Loving this channel.
Beats endlessly swiping shorts (which, to be fair, did not exist for you at the time). I wish I could just remove them, but refuse to watch them instead as a placation.
There’s something truly insidious about how they pull you in, spike you with that pre-swipe dopamine hit; remember kids, dopamine is the anticipation drug, NOT the reward drug - your brain releases it in ANTICIPATION of a reward, giving you the motivation to seek it (hence the difficulties experienced by those with ADHD).
Longer format videos, at the very least, still force you to focus your attention. If you ever begin to feel out of sorts because of these algorithm driven time-sinks, start watching a series (30, 60 minute, either or). Even if it’s a stereotypical unintellectual show (e.g. Family Guy), as long as you retain your attention towards it for the entirety of the episode, you’ll be doing yourself a service. The trick is to avoid distractions, and to consume the content intentionally and uninterrupted.
Time is precious, and it’s YOUR time. Make sure that whatever you’re spending it on is worth it in the end. A minute at a time, back-to-back, adds up quite quickly. Good luck out there, folks.

Yep, happened in my in-law's family tree. I'll admit, it took a while to wrap my head around it. Then my own family got messy when my cousin's wife divorced him and married my uncle, making my former cousin by marriage now my aunt, and her kids are either cousins or cousins-once-removed, depending on who fathered them. Good old fashioned incest is less complicated.

9:55 Cigarettes and tobacco in general used to be dirt cheap. Most of the price of modern day tobacco is taxes and mandatory minimum prices. Tobacco used to be so cheap that it wasn't even considered a significant expense for most people. Tobacco being expensive is because the governments of the world wanted to discourage people from smoking.
The government also knows that people are addicted, so the taxes are a steady stream of cash
Ironically tobacco was a treat, and was given to soldier in WW1.
Smoking has dropped considerably, so it can't be that addictive.

@@UA-camcanfuckagoat I've been on pain medicine and I've used nicotine. With nicotine, I just stopped doing it. The pain medicine is much worse to get off of. I don't know that it's more addictive than heroin.

Yes! Talk about the Top Man parent company scandal. I just recently found a full package of new fancy men's business clothing discarded on a streetside bench with tags still attached and a few stains I mostly removed easily. "Tops Man" was the only one I wasn't familiar with and then this turned up on my feed. I still don't know if it or any of the other things are knockoffs, but as I look for a friend it'll fit on, it's nice to suddenly see a reference to the unfamiliar brand name.
I hope you tell them that you basically found them in the trash...

Easier way to say it is that a brother & sister of one family married a brother & sister of another family. Mr. Jones married ms. Johnson and mr. Johnson married ms. Jones. So all of the siblings would be brothers and sisters and they would also qualify as double cousins to each other and double nieces and nephews to the parents

Not only do I love the LEGENDARY feel of the blaze; but I love how the style is creeping in to Simon's other channels.
I remember my parents smoking in the grocery store, everyone in restaurants.... I smoke the death sticks, they have giants hooks, but I always hated the smoke and smell while I'm eating.
Im all for freedom of choice, but if the government tells me I can't smoke pot, cigarettes should be more illegal.
"Smoking or non-smoking" was one of the phrases of my childhood.
The original laws against pot in the US were actually tax laws...look at any cigarette pack in the US and it has a tax stamp on it.
RE: Freud ... His wife's brother married his sister. No incest there, just two unrelated people who got together. Then their siblings got together, too. So this guy only has one set of grandparents.

Honestly I could picture the son of Sigmund Freud marrying his grandmother or step-grandmother or something odd like that. Figures the father of analytical pathology and psychology was a total nut job with a strange family structure.
He would still have two sets of grandparents. His mother's parents and father's parents are two different sets of people, the fact that the parents had siblings who also got married doesn't change that. If they had 1 set of grandparents that would be incest. My grandma and grandad are married, but one of grandma's sisters is married to one of grandad's brothers, so mum has a couple double cousins and stuff
Why does Simon always make incest sound so dirty? Why only focus on the negative aspects but not the wholesome parts.
EVA Air is pretty good about that. I didn't print my boarding pass and the lady said she'd print it for me and give it to me at the gate. Sure enough, an hour later during boarding, she was there and handed it to me without asking for any silly fees.
I had a Ryan Air flight booked literally the same day as that bit of Island blew up. Bags packed, about to put my shoes on and "Oh... fuck..." It took a couple of weeks before Ryan Air put a comically large red button on their website saying "REQUEST REFUND FOR CANCELLED FLIGHT BECAUSE OF THE VOLCANO!" Pretty stand-up thing to do really especially compared to these days when literally hundreds of traveling agencies are trying Michael's first strategy and tell their customers to kindly fuck off if they want their money back because of the pandemic.

My counter argument: "Ooor, does it show that this educational writer team can make anyone seem intelligent and measured 7/8th of the time and still show them having fun learning even more?"

The Arcadia stuff is related to Sir Philip Green and Fam, and how they sold BHS for £1,abandoning the pensions with massive arrears, and the company that bought it ended up closing BHS down, being an old company with a range of stores across the UK, it caused a big ruckus, and left thousands out of pocket when they lost their jobs and pensions.
Well worth a video, though I'm worried it'll be a bit too businessy for Business Blaze 😜 (just joking love all the videos, strictly business ones and fun ones tangentially linked)
....and then Philip Green is spotted out in the Med in a whopping new yacht...!!

I'm writing all this down.
I know you're not serious, but if it helps with places to start researching, this is my take.
Sir Philip Green bought BHS for £200m back at the start of the millennium.
Then over 4 years he takes £420m out of the business and sends it to his family, primarily his wife Tina, don't quote me on that however, I'm not a financial expert and I imagine it moves around a lot on its way to Monaco, where it ultimately ends up. Then over the next decade Arcadia pays out further huge dividends to the family.
Sir Phillip then sold it to avoid paying for pensions and the huge debts he's loaded into the company in 2015 for £1 to Dominic Chappel, a former race car driver - who then proceeded to take a further £25m in fees and other financial arrangements paying out to Dominic Chappel and the other directors, leading up the company with debt until it collapses in April 2016 with around £1.3 billion in debts, and in addition a £570+ million deficit in employee pensions, affecting upto 20,000 pensioners, (BHS was an 88 year old company, lots of former workers).
Then multiple regulators (SFO and pensions, etc...) started investigating, multiple parliamentary enquiries were held, with your typical no answer answers from those involved, enquiries were made as to removing Sir Phillips knighthood, not helped by him being seen to live it up large in Monaco as a tax dodging ex-pat. Multiple celebrities coming out in support or against Sir Phillip, including the bastion of business proprietary Karen Brady.
A few people got rich, a lot of people lost out, and many questions were never officially answered.
And a lot of people couldn't get their pseudo posh summer dresses and chino trousers at a budget anymore, and had to go to Marks and Spencers, Top Man, and Debenhams... Until they all go bust this year or next.
The shops towards the end were turning lights off to save on the bills... The Uxbridge shop had all the spot lights off at he front making it look as if there was a partial power cut.

I am old enough to remember when it was still permitted to smoke on airplanes and hospitals. I also remember frequently inhaling second hand smoke as a kid, while waiting in line for rides at Disneyland. Glorious times!
