Jon thank you so much for these videos! I am a high school art teacher, and some of my students are taking clay class from home... your videos are great to share with my virtual students! THANK YOU!
It is very enjoyable to watch someone who truly loves what they are doing. There's a quote: " Show me a man who loves what he is doing and I will show you a man who doesn't have to work in his life." I'm not sure who said that, but it certainly applies to you, Johnthepotter!
I love this video !! I could watch it all day ! I have anxiety and ceramics/pottery is what really calms me down whether im actually doing it or watching it so thank you ! I also love observing your technique and learning how you throw ! Its truely amazing !
Would you please do a video sometime on shaping? When to start doing it after you bring up the cylinder, Etc. Thank you so much for all your wonderful work
Hahaha fighting the dust in a studio is a never ending battle. My mum threw mud. I once asked if she had me to help her with the dust... 😆🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😇 You are a master at your craft...
I'm amazed how productive you are, John! Can't believe you made so much pottery individually by hand! Wow, you blessed with some serious skills and talent.
WOW Jon thank you soooo much. My second lesson and because of your video I have managed to center my pieces. Just love love love watching your videos. Thank you so much and believe me I know just how much time it takes to film and make at the same time. You are appreciated. All the way here in Cape Town South Africa ❤️❤️❤️❤️
thank you for showing your "mistake", a lot of the pottery video's show mostly people making "perfect pots" one after the other, not the ones that don't work out, makes me feel better as a beginner that i am not the only one who throws a wobbly, wonky, do over clumps of clay
Thanks so much Jon for this fabulous video. You are truly awe inspiring. Makes me want to throw right now, if only I had a wheel at home. The ease with which you throw is so wonderful to watch. Your energy is fab. You rock. 👍🏼👊🏽
In using square bats have you ever injured yourself with them. To me it looks like you could catch your finger on a corner while its spinning and hurt yourself, even the bottom of your hand? Just wondering!
Totally hooked on your vids! I wish I had the tools needed for pottery. I have a massive clay pit in my yard and am dying to get in to this so bad! I've tried my hand at sculpting and it was a breeze. But this is far more challenging and expensive so that's really discouraging. 😔
I recently found your videos and I’m obsessed with them lol. You make it look so easy. I’m dying to try it. I’ve always loved pottery. Any advice for a middle aged wannabe potter? Thanks
I wonder whether you happen to be me. I'm in grade 7 and dying to try it. my uni sister said her high school has a pottery studio so I'm just wishing I were in grade 9. I also found these videos and know im obsessed
I have thousands of question,, but the first one is have you ever considered,, teaching ,, a dedicated student ( this is one of the top 10 on my bucket list ) .... how much would it cost for you to teach ?
I am so happy to find you and your site. Great work. I was wondering if you made or purchased your square bats ? I have had a small studio ( like 10×10 ) and we are moving in a while and have built a 35 x 10. I am beyond excited.
Hi there and thank you so much for all your amazing videos as I've learned so much from them. I notice you don't cut your pottery you have thrown right away. My question is when do you do it?
I am VERY new to pottery, can you tell me why you don't wire your pieces off of the bat? I am hoping to one day be a talented as you. Thanks for the great videos.
Hey Jon I need some help. I have been following you on UA-cam for quite a while and just a few months ago I was finally able to get the wheel I bought for myself over spring break before all this covid crap shut down the state of Kansas lol. I’m currently in quarantine because my parents contracted the virus so I’ve had a lot of time to play in the studio my husband built for me. I’m not doing too bad but I seem to be tearing off a lot of clay when I go to do pulls. I was wondering if you could help me with some trouble shooting advice? It would really be amazing and appreciated. Thanks so much for your channel and your positivity- we need so much more of that these days. God Bless Ami
I am a new potter. I started the way you are. Watching a ton of videos. Bought a wheel set it up. Bought a used kiln and got an electrician to set up electricity. I will be running my first glaze load today. Only reason I habe had no actual lessons is because of covid and no places within several hrs to get them
I love all of your work so much!! You are Literally my favorite potter to watch work. Also is there any way to buy one of those Mocha Monkey shirts? Or is it only available at the coffee shop?
I'm going through and watching all videos, starting from first ones. Came across one where you mention a manager named Janae, and isn't your wife Elise? well my name's Janae and my friends name is Elise haha
Hey Jon, Just a random question.Being a potter, does it rip of your finger prints? Cause due to the clay and all?? Otherwise very good job man. There is a lot to learn from people like you.
MzClementine yeah it makes me feel like the one person is just buying everything he has at once. Just not fair. I live in Arizona and can’t find a coffee mug of his anywhere
I just started watching and I have to ask if these are supposed to be sexual because I'm seeing interesting things with those hands and that clay. I'll keep watching!! :)
Jon thank you so much for these videos! I am a high school art teacher, and some of my students are taking clay class from home... your videos are great to share with my virtual students! THANK YOU!

14:06 upper part of the tumbler : isn't that the most perfect marmbling? Looks like a wing.
Dude I hate cutting myself on thin metal ribs. So hard to heal when you keel working in clay also.
Do you cut the pots off the bat after?
Would you please do a video sometime on shaping? When to start doing it after you bring up the cylinder, Etc. Thank you so much for all your wonderful work
Try it?
Really it's when you feel like it.

Where do you get your bats?
Nice work you motivate me to start learning pottery
thank you for showing your mess ups too.
the fact that he can just get that shape out of mugs during pulls and doesnt need to form after the pulls is mindblowing
I love your videos! I love your studio, you should be proud of it. I hope one day I can be successful enough to have a beautiful studio like yours.
That window next to your wheel is awesome!
Nice bowls! Great technique! Thanks!
I wish you could do a restock at a time that's slightly easier for us poor Europeans. That being said, gorgeous work as always, thank you for sharing

Omg that twisted clay!! I want all the info on THAT!
In using square bats have you ever injured yourself with them. To me it looks like you could catch your finger on a corner while its spinning and hurt yourself, even the bottom of your hand? Just wondering!

Question - what type of bats are you using on this video? Where are they sold?

How do you know that the glazes you use are food safe and won’t leach harmful stuff into your coffee, etc?
The marbled clay...is that non-firing clay?
Totally hooked on your vids! I wish I had the tools needed for pottery. I have a massive clay pit in my yard and am dying to get in to this so bad! I've tried my hand at sculpting and it was a breeze. But this is far more challenging and expensive so that's really discouraging. 😔
Watching this is very therapeutic! I want to take a class!!
You make it look so easy! Do you wedge your clay before or after weighing?

Which clay body you use? How they dont get broke on wheel when so thin
But why not complete this pot with polish?
Why do you stand vs sit? Does it help your back stay feeling good?
I am VERY new to pottery, can you tell me why you don't wire your pieces off of the bat? I am hoping to one day be a talented as you. Thanks for the great videos.
It's so satisfying to watch...
Do you colour your clay? Or buy it that way? How do you colour it?

Hey Jon,
Just a random question.Being a potter, does it rip of your finger prints? Cause due to the clay and all??
Otherwise very good job man. There is a lot to learn from people like you.
Gagan Abhishek no it doesn’t
Only if you use rough clay. And even then only a finger or two.
I've recently gotten into pottery during this time we're in. Do you offer zoom classes?
I don’t think he does, but Simon Leach has them.
멋진 작품 감상 잘 했습니다
Wow~ beautiful!!!👍👍👍
Love pottery from high school! I find it funny they call it throwing a pot... Should be fingering a pot... 😂 Then again maybe not...
