@@TedwardDrives Hey Tedward! Speaking of the base Carrera, I was contemplating about "cheaping out" (get it because it's still eye-wateringly expensive) over a completely base spec Carrera (with pretty much no options) in the future. In your opinion, would this be a worthwhile purchase? Thanks :)

8:26 Totally agree with you! Unless your going to track a car it can be very fustrating having that power. I much prefer a car that is incredibly fun to drive at lower speeds and you can get closer to hitting the cars limits. With the 992 and so many cars today you can be going 90 mph and the car is preforming at 30%. Also agree wheel sizes are going overbord 19 inch would be more then perfect on the car.

    • @megatop412

Amen brother you beat me to saying just this. Here in NJ the roads are congested with people who drive like crap and spoil any fun you can have. If you like Challengers(as I do), there's no point in getting anything more powerful than an R/T, because you won't be able to REALLY enjoy it. Sometimes I hate how slow and underpowered my Si is but at least I can unwind it without getting into too much trouble. If I had this 992 here I would be constantly frustrated. I'd also have to start a Gofundme to pay for tickets :)Beautiful car though.

Crazy how fast the "regular" 911 is, just insane. What I'm surprised about though is how good it actually sounds. For just a 3 liter and the twin turbos messing with sound, it still has that great induction noise you expect out of a 911.

What a brilliant car. Porsche struck just the right balance here between classic 911 traits and a few steps forward into the future (though I agree with your exterior niggles). As someone made into a car guy because of the 911, I’ve appreciated more and more how steadily Porsche evolves it with each generation, especially as so many automakers race towards the future at breakneck speed. If it were me, I’d go for the base version with the 7 speed manual and the smallest wheel setup.

Best Christmas present ever! I agree with your gripes because while cars are trying to become more technologically advanced, they are not really making the car "functional". Adding all these screens and sleek door handles may be great and all but it just adds another thing that can potentially break costing money. Even if I had the money to buy this car and pay for the repairs, its not a good feeling having to worry about something potentially breaking.

The way that Porsche has been able to maintain that Porsche "spirit" in the sound of their engines is really something to be admired. It's where others like BMW have somewhat lost their soul and why so many BMW enthusiasts have been continually disappointed. They're still great cars.. they've just become something else. They're more boring with their lower-speed engines and muffled induction and exhaust notes.

The 992 is a massive departure from what we had been seeing in the 991 generation. The door handles come out to meet you....
Even Porsche is stretching to keep profits up by larding up their core sports car with crap it doesn't need and that owners didn't ask for. The good news is that I can't afford it.

Yeah, not sure about the mismatched wheel diameters. I wish they went back to like 18’s or 19’s with some nice thick sidewalls. Otherwise, such a beautiful car!

6:17 I think your description of older 911's is because the older cars had more sidewall. Lower profile tires will feel more direct (at the cost of comfort, sure).

    I'm a simple guy. I see Tedward, I click.
Wheels: they're too big. No real advantage there it's just looks. Smaller wheels look more race car, larger wheels look like Midnight Club. Too much.

It's so fun to watch you drive these amazing vehicles. Always wanted a Porsche, ever since I guy I knew had a '74 Carrera. It is my Number One "If I win the lottery" car. Number two? That Unimog you tested. Unfortunately, my toy budget is nowhere near Porsche or Mercedes prices....

Thanks gray! My toy budget is busted too but thankfully this job fulfills most of the need 😆

Yeah it's to damn fast for a normal or based 911 , i can't wait to test the turbo S with 0 to 60 in 2,4s 🔥 without mentioning the up coming GT3RS and GT2RS lmao 🚀🚀💨 great video man as always , i did enjoy keep up the good work ❤️🙏🏻

Things are just getting too fast. I believe there is a sweet spot for street cars at around 12.5-13 seconds in the quarter with trap speeds of ~110. Anything beyond that is very difficult to ever really row through the gears. In Porsche land, I’d say a 997 c2s is the Goldilocks speed-wise.

Sometimes I drive late at night and get on the highway to really feel the car. Traffic kills the fun during the day.

I´m from Germany and can confirm here it´s sadly not that loud and aggressive although i must admit it´s not too bad either in my opinion :)

Really interesting video. Your commentaries are thoughtful and interesting. I puckered up a couple times at how fast you took some of those puddles. My 1985 911 would not have behaved nearly so well as this wonder machine.

Grew up in Lincoln. Weird to see my hometown on youtube! We have a silly bumper sticker-- "Lincolnites drive 20 in Lincoln." Glad you're not a Lincolnite! :)

I daily drive my turbo and it does get snow tires in the winter. This car would be fun for a daily.

It’s crazy how fast these cars are. Even Matt Farah said he’d take a carrera instead of the turbo cuz you really can’t drive it in the without the fear of getting a speeding ticket everytime

5:20 US cars DO have GPF, it's just that the ECU does not monitor them in USA. So you can remove them without CEL. Unlike, Europe where it will throw a CEL.
