will not make it white, but there's nothing wrong with it-you can still use it. Happy making!
You'd add them at the end, after all heating is done. How much varies massively with the particular essential oils you're using as they all have their own safe usage levels (this is unfortunately much more complex than is often represented :/ I've written more about this here: www.humblebeeandme.com/essential-oils-in-lotion/). Starting with 0.5% lavender essential oil would be good :)
Thank you Marie. Your blog and YT channel has been such a wonderful resource and inspiration! Question on whipped body butter- a lot of your older recipes has 65% butter and 35 oil..should we swap them to be in line with the recommendations here
Thanks for watching! I'd really encourage you to try both and see what you think :) Both work, but they're different. Personal preference definitely plays a role, so I can't say which one you'll like best. Happy making!
No, not at all. The book is almost entirely formulations that do not (and will never) appear anywhere on the blog or UA-cam channel. Who would buy a book if they could get all the content for free, after all? :) I shared a release day walk-through here: ua-cam.com/video/6jtWzz5K05s/v-deo.html. Happy making!
Where can I buy good essential/fragrance in the USA or list of natural smell ingredient without using fragrance. Many DIY make perfect products, but many do not share where to buy in the USA & I've tried a few places E/F oils but never what it supposed to smell like? Thanks
If you're looking for a specific fragrance I've used in a formulation, I always link all the ingredients for any given formulation in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post, which is linked in in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post the description box below the video (that's one of the many reasons I highly suggest reading the blog post as well as watching the video! Thank you for your detailed explanation concerning temperatures (ambient). You had mentioned not to scale up until reaching the right ratio/recipe for our locations. But I have a question regarding scaling down. I've taken a few recipes ie. Lotion bars and body butter and cut the recipe in half as opposed to making a pound of body butter or 20 lotion bars etc. But each time I've done this with both recipes, they've turned out pretty bad. My question is what would cause a recipe that's been cut completely in half cause it to fail? Any input would be appreciated 🙂
Hi Marie. You had a white plastic container at you first presentation at the HBBG conference. Can you tell me who supplied that jar. I had some , loved them but don’t remember where I sourced them. Thanks
This looks so lovely. Cannot wait to try! How important is it to steralize your tins, bottles, jars for lotions, creams, butters, and toners? I purchased a bunch to put my butters in. Some tins cannot be boiled and plastic bottles I bought cannot be boiled either for lotion. Thanks for any help.
For skincare it doesn’t need to be sterile (I learned from Formula Botanica, leading online school for botanical formulations) but it needs to be disinfected. All tools, bowls, and workspace can be cleaned with warm soapy water and some rubbing alcohol if you so choose to keep things sanitary and using GMP- good manufacturing practice 😊hopes this helps!!

Can I mix refined shea butter and jojoba oil or vitamin e oil together for whipped body butter? I’m brand new to this 😅
This was SO well explained and helpful, thank you. I have one question, does heating the shea butter and carrier oil (even on medium to low) damage their properties? I will be using castor oil. Thanks!!
Always appreciate your videos and this was right on time!
❤️ Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing this ❤️ Been a very painstaking journey til I found you
❤️ I'm so glad I'm helping! 😄
Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com) as well-I've been blogging since 2011 while I’ve only been on UA-cam since about 2016, so there are a lot more formulations on the blog. The blog is also where my totally free ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!
YOU ARE AMAZING 😍 a true gem! 💕
Could you use this on your face too? I would assume because I think the ingredients are non-comedogenic but I am not sure if that’s all you have to consider.
Thank you for sharing! Can you please tell me it won't be spoiled if it stays out of the fridge. Thank you in advance.
I live in India - it's humid and currently it's between 27 to 35/40° degree
Whipped shea butter doesn't sound terribly well suited to your climate as it melts in that 35-40°C range. I'd try an emulsified butter instead ❤️
I wanted two try the 2 ingredient one 🙈
I only have shea butter, oils, whipping machine and stearic acid. I currently don't have any wax or preservatives.
Can I add an essential oil to this? Interested in Peppermint oil
Chahyo k lia koi cream aur serum sekha dy plzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You are really amazing, very clear instructions! I will need your help, maybe I made something wrong. The cream was soft and beautiful as you decribe but was more oily. I used almond oil and the grams that you say, can I save it? Must add more shea butter and make the process from the start? Thank you very much!
Thank you!
Question ❓ why Shea butter as opposed to Mango butter for "Summer time" recipes?
Good question!
1) Because this is a whipped shea butter formulation, not a whipped mango butter formulation :)
2) Because I wanted as few variables as possible in the formulation to illustrate the difference that variations in temperature can have.
I'll let you know how it holds up ☺️
Love u ❤ thanks for ur support and guidance dear
Hi Marie, what about refined Mango butter? Instead of Shea.
Hi Sherri! This is addressed in the free partner blog post ❤️ Happy making!
This is amazing! And so very helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge🪄
I'm so glad you found it helpful! ❤️
This is the consistency I'm looking for my hair butters. I'm hoping this will work with two additional butters and herbs?
You can get this consistency with different ingredients, but if you're changing things up you will need to do some re-development work. Happy making!
I'd like to make a body butter that is more lotion like
Thank you loved the video and two options
Glad you enjoyed! ❤️
Excellent video! Can I use this formula for my face? Greetings from Mexico :)
You can, though it wouldn't be my first choice for a thing to put on my face. Thanks for DIYing with me, and happy making :)
at which point would you recommend adding essential oils? also, for this amount how much essential oil would you recommend?
You'd add them at the end, after all heating is done. How much varies massively with the particular essential oils you're using as they all have their own safe usage levels (this is unfortunately much more complex than is often represented :/ I've written more about this here: www.humblebeeandme.com/essential-oils-in-lotion/). Starting with 0.5% lavender essential oil would be good :)
Hello Marie, what make a product change color after sometimes
Hice esta receta y al tacto con la piel se derretía como por arte de magia. Al final termine poniéndole arruruz y quedó estable
This was an awesome video to watch and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
I love your videos. How can we make a body butter that doesn't melt? Is that even possible?
You'll have to go emulsified-links + more details in the free partner blog post ❤️
Hi Marie, does your book cover most of the videos you post ? Thank you for all your hard work 💕
No, not at all. The book is almost entirely formulations that do not (and will never) appear anywhere on the blog or UA-cam channel. Who would buy a book if they could get all the content for free, after all? :)
I shared a release day walk-through here: ua-cam.com/video/6jtWzz5K05s/v-deo.html.
Happy making!
sooo excited for this video.
❤️ Thanks for watching!
If you're not sure what I mean by the "description box", read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/.).
More generally, I also have a giant page of places to shop all over the world, which you can find here: www.humblebeeandme.com/resources/.

Hello thanks for all the videos! Can I add Cetearyl Alcohol to cold whipped shea butter or do I have to melt?
Thank you. I can't wait to try it
❤️
Can this recipe be piped into a jar and would hold it’s shape?
Thanks
YellowBee; they sponsored the packaging in that presentation :)
Marie, do you think that if we put pigments on it, it could become a make-up base? Many thanks for everything
Eh... kind of? It wouldn't be great, though. I think you'd find it to be really oily and probably wouldn't get good adhesion or wear time.
Can I use rosehip oil?
Today i made it for the first time and i might have put to much arrow root power but turn hard in the container. How do i fix it. 😅
I actually like the runny variety. Is it fine to leave it like that?
Yes! It will melt very easily, though, so take care not to leave it anywhere warm :)
Thanks so much for this, what a helpful video! Is it ok to cover the butter when you leave it overnight?
Yes, absolutely :) Thanks for watching!
Can you emulsify whipped body butter?
thanks!.. Does water mix with shea butter? i.e, body butter made with water and shea butter?
No; shea butter is a butter (fat/oil), and oil and water do not mix without an emulsifier. Check out this video if you want to make an emulsified body butter: ua-cam.com/video/M4PDskyzXgk/v-deo.html
Happy making!
This was great! Thank you. ❤❤❤ 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

@@HumblebeeAndMe Thanks for replying back!!! Yes I seen it!!! Love what you do. Your very good at explaining thing to a level where it's not intimidating. You break it down down ( as I call it down to baby food ) So I really appreciate you... I will be checking you out in both places. ❤❤ Happy New Year and thanks again. I have so much to learn
if the consistency is too runny, do you remelt the whole thing together with some more shea butter or do you repeat the whole process with the shea butter only and then add that to the initial mix?
Work with the entire thing :)
What about adding in a fragrance?
You definitely can :) I'd reduce the liquid oil by 0.3% and add 0.3% fragrance.
Tysm Marie 😁

But the have changed the recipe and it’s no longer stopping the redness I get around my through after shaving. Please help I’m an avid fan and have bought your books. Shaun
