      Looks like it is back up currently. In the aliexpress store "MadMouse Fishing Tackle Store". It comes up for me if searching "fishband100hg". Currently at 59.99. The deeper spool version is a little cheaper and labeled the 150hg.

    I "supertuned" this reel and I am pretty impressed. For a $50 chinese knock off that is. I polished the main gear, drag plates, and pinion gear. I removed the shields from all the bearings, and levelwind. Then stripped the grease with brake cleaner. Then added a very, very small amount of oil. I added aquashield grease to all plastic gears. I also greased the drag washers (they come dry). I lightly greased the plastic gears on the brake adjustment in the sideplate. It moves easier between settings now.
    What I noticed:
    Reel sits very low on the reel seat. It palms well, the levelwind does not hit my finger/hand.
    Bearings are mediocre, but not trash. All bearings were shielded with a mix of metal and plastic raceways. AR clutch was tight and has infinite anti reverse. It felt good, but will not handle heavy drag (neither will this whole BFS reel). Drag washers are a type of carbon fiber I did not recognize. Drag was not smooth, barely below my level of acceptable. My reel was greased and oiled optimally from the factory in all the right spots and amounts. Main gear and pinion gear were the exception, they were fairly dry.
    Gear surfaces have machining marks, but the actual surface of the teeth meshed well (the teeth surfaces were cut clean). It did not feel overly geary. Plastic gears had good tolerances. Line lay was a slighty offset, but acceptable.
    Handle knobs have a loose tolerance, I may try to shim them. It is a shame, as the reel handle is thick carbon fiber and has very little flex (pretty solid!). The areas that I noticed where cheaper parts were used, were in areas that should not accept performance/longevity). Reel fits and seals together well. I was impressed with the tolerances when screwing it back together.
    Pinion gear appeara to be brass. Main gear is not brass. It was also not zinc. Aluminum or some other zinc alloy maybe?
    End results:
    10 sec freespool (2lb mono).
    Drag is smooth, but I did lose some drag power (no numbers yet). Reel handle is smooth and solid. Spool takes less effort to cast due less resistance from bearings.
    The brakes negate this effect at slow spool rotations as the magnets are never 100% off. Reel is noiser, as any reel with basically dry bearings. Not as loud as ceramics.
    Areas of opportunity for fishband:
    1. Drag surfaces are not smooth.
    2. Spool tension knob needs a bigger oring or tighter tolerances (too loose).
    3. Freespool lever is flimsy
    4. Take out handle knob slop.
    5. Better machining on gears.
    TLDR: DAMN GOOD BFS REEL FOR $50. NO REGERTS.

      Thanks You Ian Stinger Im impressed by your review on the GH100. This was my first BFS Reel I orderd the Ace Hawk double C602UL/L rod also. I put 4 lb fluorocarbon line on the reel an went out side to cast her for the first time with about 2 grams weight. She cast about 20 feet with huge backlashes. I went through some line and was thinking about throwing it in the trash but didnt i felt like there was to much brake but when i backed them off it wood backlash The line was even going in the crack between the spool an body lol. I went inside ordered a bunch of ceramic bearings for the spool and side plate an put 6lb mono on the reel. Its alot better now but still does not like super light lures like 2 grams an under. Im going to take the reel apart an clean the thick oil out of the rest of the bearing plus lube the gears with proper greese. My drag is smooth, The handle has some in and out movement . Im gonna try and shim it. Great set up for the price. Looking forward to putting Lighter line on soon might try braid. O and line conditioner helped.

    My XF50 was spooled with 75m 13lb Varivas, no backing and it worked pretty well. I’ll continue to use it this way til the line is due to change and will put on 4lb 75m braid which I bought a while back and no backing. I think I’ll stick to the XF50 and give the GH100 a pass for the XF50 is significantly smaller. My biggest complaint about the XF 50 was the drag. It’s nasty! So what I did was i cleaned out the cheap cardboard like washer and re grease with Daiwa grease and changed out the lower/smaller drag washer with an old carbon washer from my 15year old Calcutta. Not perfect under heavy load but good enough for ultra light application. Mind you I’m a stickler when it comes to reel drag! None of my casting reel has standard drag. Lol...

      sgtpavlov I agree with you 100’ of line is fine for BFS but most people feel you need more. I put 50 yards on my reels because of lure changes and snags it will get sort to fast with less.

      I use light braids, and mustad hook snaps, so I'm not constantly cutting and retying the line. 2 nights ago I reeled in a nice 2+ pounder on a noodle whip 6'0 UL rod + Revo BF7 and 8 pound braid no problem. I didn't bank flip that fish lol.

      I got some 8lb power pro on my Revo BF7 . The 10 pound seems rounder, and doesn't get as fluffy quickly, like 8lb and lighter. I might try floro on a BFS sometime.

    My GH100 arrived yesterday, was disassembled, cleaned, greased and oiled before fishing it today. While it's a $50 reel I have to say that I'm impressed with its ability to cast light-weight crappie sized baits. The plastic plunger on the spool tensioner knob seemed a bit cheap in comparison to My Lew's Mach Crush, my Daiwa Tatula SV, or even my KastKing Royale Legend Elite which comes in closer to the GH100's price. If it doesn't fall apart within a year or so I'd say it's a good buy.

  • @gizmocarr3093
    @gizmocarr3093 5 років тому +4

    You sure got the hot scoop on this reel; it looks like a real winner. The Tsurinoya XF-50 is still a good reel and casts better with less line on the spool. However, if you reduce the line on the Fishband GH-100 there is little doubt it will surpass the Tusrinoya easily in distance. The unknown factor is will the Fishband GH-100 prove as robust and long lasting as the Tusrinoya. I think it has a good chance. The Tsurinoya does sell for less and comes from a company with a proven line of rods and reels. If you check out raWr Fishing channel you will see the XF-50 and a Tsurinoya rod take a whipping and keep on ticking. He lands some jumbo fish using the XF-50 in his videos. Tusrinoya has two interesting BFS rods you may want to check out They have one piece blanks and connect to the rod handle with a feral connection. Included is a quality rod tube. Rods come in two lengths 1.4m (C472UL), 1.68m (C562UL). One-piece rod blanks are preferred by many anglers because they are lighter and load uniformly thru the rods length. This is essential for trout rods designed for fishing small streams where casting accuracy is as important as distance. Both rods specify 2 to 6-pound line, 1g to 6-gram lures, marked ultra-ultralight. Rod tubes are an attribute when transporting delicate rods. BFS rods do not tolerate rough handling. If you strike the tip or rod shaft of any graphite rod on a hard object they can fracture and at some future critical point in time fail. Nets save rods and land trophy fish. Big fish break rods and ultra-light rods are at the top of the list. One advantage casting reels provide is punching out the spool when landing fish. Fish often play possum and large ones often snap rods and line only inches from the net. If you release the spool and thumb it when Mrs. Big takes off you can give her line. Once the fish is in the net it can still snap the rod if there is no slack in the line. Sooner than later you will regret not carrying a proper net. That is a fact you can bet on. Fishing from shore using light line where big girls swim without a long handle net is disaster unfolding and one memory never forgotten.

      @@ShaneJMcNair My first choice is the Measure net. The little one for trout and the Guide model is good for boats, Kayaks, and canoes I use both all the time. The bag is soft and the measure marking are accurate. You also can remove the net and wash out fish slime. They also float if dropped in the water. Another net made by Handy-Pack-Net is unique and made in America. They are cool and fun to use trout fishing. The third is the NetSaff and quite pricey but the best net ever made for Steel head fishing. Last but not leased; Frabill’s folding nets sold a Wal-Mart they are the best for pond fishing and cost less than all the others.

    @ridered6153 5 років тому +11

    Wow. After the unboxing and your initial thumbs up I ordered one that night. Glad I did. The design and looks had me sold even if it performed sub par as I fish from a boat and distance is not overly important and lure weights will rarely be under 1/10. One thing I did notice is its quite. Definitely a plus. I have a feeling either cleaning the grease off the spool bearings or swapping the spool bearings would put this reel up top. Personally I prefer quite with less distance over noisy with increased distance. After the on the water I'd say for $98 you cant find a better entry level combo for the money. Awesome breakdown and review. Thank you

    I can say the reels are currently available.
    Question, Ray's studio have finally made a spool for the Casitas I have. I'm running quality hybrid ceramic spool bearings. The spool is 10g, so would you know if I should just buy the spool and run the Casitas or buy this reel for a bit extra?
