This is a great Video. This brings back painful memories which i have been enduring. My relationship of 5 years ended 3 months ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

I am sorry about what you have been through. I have been through something similar and was almost depressed, till I contacted a spiritual counsellor who helped me get my ex back and hence my life back.

The definition of confidence used to be so abstract to me before learning from you, Mel. When you said it so succinctly, “confidence is the willingness to try,” I realized accolades and opinions have nothing to do with embracing confidence. It just takes courage and perseverance. 💯

I struggle with being authentic around people who were in my life before I have grown and changed. I can have a better conversation with a complete stranger than my family and old friends.
I have quietly been working on self improvement the past 5 years and i don't feel like I can relate to them anymore. They don't think how I think but instead of having the confidence to embrace myself I just keep chatting about the same stuff we always have. Does anyone else feel like this? I'm going to start working on it more x

This was really a great episode, Mel; it resonated with me on a number of levels. I'm so glad someone--especially a life coach/mentor/self-help advocate--FINALLY acknowledged that yes, we do actually care a least a little about what other people think. What we think of ourselves is certainly more important (something it took me decades to learn and something of which I have to frequently remind myself), but it has always stuck in my craw every time I've heard someone say "I don't care what other people think of me", because I knew that person was lying both to me and to him/herself at least a little bit. Most of all, the 7th truth was the powerhouse truth--the one I didn't see coming and honestly had never considered. I think, perhaps, I've always just assumed that having it all meant having it all at the same time. Needless to say, that false assumption has been a source of frustration in my life for as long as I can remember. Anyway, I'm just rambling now, so I'll stop. Thanks for another great episode and for all you do. Oh, and in case no one as told YOU today, let me be the first to say that I love and that I believe in you. 🙂

My family hates that I did not do what they wanted me to do. I know with all my heart that if i would have done what they wanted me to do, I would not be here to tell anyone about my story. I quit drinking and smoking. and I cured my depression. They hate that I am not their sad little girl. My mother still treats me like I am depressed and the joke is on her. I am stronger and happier without them. That was a hard one to get through because of all the "You need to love your parents and spend time with them in their old age" blah blah blah. Why would I spend time with people that put me last? Why would I spend time with people who treat me like I am stupid and pathetic and not worth any time? I may not be the greatest person in the world, but I learned that I deserve to be treated right or I need to stay away from those people. If I learned anything from all of this it is "Life is too short" Only spend time with people that bring you joy. Spend time with people who treat you with kindness love and compassion. And make sure to treat yourself that way too.

It's really hard to have friends or acquaintances to do things with. All people want to do is sit on their sofas and watch Netflix.
At first I thought it was me but now I know it's social media and selfishness.

want to ask your advice here, Mel. I am an international scholar in the UK and am now applying for academic jobs. I have a friend-7 years of friendship-who is two decades older than me, British, and has self-appointed as my mentor. She has been particularly helpful in checking my grammar when I applied for PhDs. Now, I have grown and am able to write well in English. However, she always points out that I should change my way of speaking, which makes me uncomfortable as nobody in my audience has complained about understanding me. What I should do to overcome this situation

Mel sometimes You're scaring me, You sound like my Mom before She died, I can't even say how many times She told me that I will not please people and I'm not living for someone's expectations or to live how someone wants me to live and I shouldn't be the person that someone wants me to be, that I supposed to be how I want to be, that sure sometimes me choosing me may or will hurt someone or I will let someone down but it will be worth it to achieve and be the person I supposed to be , the person that will make me happy and true, not person that someone wants to see me be or expects me to be

Hi Mel, I’m a very devoted listener to your podcast. I just wanted to see what about if you’ve been married for like 52 years and you’ve married to the king of negativity.

Hey, Mel, I want to print the Make It Happen workbook by emailing it to a local printing company but there is no option to send it/save it, etc anywhere like I usually get with things like this. Do you have any suggestions?

Ahhhh! Spoiler alert - Mel, Why? For all of you who have not watched Bridgerton, Mel, you bad bad girl! You outed Penelope.
I love you MEL and NETFLIX. NETFLIX has been in our home since the 90's - we are original customers. NETFLIX has NEVER had any advertisements and NETFLIX is holding its ground to keep this as one of the BEST reason to have Netflix! Great programming and NO ADVERTISEMENTS.
