I’ve wanted a 911 since I was 10. 36 years later I still yearn to have one & I will make it happen. Until then, I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual experience.
The faster the rpm, the better you climb hills . 4th gear or higher is only for flat roads. Even my old Corolla 1.8 could handle 4500 to 5000 rpm all the way up the Grapevine. I would fly past people that were trying to climb it in high gear , and I was still driving it north of 350,000 miles and it still ran like new. Lower rpm on hill climbs would actually decrease engine life. Too much strain.
Even for being on the lower end of the range of 911s, the 911T Is awesome to see from Porsche. Theyve got every 911 owner covered. As long as you can afford it, there's a 911 that is going to be the best daily or weekend car you ever buy. I see Porsche as a company doing a lot of things right. The last 10 years have been momentous for Porsche. The Macan was a huge success and they didn't compromise on Porsche philosophy on driving experience. That's why we can have cars like this. There are people paying off $100k on a diesel pickup, and I don't understand it but I say let them have their fun. It makes the Porsche lineup look reasonably priced for what you get. And that's how you can justify buying a Porsche! If driving is something you love, life is too short to drive boring cars.
I worked at Porsche in Weissach as a student over 20 years ago. I am somewhat emotionally attached to the brand. I am getting a 911 some day in the not too far future. I might be able to afford one in a couple of years.
Great video. I cancelled my order for a 992 T to buy a 991.1 for half the price, and your comments about the 991.1's greater sound and drama was right on. I don't need it to be any faster! Plus I got a not-black interior!
The nice part about the seven speed is that the first six are nice and close and allow a great low end spacing, and when you are on the highway, you can turn less than 2000rpm at +70mph, and the fuel economy you get from that... So, rare that you do spirited driving with 7th gear engaged; spend all your time in the first six, and it gates really intuitively.
A good gar. Balanced minimalism in design. And it was a pleasure to see the perfect usage of the gear shifter - like a proper gear shifter, not a handrail. Thank you for this great review.
Great honest video! I’m on my 6th 911 over the last 30 years. I’ll probably not give uo my 991.1 dark blue, manual. Still the TT Carrera’s seem like an awesome drive!
Sounds so good. I’m going after a Porsche for my next car whenever that will be. Might take awhile lol. I’m enjoying my new type r which is a totally different type of car but I’ve really fallen in love with Porsche.
As a 2018 "T" owner this review captures the magic of the T experience. It's the most fun you can have in a modern 911. GT3 may be faster and sound better but on normal driving roads the T is just more fun.
@@netcrashYTI guess "more fun" is subjective. If less power and less sound is your thing than yes, the T is more fun than a GT3. I’d take the GT3 or even a 443hp S with a few upgrades over the base engine T. I guess my idea of more fun is different than @jbgoogmd.
@@feo130all models in the range of 911’s can be driven to their limit. The T is a great car but many of us graduate to higher levels for the thrill of more power and acceleration.
A 2 seater softop sub 200bhp for $10k-$20k lol. The typical twisty road sports car. What do you need 400bhp for here? Lets be real, this is nice but it is extravagant
The “T” is the right 911 spec for an enthusiast. But for a bit less money, a Cayman GTS 4.0 caters to a more hard-core driver and adds the inherent balance of a mid-engine and the naturally-aspirated response and sound. The tech isn’t as current, but having rewatched your review of a 2021 GTS 4.0, it’s probably even better for sheer driving pleasure (since the T only has 2 seats anyway).
fun facT: the tradition of the ignition being on the left comes from the le mans start where pilots would have to run to their cars and start as fast as possible.
The Carrera T is *almost* the perfect 992. My only issue with it is that you can only get a black interior. Porsche is as much about individualization and personalization as much as a pure driving experience, and I think not offering some funky interior colors like they do on the standard car and the Carrera S is a big letdown.
@Haichuan Yu Could you explain the differences between either program? Are the similar in approach to the way Ferrari separates the Atelier program from Tailor-Made?
Okay - this or the Cayman GTS 4.0? I've watched your GTS 4.0 video probably 40 times, and am in line for an upcoming allocation at my dealer. You really seemed to love that car, I wish you mentioned a comparison here. Thanks for the great videos.
The worst part about the manual 911 is the fact that 2nd is good for 70 because a board of germans said "Ach Ja, ve vill make ze better 0-100 time zis way!" not realizing that putting shorter gears would make it more fun. But then again, autobahn.
A 911 T with the aero kit would be my dream. Very similar driving experience to the GT3 and similar looks without the busy suspension startup, and half the price
I wonder who was the genius who decided to place the cup holder right behind the stick shift?! I guess you can only place a drink there when you’re not driving!
Manual Porsche...under 200K...this is exactly the type of vehicle that a driver dreams of... for context, a self proclaimed "driver", who is really just an accomplished individual, with a high net worth, and a penchant for both the finer things because of what they are, but also what they cost, represent and signal to other people may dream of, let's say, an automatic Lambo.....

All the 911's with the sport exhaust sound the same, from the base to the GTS...or very very close at the least

Loved this drive! One of the most enjoyable videos, for sure.
992 Carrera T is a compelling argument. For around $130k-140k you can into one of these or a used 991.1 GT3. I can't afford either.
I'd go for the 991.1 GT3.
Got mine a few weeks ago, best driving experience I’ve had in a while.
