I would love a "so you want to be a potter" starter how-to video. Interested in making my own studio but a little anxious on how to start and what tools to get (wheels, kilns, other considerations). Guidance would be appreciated!

    Hey Jon,
I think everyone understands how difficult things have been. We all know how much you love Minnesota. Although things have been tough it is in these moments when we need you the most. You have been a welcome respite during these difficult times. So glad to see your back.

My husband grew up in the twin cities, and he travels to the area many times throughout the year for his job. Of course, the twin cities will always be home for him. Because of COVID19, he has not been traveling the past few months. He's heartbroken looking at pictures of the destruction. I know he's going to have a hard time, the first time he has to go back after all of this, and see it in person. I can only imagine how you and your family are feeling. Stay safe, and keep the videos coming. The videos give us a little normalcy again.

I’m new to the pottery community and to this huge volume of videos that you’ve created, so while you’re taking some needed time, I’m soaking up these videos. I’ve even ventured outside my comfort zone to add 2 new streams of income; a lobster stand (I live on a Maine island) and received a grant to buy a Skutt kiln for my art studio. You’ve been a huge inspiration and I’m deeply grateful. Thanks for all you do!

Here's a thought Jon - why not make some more ambitious pots than mugs? Nothing wrong with mugs, but there are other things to make? Maybe make some oven to table ware< such as a crockpot that one might cook a rustic stew in? They are bigger pieces with gallery work. There are some great potters in the UK making those. Be interested to see your take. Or make some vases using slab method?

Love your work, been missing the videos, but totally understand the reasons why. I have made a few marble mugs, even though some come out really good, some of them get too small of the rings. I think it is when I am centering and I have to work it a little too much. I love seeing those videos brotha. I am an RN and this is how I relieve some of my stress. I need to work on centering and seeing more techniques of that process with the marble mugs or agate ware. That and how much clay do you use for your mugs? Anyway have a blessed day and thanks for all the videos.

Jon, I am shocked not to find anyone commenting on your shapely arms and calves. I must not be as professional as most folks. Really, sexy af. Forgive my digression. Don’t worry, I’m into pottery too. Made a little years ago but don’t have anything like your skills. I seem more interested in having. Bought tons when I was in Japan and a few things in Bulgaria and Ukraine. I just love it! Having it, using it, seeing it.
I really liked seeing the techniques you showed here, very interesting. My third video of yours and I plan to watch more. We all understand if you don’t post much for a while. As you said, lots going on right now. Just do what you must and take care of yourself. Btw I enjoy your “energy,“ as people say, your “manera de ser.” You just seem so chill and comfortable. I like it. Thanks and be cool.
